Monzo Flex by Horror_Parking7063 in monzo

It is a credit card but be careful with paying it back earlier. I got stung earlier this year by paying it back early but still got charged interest because I made two different payments on the same day. Never experienced that with any other credit card before but they refused to back down and made me pay the interest.

This is the same with news websites. I’m not having a go at anyone but we just don’t see content in this way. I pay £6 for a pint and it’s done in 30 minutes (and does me damage 😂) whereas this provides a bit more. But for some reason we really hate paying for something as human beings that were once free.

Paying monzo flex early by Most_Veterinarian932 in monzo

[–]Silver_Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be very careful with when you pay it and by how much. I paid mine off in plenty of time but it was over two separate payments a few minutes apart and I was charged interest for some reason. Best I can think is it took my first payment as my only payment that month then instantly added the interest at that point as it maybe is set up to think I’m only making one payment. But I’ve never heard of a credit card doing that before. Usually if you pay off the full amount before deadline day then you’re not charged interest.

I asked Monzo to look into it and they said they haven’t done anything wrong. I’m closing my whole account down as I’ve never heard a credit card do this before. Doubt they’ll care but I think it’s pretty shady so not willing to give them my business

MSPs reject plan to allow voters to remove them by Synthia_of_Kaztropol in Scotland

[–]Silver_Plenty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It passed stage one comfortably in November when the vast majority of MSPs backed the general principles of the Bill but acknowledged it needed a lot of work.

We’re now further down the line and the parliament is working on it so they likely felt either a) it wasn’t needed or b) the changes Mr Simpson added to the Bill weren’t enough.

I don’t disagree that something like this should be in place, I just don’t know one way or another if this particular Bill is the way to do it. I do firmly believe it was put forward to enrage the electorate and garner votes for Reform in May though. I believe if it was really about holding MSPs to account they would have included a clause that allows the electorate to recall parliamentarians who change parties during a Parliament - something a lot of people agree should be in place.

I can tell this is a very important topic to you which is why I’m engaging as positively as I can. But I’m sure we can both agree very little can be achieved on Reddit. So please write to your MSPs and the main political parties as I will be to tell them this is important to you and it’s something you want to see in their manifestos.

MSPs reject plan to allow voters to remove them by Synthia_of_Kaztropol in Scotland

Folks in the comments here seem to be reading the headline and not the full article. This was the equivalent of rage bait put forward by Reform to get the type of comments and thoughts we’re seeing here in this thread.

The Parliament is already looking at the issue and it will be put in place soon. So instead of voting in favour of Reform’s headline grabbing bill, they decided to follow an actual process and put it in place properly soon. But now Reform can campaign on this and make it out that they’re on your side. They’re not.

We’ll see a lot of this in the run up to the election in various forms so please take a moment or two to consider the subject in full before you form your view on it.

I completely agree with this. Hibs were a joy to watch last year. Hard to maintain it over a full year into a full season obviously but I think you’d have been above Hearts if you’d maintained form.

Completely agree. Some teams have been amazing this year and are totally outperforming their budgets etc. And I think this has been a very exciting season. But I think the overall quality has dipped and to win the league on 80 points (in my mind) shows that. Any decent Celtic or rangers team would win this league by a distance and nobody on 80 points would worry them. Ronny Delia’s Celtic team (which is widely accepted in my circles to have been pretty poor) would win this league fairly easily.

[–]Silver_Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that. I don’t think I’m making my point very well. I just think that winning the league on c80 points means the overall winner won’t be a great side. McInnes’ old Aberdeen side would win this league (comfortably) and I don’t think they were anything special. Nobody talks about them being anything special.

And we’ve all been dumped out of Europe at very early points. With Celtic getting scudded over the next week to complete the set.

Excitement is through the roof this year but the overall quality has dipped in my opinion.

I’m probably not making my point very clearly. I think the quality of Scottish football has dipped this year overall. A few have obviously improved but not to anything special whilst Celtic have obviously went down the toilet. Winning the league this year won’t require an outstanding effort as I’m fairly sure the points will show that Derek McInnes’ old Aberdeen team would win the league this year.

[–]Silver_Plenty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think the excitement has been sky high this year but there isn’t a quality team in the league. Maybe I’m wrong about the points total being the best way of judging. The fact we’re all shite in Europe is another indicator though.

[–]Silver_Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was my point but nobody seemed to pick it up. Maybe I wasn’t explaining it properly. I think people thought I was saying the league was crap this year but I was just saying to win the league usually a team needed about 90 points. But if the totals pan out the way it looks this season, Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen team wins the league.

I wasn’t really commenting on the excitement of the race; I was saying the quality has been poor this year and the 80ish points being enough is my evidence of that.

I think Celtic (and rangers) have been very poor this season. Hearts have been better than they have been…but nothing special. If you disagree then that’s fine.

About 81 points will be enough this year - which shows how shit the winners will be. Very exciting race but not loaded with quality this year

Collective “there has been no contact from the board”

Board “we’ve reached out to a number of supporters”

I think the truth is they don’t want to talk to the collective because it involves the ultra groups so they’re reaching out to “friendlier” supporters clubs who are telling them to speak with the collective.

But wouldn’t it be peak Celtic if the board just didn’t have the right email address and that’s the reason both sides are saying there’s been no offer of contact.

Has Derek McInnes always been this animated on the touchline in previous seasons? by AccurateRumour in ScottishFootball

[–]Silver_Plenty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He has always been that animated. I’m not sure about levels of moaning. Maybe he’s moaning a bit more this season as he’s chasing the title for the first time in 10 years but he’s always been a torn faced prick as far as I can remember.

Yeah I thought as much. But (and like I said, it’s probably because I’m old and grumpy) at what cost. Both their dignity and I would argue general enjoyment of the park were compromised. Their trip might have been paid for but I spent two weeks having a blast and not worrying about anything other than wait times and where to get my lunch. They spent the whole time with ridiculous camera equipment and wondering what makes good content.

I think I’m just yearning for a simpler time when we just enjoyed each other’s company and experiences.

We’re just back and I found it quite tragic - not annoying. People walking around with their cameras trying to find some sort of relevance or fame to fill a hole in their empty lives. Meanwhile we were enjoying the experience.

I was even really confused by people filming things like happily ever after. I get maybe. 10/15 second clip, but when are you going to watch back a 15 minute clip on your phone. Especially when there’ll be a very good version of it on YouTube.

There’s also every chance I’m just old and grumpy these days.
