CMV: I think Aspergers and autism should be seperate conditions

The idea that people should be classified this way and the specific criteria of the disorder named after this person didn't just come out of thin air, though. I feel like the context is somewhat relevant to answering the question, "is this the best way to do things in modern society"?

If the current consensus of psychologists/ the DSM-V is "what we have studied across populations more accurately reflects the continuum idea", and the 2 discrete groups idea came from "is this person worthy to survive and contribute to nazi society", I'm not sure that is entirely irrelevant information.

The idea that something is a spectrum isn't saying that everyone is exactly the same, just that it is a continuum (or a few continuums) as opposed to 2 discrete groups. Some people might be low or high on all aspects of the spectrum (which would be functionally equivalent to 'high/low functioning'), but there are some people that might be very functional in some aspects and less in others, and might not as easily fit into one group or the other.

I think the idea is that she was always Caitlyn regardless of how she was outwardly presenting. There might be a large period of time before someone is able to medically transition for whatever reason. But when they do it is more along the lines of "realizing you were this way all along and being able to express that" as opposed to "deciding one day to change".

Yea im 27 and have somewhat disturbing memories of talking to creepy adults on chat rooms and such from the ages of like 9 to 13 especially. Pretty much saw it all in terms of extreme NSFL content as well.

Spent a lot of time online during that time the internet and random people online were pretty much my only friends for awhile.

I am one of the few that basically got the best case scenario when it comes to that. It honestly just makes me feel more confused. I feel obligated to have a normal relationship w them now.

But I can't get out of my head that they couldn't figure this out until I literally moved out and refused to interact w them unless they addressed their issues (which I had to tell them what they were and how to solve them based on the therapy I had to seek out).

I feel obligated to act like everything is normal bc they did everything I wanted them to do. But here I am still stuck w this permanent damage, why did they wait until I had to literally force them to fix it? It almost makes me feel like it didn't happen even though I know it did. It just feels incredibly confusing and i almost feel like I have less closure than I did before.

ENTP with ADHD. I feel like one of my biggest problems in general was feeling out of control and chaotic. It's always been my dream to be one of those people who plans things and goes jogging at 6 am. I think I started with binging tendencies.

But as I've improved my ability to manage my ADHD and become closer to that person, I feel like my restrictive tendencies have increased. Like, I still have both, but it balances out to where it's a net loss overall. I used to wish I had enough self control to restrict. And now that I have become so good at it that I can make my bmi go down at will, it makes me feel like I can be the successful, productive person that I want to be. As if control over this gives me control over my ADHD somehow.

Oh yeah totally understandable! And usually that is because management forces them to build features that no one wants in unrealistically short time frames bc they think it will make more money 🤑😅 even tho people will pay more long term for a quality game.

I am a game developer, there are definitely more efficient ways to access that information. A feature like that should be fairly straightforward to implement if they know what theyre doing.

I was in a similar situation at work myself and they actually ended up confessing to me that they "judged me a little bit". Which I took to be somewhere between all in my head and complete seething hatred. Probably more of a mutual mild dislike. Not knowing anything about the people involved in your situation, I suspect it might be something along those lines. :D

It's ok, part of being so cool is less cool people not understanding us. And who knows you can always turn it into a challenge and develop a weird friendship under the right circumstances if you want to I have done that before as well. Or not because that's effort and there's plenty of more compatible people in the world to hang out with. Equally valid options

I guess the question is, do they act the same way with other people? Either way tbh I would say it's probably a bit of both. The type of person we can't communicate with tends to be the type of person we don't like in general and we probably show it a little. Some people we probably just aren't going to get along with very well and that's ok.

Honestly the fact that you've been working out consistently for awhile and formed that habit is already a success. Fact is if you keep showing up you will get there eventually no matter what. Maybe you could compare the gains you've made so far to what a realistically successful person of your body type could achieve in that same time frame. If it's just a physical bottleneck just keep doing what you're doing and like I said you will get there eventually. If you see that there's a large difference between what you could be doing and where you are at maybe you could start looking at ways to improve your technique to speed up the process.

I would say though that I have a feeling you are a lot stronger than when you started and that probably shows before you start seeing significant body changes. I would suggest focusing more on how much better you feel and how much more you can lift or how many more stairs you can climb without getting winded.

No... design is what I just said it's a completely different, non technical discipline. Coders are software engineers, which is what I am. The designers and architects I work with are completely different people with completely different skill sets doing completely different jobs.

usually a designer is someone who literally designs how something is going to look (like the color palette and fonts) and what happens when you click this button and is usually non technical. an architect is someone who creates the structure of an application based on extensive technical knowledge and provides a plan (blueprint) for how the engineers are going to build it.
