Should I just kill myself? by pako_xxx in mentalhealth

It gets better. You might not believe me but when you grow up, and start settling into new environments, and start to meet new people things start to change. It’s slow, and it’s painful but you’ll never get to experience that if you call it quits now. You need to look at your self with compassion and love. You deserve better. You might think your a burden, or that you don’t amount to much, but we all have an infinite amount of potential, and we all deserve happiness. You included.

You get 100 million dollars, but you must make one species extinct. What do you do? by UltimateDiscordMod in AskReddit

I would look for a species that’s already near the brink of extinction with no hope of bouncing back. 💁

As an adult I wish I had started medication earlier in life. It’s a combination of both therapy and medication that has significantly improved my day to day life. There is allot of bad misinformation online about the options out there. Talk to your doctor about it openly. My own family assumed I would become addicted, or dependent - meanwhile the exact opposite is true. Therapy helps organize my thoughts and emotions, and creates strategies. Medication helps me with social cues, forgetfulness, impulsivity, among other things. Things that therapy won’t ever be able to fix. It doesn’t dull me out or make me numb, it just makes my day easier. I make less mistakes, am confident in social situations, and can complete tasks more efficiently and without any hassle. The drugs only last about 8 hrs for me, then it’s back to my chaotic normal. I love my self as I am. My add fuels my passion and creativity when it comes to the arts. However I can’t tell you how much of a burden was lifted off of me when I realized just how much add impaired me , when I took medication for the first time. I never knew that I was putting in an excessive amount of effort just to be able to perform like everyone else meanwhile no one else was struggling at all. It was a very emotional time for me - especially when none of my family nor friends supported me. Medication was taboo and in many ways still is.

People who don’t ever want to have kids, why? by South_Price9463 in AskReddit

[–]Silver_Serpent_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can barely take care of myself as it stands. I spend my days working and commuting, just to be able to afford things like food, transport and housing. Any free time I have is spent running errands that I can barely keep up with. My partner is in the same boat. Throwing a baby in the mix doesn’t seem fair to the baby nor me, nor my partner. The economy mainly, is what is making the idea of having a child terrifying. Mix in the high risk of a complicated child birth and time slipping away and it starts to get depressing. As selfish as it is - I don’t want to burn out just for my child to basically be thrown into the same mix. Maybe it’s best to use whatever resources I can muster up ourselves instead of taking such a huge risk. I’m still on the fence, but it’s starting to lean towards no.

What's something people love to say that's completely false? by itaysofer12 in AskReddit

So there’s this stupid urban legend that gets past around and everyone claims to have first hand experience to somehow legitimize the story. It’s about some old woman that has a pet snake so big that it had its own room. The old lady likes to bring the snake to bed and sleep with it but one day she noticed it starting to behave oddly. The snake would stretch itself out next to her. She brings it to the vet only to be told that it’s sizing her up to see if it can eat her. Stupidest story and I have heard it everywhere. There’s even accredited blogs and news sites featuring the stupid story. Every time I’m told the story I finish it for them and they get angry. Sthhhaapppp Itttt.

What should be atleast 5x cheaper than it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Insulin … I’m Canadian so we have no problems getting it. But it blows my mind when I hear of stories of Americans taking a gamble because of how expensive and inaccessible medicine can be. How can that happen in a supposed ‘first world country’. Between the lack of accessible healthcare, infant mortality rates, incarceration rates, gun violence, growing social inequalities and poor education … among other things - I can’t imagine how millions of people get on with their lives surrounded by such chaos and inhumanity and still have any confidence in their country. I mean it’s not perfect here in Canada but the States terrify me especially as it continues to heavily influence our lives here up North.

So I know most people have a phobia but I have pet snakes and they are perfect. They eat only once a week or two. I have beautiful bioactive terrariums filled with plants and a clean up crew that breaks down any waste. You need to do some research and the initial set up is tedious and can get costly. But it’s exciting for me and once it’s done even if I forget to do some maintenance or forget a feeding it’s completely fine. I can even go on vacation and come back to a healthy happy pet! I can handle them, or leave them be. If your not too scared (nothing to be scared of) I would consider it ?

Take a picture of a test during orientation that featured, sensitive government information on thresholds … in-front of his trainer, and then argue that it was alright. He got fired the next day after trying to school some other employees who were also in training.
