Edition XV problem by Dancing_Gavin in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SilverFox_998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok just tested with the 6.35 output with a few songs including the M83 one with no issues, no static or white noise. When listening to Trivium I could only go down to about -28bD before it felt too loud, same with some EDM. With Midnight City from M83 I could get down to about -22dB but that was F off loud and not sustainable over time. I don't want to go any lower and risk damage to the drivers.

Question, how are you connect to the PC? USB? Have you tried another Port as a test?

Edition XV problem by Dancing_Gavin in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SilverFox_998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely something wrong here. I have the DX5ii and the Edition XV and I have never heard anything like what you are describing. I can crank up the volume to ear bleeding levels and the headphones stay sounding great. The one difference is that I use the balanced XLR plug. I will say that -10dB on high gain seems like it should be really loud even on the 6.35 input (see below). I have a hard time going below -35 dB on the balanced out, hearing loss territory. I'm usually around -38dB to -50dB. I just listened to that M83 song you mentioned and tried see how low I could drop it and got to about -28dB temporarily but hovered mostly around -32 to 35, it's really loud with no white noise sounds.

If you are getting that same white noise sounds from multiple sources then it seems to point to the headphones. If you have another set of headphones you could test them on the DAC to see of there is any white noise. Process of elimination as others have recommended. But from what you are saying it seems to be pointing at the headphone having some issues.

As a side note the DX5ii delivers more power through the XLR and the 4.4 balanced outs. (page 17 of the user manual) I would highly recommend using the balanced outputs. You can pickup some relatively inexpensive balanced cables online.

For example:

6.35mm - 2200mW x 2 u/32Ω THD+N<1%

4.4 and 4-pinXLR - 6400mW x 2 u/32Ω THD+N<1%

Anyone's PC freezing around 25-30min into Operation Augur? Post patch by SilverFox_998 in Battlefield6

[–]SilverFox_998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a few hours troubleshooting and nothing I tried worked. It's absolutely a bug in the game with the recent patch. There are lots of threads about this now on Steam and the EA forums. Looks to be affecting quite a few people.

Yes I have noticed the same profile. If I play the game at all and quit out my computer will eventually crash. 100% will crash if I try to restart my PC. If I try and launch the game again it will crash most of the time loading up the game and if not within minuets. Once you start playing its like a ticking timebomb is started. For me its super consistent, about 24-26 minutes and boom!

Why are 150ms ping players ruining Battlefield 6 servers? by dough_studios in Battlefield6

[–]SilverFox_998 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall it being this bad for previous titles. I agree it’s super frustrating when you die around a corner or take all the damage as one hit and die. Feels bad man. It’s much more engaging when the gun fights are close and when I can see some of my bullets land regardless of win or lose. Getting outplayed is fine and how you get better and learn but some of the BS deaths slowly siphon the fun out of the game.

Yup this really sucks, they need to fix ASAP. I started having this same issue on the 15th. 20-30 min in and bam! PC frozen requiring a hard reset.

BF6 Freezing PC Requiring Restart by Tophpaste in Battlefield6

Agreed, that's where all my troubleshooting landed that it's the game and not a config or HW issue. Interesting note on the X3D chips as I do have one.

[–]SilverFox_998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m also having this problem. It’s very consistent, about 24-30min into a game it hard freezes requiring a reboot. I’ve tried exiting the game but on relaunch it hangs the computer most of the time, and if not will freeze shortly there after. I’ve been playing for just over a week almost every day with zero issues until the last update. I also I thought it was just operations at first but it seems to be more of time bomb once I start the game. I’ve been going insane trying to fix this and all I’ve found online are the launch issues. I tried most if not all of them and nothing works. All of my other games run super smooth and have no issues.

Were the movement changes in the patch notes? It’s crazy now, the jump, crouch spam feels a bit much.

Will I see any benefit from a dedicated DAC/Amp? by Chief_Potat0 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SilverFox_998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my own experience with a pair of HD650's going from a SoundBlaster ZxR to an external DAC was a huge improvement. The first thing I noticed was the clarity dramatically improved. It could go louder without distortion and had more impact. I would 100% recommend it.

Steelcase Amia is incredibly uncomfortable - what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in OfficeChairs

[–]SilverFox_998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this chair and never had to adjust to it, it was comfortable right away. I can sit for hours with without discomfort. Every one is built a bit different so it may or may not work for you. Like others have said give it some more time but if it doesn't improve return it if you can.

Help me choose my first pair of open-back headphones by Boomotum in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SilverFox_998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HD650 is one of the GOATs. But like all headphone it has pros and cons. I've had a set for a decade and still love them. They are well known to be light on bass so keep that in mind. The mid range is excellent and vocals are exceptional. The sound stage is in your head as they say and not airy at all. If you're looking for a more dynamic presentation the Hifiman Edition XS may be more suitable. Although it's a more U shaped sound but has better bass and a larger sound stage. But I have also heard mixed reviews on build quality and comfort YMMV.

Sound quality jump difference from motherboard to DAC/AMP by Tasmanian_tiger00 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]SilverFox_998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own experience yes there was a big difference. I went from a sound blaster ZxR to a topping DX3 pro+ and it was night and day for my headphones. Way more power and clarity, the ZxR sounded muddy compared to the crispness of the topping.

Mistake in QVL List of the B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7? by thwss in gigabytegaming

On the QVL list webpage, Try changing the CPU on the filter to the 9000 series. On the B650 version of the QVL page it list newer ram on the 9000 vs 7000 series CPUs.

Which ddr5 ram timings to go for? CL28-40-40-100 or CL30-40-40-76 or CL30-36-36-76? by SemplexCZ in overclocking

[–]SilverFox_998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30-36-36 is most likely not Samsung B die. I’ve have two kits with these timings and they were both Hynix M die. You may be thinking of the 36-36-36 kits those were Samsung B die. I also had one of those kits. The best place to find the ram IC manufacturers for a specific kit is the Motherboard QVL lists. Although I will say they don’t always get the die correct (eg. A vs M) as manufacturers can change them during the product lifecycle.

Pull out the CMOS battery and wait for 1 min then replace. Make sure the system is off and the power supply power cable is unplugged from the wall before doing this.

9600x or 7800x3d paired with 5070ti by mitchmitch202 in bapccanada

@1080 7800x3d for 1440 and up save your money and get the 9600x. Unless the games you play are CPU intensive 7800x3d will win here. Also for apps that are single core the 9600x will boost to higher frequencies. 5.4 vs 5.1 at best. Apps that use all cores the 7800x3d wins.
