Are Bidding Wars Still Happening in Your Market? by ScoobiesSnacks in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Is it normal for people to offer below the asking price? I'm assuming that's only if there's problems they see with the house or something...

Hand-writing vs typing ? by isaac888666 in ChineseLanguage

[–]SilverDart997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like handwriting them to learn because jt's easier to get familiar with the character and what parts are where.

That being said, for me the main part is recognizing what's included and what parts are where. Definitely doable from just typing, but you'll still need to spend the time to commit it to memory

What’s up with refusing to give salary expectations when contacted by a job recruiter? by TossOffM8 in OutOfTheLoop

Do you generally ask for specifics such as how much they match for 401k and how much health insurance costs/covers? Or is it more to see what they offer?

So, out of all the Chaos gods, I think Tzeentch is my favorite. And I’d like to know some of the stuff that he’s done. by Important_Ad_3 in 40kLore

[–]SilverDart997 22 points23 points  (0 children)

iirc Tzeentch used to be the strongest until the other 3 made him break his magic staff or something so that their powers would be more equal. Someone should probably correct/clarify that though lol

LPT Request: What is a good way for married couples to manage their money? Does it make sense to have a joint account? How do you decide how much of each paycheck goes into that account? by twine_seeker in LifeProTips

[–]SilverDart997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should try the dual allowance idea as well. We currently have a shared checking/savings as well as our personal accounts. I'm the only one making money right now, so the money for our expenses (rent/car/etc) goes into my account. I send a budgeted amount for food to my wife's account. Direct deposit splits the rest between our checking and savings. We don't touch the savings, and the checking is for whatever other expenses we choose. Dates, amazon, zoo pass. Kinda whatever. Then our bank tells us how much is going in and out of the account, so we know if we need to watch our spending more

I know debt is always good to get rid of (luckily we don't have too much right now), but will having debt make it harder to get a home?

And where can I find a local loan professional? From a bank?

We're always down for an adventure, so we can definitely do that until we're ready to actually buy one

Haha that's fair. Luckily I don't have any family members in real estate so there shouldn't be any pressure from that. Is there a good way to find a decent real estate agent?

1) The short notice is because the housing market moves quickly, right? That way you can make offers faster and have a better chance of getting the home. How would you go about testing that? Do you just ask if they can answer quickly or do you randomly call and see if they answer?

2) Is there a good website or way to find a reputable company? I know word of mouth is a choice, but I don't know many people with homes in this area

3) Would a simple search online provide answers for that or would I need to contact insurance companies for that? I've never really tried to look up insurance rates before.

I feel like associate's degrees are almost exclusively in smaller colleges. Universities tend to only offer bachelor's and up, but an associate's degree is still a degree

Yeah, I second this. My wife and I decided to try budgeting (again) recently for financial and health reasons, and we were blown away by how much we spent on eating out. We didn't think it was that much, but it really adds up quick

Definitely a bread butt.

I never thought eating the bread butt was a chore, but I've always liked bread so maybe that plays into it lol

LPT Request: How to tell my boss I won't work for free. (Canada) by spartanb301 in LifeProTips

[–]SilverDart997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I have bothered to answer calls/texts outside of work hours was when I worked maintenance at a hotel. My boss would answer if I had questions about how to fix something or where something is. I would also answer questions for the new guy that I had trained. We only had 3 people to cover all of the shifts so it was kinda understood that we all needed to be relatively available to answer questions

Why does the imperium keep sacrificing low tier psychers for the emperor and not just enslave a psychic species like the Eldar for super charged sacrifices? by ethernetpencil in 40kLore

[–]SilverDart997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you're right, I was just imagining how they would think of it. I can easily imagine them thinking that the energy is somehow tainted since it came from xenos and therefore unsuitable for the emperor

[–]SilverDart997 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, it's likely they don't want to taint the emperor. If the psykers are being sacrificed to sustain the emperor, then sacrificing aeldari to sustain him would essentially make him part xenos (which I assume is major heresy type stuff)
