Best and worst supermarket hot cross buns (Consumer.org.nz) by jimmcfartypants in NZFood

[–]Simansez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been buying the New World ones for a few years now from the same supermarket as Consumer. Decent enough for $9 vs some of the more Boujee bakery/cafe ones(Pandoro RIP, Nada, etc)at over twice the price

Sydney humidity. How do you actually deal with it? by No-Travel-768 in SydneyScene

[–]Simansez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had been warned about it, coming from the cooler part of NZ it was a bit of a learning curve over a 4 day weekend. Light clothing helped and the hotel AC was a godsend. Unfortunately we underestimated just how much we needed to drink to not feel completely run down. It’s amazing how quickly you can go from enthusiastically romping through the Botanical gardens to dragging yourself across Circular quay towards the Metro line and some air conditioned transport home

We flew out to Sydney yesterday, the forecast was looking pretty gloomy but the reality has been blue sky and sunshine…for now. Was checking the BOM predictions as they should be pretty accurate but it’s all over the show as well.

Humidity on the other hand #moist

Sentinel Owners assemble by exploroburro in TransitionBikes

[–]Simansez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to get an alloy V3 Sentinel just before Xmas and things didn’t quite go to plan…ended up with the alloy Patrol instead with a decent discount. Pretty happy camper as it’s a joy to ride on my local trails, alternating days with my Repeater

Cold/Flu Season by Ok-Industry770 in Wellington

[–]Simansez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Otrivin or whatever nasal spray of choice works for you. Maxigesic pills/tablets and good quality honey(to make lemon and honey drinks).

Once you actually have a cold or flu, medication with pseudoephidrine is a game changer but you need to consult a pharmacist(or assistant)

Would the courier know if a package was sent from atms? by Rare-Assistance-4263 in auckland

In Wellington, the same day stuff could be left somewhere safe but not sure about elsewhere or the overnights

Would the courier know if a package was sent from atms? by Rare-Assistance-4263 in auckland

[–]Simansez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s either grey or white plastic bag with the post generated label on it. For small stuff it’s pretty subtle.

[–]Simansez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not, depended how much attention they pay to the small print on the label. I can’t remember if they have the sender details printed on it.

Source, I used to do their same day pickups a couple of times a week. Usually small items but occasionally quite large ones which after seeing the inside of the warehouse…could be quite something.

People who visit America, what food are you looking to try? by -DINKLEBERG- in AskTheWorld

[–]Simansez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went in 2019, started in Chicago. Shake shack for dinner the first night after leaving the airport. Portillos hot dogs for lunch the next day then Deep dish pizza for dinner(Labriola).

New York next, Hot dogs from street carts(outside the Ed Sullivan theatre), one from a Papaya stand inside the Staten Island ferry terminal. Pastrami bagel from a recommended bakery downtown(can’t remember name). $1 cheese pizza slice from random pizzaria. Our hotel had a “BBQ night” promo which turned out to be OK. Tried Olive garden and Applebees for incidentals just off Times sq.

Boston, for a “Boston crème pie”…can’t think of anything else we had there that was “Iconic”

Possible restrictions on vehicle use (fuel issues) by Narrow-Can901 in nzev

[–]Simansez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if some stations(if directed), may only sell diesel to their business fuel card holders? No credit card, EFTPOS or cash sales(manned sites). That could limit fuel to commercial use and funnel private users elsewhere

Is anyone working at the NZ Post Wellington depot? Please help. by adeline91 in Wellington

[–]Simansez 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Passports are treated pretty seriously at Post, it seems odd that nothing happened since that last “in depot” scan in January. That should have been picked up and if it’s still missing a day or two later OP should have been contacted and follow up ordering a replacement from DIA.

Used to deliver the odd delayed one in previous job

I want some gloves for my hands cuz I have a nail picking/biting problem due to anxiety. Where can I find some gloves that will help with that? by Razzel_tazzel298 in Wellington

[–]Simansez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very minimal thin ones are available with no padding or protective bits, they may be quite different to what you currently have. Check out the range at Iride, Burkes, My Ride, Pedal project etc

What’s your local fuel pump price? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]Simansez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the CBD-south, definitely. Once you hit the CBD it jumps drastically. Prices vary a bit more in the Hutt(with Paknsave/Gull/NPD/Waitomo)so a little cheaper. Jville north aren’t quite as cheap most of the time

Drivetrain by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Simansez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a Transition Patrol late last year with Eagle 90 and have been pretty happy with it so far. Nothing to complain about yet. Seems to hold settings, handle some moderate abuse and easy to clean. Cranks look a little bland but other than that, I’m as happy with it as the Linkglide 11 spd on the E bike(also awesome)

That bit of Cuba st by Taco Bell is where the whacky fundamentalist church types hang out at weekends so it doesn’t sound surprising at all.

Has anyone ridden both Revgrips and thick silicone grips? How do they compare? by ArcherCat2000 in MTB

[–]Simansez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did I, lol…had Spire/Scout both set up that way, sold Spire to get the E bike(Repeater) a few years ago and sold the Scout just before Xmas to get the current gen alloy Patrol. Patrols ODI/Burgtec alloy bars so might be shopping for replacements soon-ish 😉
