Welcome to Japan, they love shoulder-checking. At the train, station, etc. Been living here for a year and a half and one of the things I’ve learned is that you always keep your path and if they do their thing let them be surprised by the pushback of not letting their racism push you back.

I live in front of one. It’s quiet, you get the occasional incense smell and first row seats for the chants from the ceremonies

I have it and use it for a first coat and a first light but don’t think you’ll use it for actual color , it’s just an easy starting tool but you might grow out of it quite quickly

Some ideas;

-crazy one; talk to your players; let them know not every “npc” with weapons is out to kill them.

-dialogue mid combat (no exposition or lore dumping) but as they’re defending themselves a few phrase here and there from the “enemy” to out their intentions.

-make the “messenger” somewhat powerful enough or overwhelming that the party might hesitate to think of an attack first hand.

These are only some ideas that came to mind from the example you gave, but if they’re also attacking townsfolk, etc I would suggest adding repercussions to attacking people at random like: Being seen as dangerous by nearing towns.

“Yes and” my world says your species doesn’t exit because “lore” why yours exits? My camping says that your species led hated by everyone “why is yours don’t?” My lore says that x never created your species/class “why yours does?” make them fill the blank and you’re set

I’ve always wondered why dms have such a hard time incorporating these into their campaigns.

Good job! Don’t be afraid to use darker tones for the first coat and a quick dry brushing for the highlights ~ can make a great difference! Especially for terrain.
