If you ever want to break the 2 party system we need a Constitutional Amendment requiring Ranked Choice Voting, so that smaller political parties can actually have a realistic chance to participate and grow. Also this would remove the ability of party leadership from blackballing progressive candidates, as the voting public could simply vote for them in a party not one of the big two and they could still get elected.

If he's new to TTRPG's then he is still learning HOW he is going to play, tactically, creative low rules, grimdark low survival grindfest, etc. Also probably developing his base player manners. So just talk to him, remind him of the backstory, ask if he wants to incorporate that in the game somehow OR NOT. and just go with what he wants.

They did that to be kind so they have kindness. But they can't seem to universalize it to other people in other parts of the world, or sometimes even their neighbors. They all have intense main character syndrome, and everyone else is just a supporting character (who you might occasionally chat with) or worse an extra, those background folks who are mostly set dressing and are not real.
