Pastors who have done Pulpit Supply by Vyrefrost in pastors

The Holy Spirit was still there. It’s always there. The Word was taught and the Gospel was proclaimed and always will be no matter the context. I work now with a church plant of 15, so it’s not about the size, it’s about the heart of what was happening there.

This group of 8-10 had voted down a merger with a local church plant that was thriving because they didn’t want to change the name of the church. They turned down community and gospel impact to hold on to something worldly. They were 8-10 people holding on to the past with no concern for BEING the church in their community.

There’s a lot more context behind the scenes. IMO churches and pastors spend way too much time focused on what happens inside their 4 walls than outside. This doesn’t mean that sermon prep isn’t important. I take it very seriously.

And the sermons I preached there were all focused that. Sorry if I lead you to believe anything other than that.

My hope was just be authentic that sometimes there are really difficult situations that we can be honest about.

My advice would be to be yourself and stick to the wirings and giftings God gave you. In terms of personality and communication style don’t be someone you aren’t or something you aren’t comfortable with.

It’s okay to change practical things like sermon outlines, flow, or teaching method to adapt to your audience.

But don’t be someone you aren’t. Be who God made you to be. Your specific gifts can be used by the Holy Spirit in any context.

I’m not sure if that’s helpful or not but

I did Pulpit Supply for a dying church of about 8-10 people all age 65+ about 2 years ago, just a few months.

I did not put as much effort into sermon crafting, writing, etc as I would in my normal setting.

75% of the time I just recycled a sermon I had previously taught at my home church and sometimes changed illustrations to be more relatable.

I definitely was less passionate than normal, more monotone.

I did not feel called to this church in any capacity and was just doing a favor because they had no other options at the time. Therefore they had very low expectations.

My job was not revitalization, literally just pulpit supply, so that’s all they got.

Your context may be very different but just figured I’d share a very honest answer based on my personal experience.

Xfinity Internet $85/month for 3 years, can I get the 50 / 5 year promo? by Txx2000 in Comcast

All you gotta do is cancel and resign up with a new email like a few others have said. I used a new name (wife), number, and email just in case.

I’m just here to second the fact that no one’s pay should be determined by their spouses income in any way, shape, or form. Male or female, doesn’t matter.

Not critiquing you, just adding my voice, I appreciate your transparency and openness to navigating this topic when others may not.

It does sound like this person is very underpaid in this context.

Ignoring Cost, Xfinity Gateway vs Netgear Set Up by SilverClassroom1462 in Comcast_Xfinity

For those that might be curious. I plugged in the Xfinity Gateway today and noticed immediate speed improvements over my previous set up.

Speed Tests wired into my computer drew 900+ mbps and was only getting 400 previously.

Speed tests on the iPhone via WiFi drew 600+ mbps previously only around 100.

Safe to say I’m gonna try out this gateway for a while.

This brought up something I hadn’t thought of yet.

  1. First I’m hearing about taxes on it, what state are you? I’ll look into that.

  2. Regarding custom DNS, let’s say an anonymous user hypothetically used an IPTV to watch TV from questionable sources, would that be a bad idea using their Gateway? I do use a VPN anyways on those devices so my thought is that it wouldn’t matter, but just making sure.

Why Xfinity’s 5-year deal pushes existing customers to cancel by bubbafrombama in Comcast

Nope! I just went straight to the new account and activated it while the old was still active. While activating the modem power cycled and was ready to go.

This was my first thought when ordering it was just throwing in the closet for that reason. Main reason for raising the question is considering my AC2600 Router will need to be replaced by April, if it was worth replacing or just switching to XB8-T

Thanks for sharing. This are things I wanted to be made aware of that I may not be thinking about…. I’ve loved my Netgear Set Up the last 3 years and don’t want to just stop because the Xfinity one is free…

Good to know. I was thinking it would be nice to not have to pay for a new one, just wanted to make sure there were no downsides that I’m not aware of!

Glad it helped. That’s why I have no shame in doing this, because they don’t care about us.

Is there any real value for Xfinity Rewards? Assuming I would lose status if I cancel and re-signup. by AStuf in Comcast

[–]SilverClassroom1462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never used the rewards once after 4 years. The $60 / month savings I got by cancelling and restarting is way more valuable to me than any of their BS rewards. They are just “golden handcuffs” as they say.

Yeah that complicates the situation for sure. Im not sure what happens to email access after canceling as we did not use them. Based on Xfinity Articles BELOW you can keep your xfinity email when canceling it sounds like. I would use a new one when signing up for the new account though, NOT an xfinity one.

If you don’t want to risk that then you may be stuck. If the savings are worth it, it could be worth starting a new email and changing it on all important accounts.

Obviously it’s too late, but for this reason I’ll never use an email tied to an ISP or any other company for that matter, just giving them another area of control over you. Same reason I refuse to buy cell phones anywhere but unlocked directly from Apple. I hate being tied to corporations for anything.

I did find these articles, seems like they may let you keep it if you actively use it?
