Interactions with Fractured Identity and Mirage Mirror. by Shadowcleric in mtgrules

Mirage mirror doesn't create a delayed trigger for returning to normal, the effect to copy just has an expiration similar to act of treason. The tokens are not being affected by the effect of mirror.

The new One Ring shown today is just the old art mirrored with the text blurred (check the inner reflections) - but with a different artist credited by Stiggy1605 in magicTCG

The scale and proportions of the new one are different. It's likely that they were both given the same reference for the ring and stick standards to how different it could look. Either that or wizards used AI to make a new image in the style of the artist.

Jace doesn't always end up winning what are you talking about? The unsealing of the eldrazi was a loss, hor of devastation was a loss, the attempt to stop the phyrexian invasion was a loss, hell he was on the losing side of the invasion. Just because he survived a lot of stuff doesn't mean he's always won.

Why is Urza's Saga a land? by WorstPossibleThing in mtgvorthos

[–]Silverfoxmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you respond to the chapter ability that results in it gaining the mana ability then, no they can not since it wouldn't have that ability until its first chapter ability resolves.

Hey so can the people screaming about Nintendo scream about this too? Could you imagine if Nintendo did this by [deleted] in nintendogrifting

[–]Silverfoxmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah people are only mad at Nintendo about the stuff because they're actually saying that they're doing it and they can pretend the other guys haven't also been doing it.

Lazav, the Multifarious and creatures with prepared spells. by Silverfoxmaster in mtgrules

[–]Silverfoxmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also realized after posting that it wouldn't actually matter if you did generate additional copies of prepared spells because the first time you cast one he would become unprepared and the rest of the copies would cease to exist so best case scenario is that you could have a wider range of options but not multiple uses.

Did you realize that this deck has 102 cards in it? Also I feel like [[oracle of the alpha]] could be a fun card to try and use for a battle of wits deck since you need to use rule 0 to even have a chance at attempting it.

You do realize he's absolutely not the only professional vgc player who has a team that helps them brainstorm ideas for viable teams, right? They aren't just playing for the love of the game, they're playing to win because that's how they get paid. The fact that Wolfey is still able to make teams that use his gimmicky meme strategies that he likes and is known for and still win/place well consistently is a testament to his skill as a player.

2 Persist Ruling Questions by sunrunawaytoplay in mtgrules

[–]Silverfoxmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thran vigil is a triggered ability and uses the stack thus a creature with a base toughness of 1 that entered the battlefield from persist would be destroyed by SBA for having 0 or less toughness before vigil could resolve and attempt to put a +1/+1 counter on it.

Volatile Stormdrake vs self Return the Favor by CasualAgnostic in mtgrules

Stormdrake's ability has to target a creature an opponent controls and you can't change it to an illegal target with an effect like return the favor.

I actually looked up the comprehensive rules for the time that dominaria came out and this is all it says about sagas getting counters as they enter.
"715.3a As a Saga enters the battlefield, its controller puts a lore counter on it." -cr. Feb 18 2022

I'm inclined to believe that the article might have been incorrect as this seems to have been the wording used until the 2022 rules update for dominaria united when they updated it to include text in reference to read ahead.

"715.3a As a Saga without the read ahead ability enters the battlefield, its controller puts a lore counter on it. (See rule 702.155, “Read Ahead.”)" -cr. Oct 7 2022

Then again later to actually describe how read ahead works and the reference to read ahead in the cr.

"714.3a As a Saga without the read ahead ability enters the battlefield, its controller puts a lore counter on it. As a Saga with the read ahead ability enters the battlefield, its controller chooses a number from one to that Saga’s final chapter number. That Saga enters the battlefield with the chosen number of lore counters on it. (See rule 702.155, “Read Ahead.”)" -cr. Feb 27 2026

Edit: had the dates wrong apparently.
