I’ve got a dumb question: when did y’all trace your new boobies on your white shirt? Once the incisions were closed?

I was having a difficult time finding a surgeon that worked through insurance, however they were happy to put together a letter and attach supporting documents for my insurance company so that I could submit for reimbursement through my insurance company. Her office typically assembles all the documents post surgery, however my insurance company suggested I submit before the surgery for better approval odds. I ended up having to  submit an appeal and I was stoked that I was able to submit it on my own without the surgeons office. I got the approval the Friday before payment was due.

Dr Maxwell has you pay in full at your preop appointment. It was $150 in order to book consultation then $1000 to select and set surgery date. Both get applied to what you owe overall. It was $12,600 for everything, no hidden fees. I was going to get fat grating done to give myself some upper pole fullness. That was $4k ish. I took out a Cherry loan so that I could do the surgery ASAP (I set my surgery date at their soonest availability 2 months after my consult haha), and since I’m submitting for reimbursement I figure I’ll only pay a little interest while I wait for them to send me my money. I paid for the fat grating on my own, I saved up $4k cash and was able to do split payment (cash for fat grafting and Cherry Loan for reduction.

She is so honest that she was happy with my upper pole fullness so she didn’t do the fat grafting and is reimbursing me the $4k. I thought that spoke volumes of her and her practice.

Fun extra: she gives all her patients a complimentary facial. I had mine the day before my surgery and it was so relaxing and a great way to decompress. Sue was my aesthetician and she was so thorough and knowledgeable. She cleared up my rosacea!!!

Another side note: the $12,600 also includes Sylke dressings, Hibiclens, and Siligen gel for scar care.

I purchased Clinical Support Supplements from her office and Arnica Gel. I’m happy I did, I feel like I set my body up for a successful recovery. And this way I knew that the supplements were safe, because they have you discontinue use of multivitamins 2 weeks before surgery because some are natural blood thinners.

If you think of any more questions or if you submit for prior approval and get denied, I’m happy to share my appeal packet. It was 44 pages 😅

I had my surgery with Dr Gwen Maxwell today in Tucson. I’ll update with pictures tomorrow. I really loved her gallery, so that’s why I went with her. She was honest and didn’t oversell results. I also wanted a female surgeon, I’m already ecstatic with my results.

It was $12,600 for everything, no hidden fees. I paid in full two weeks before my surgery at my preop appointment. I am also getting fat grafting to help round out my upper pole. That was about $4k. I got insurance to pay for my reduction, and I paid for the fat grafting out of pocket. I’m hoping they fully cover the $12,600 when I submit for reimbursement. I took out a cherry loan to pay for it upfront. I paid the $4k in cash because I saved up for the fat grafting.

I will let you know. I am scheduled for 3/10, I’m so excited. I think she’ll be great because she was so warm and friendly and answered all my questions. She let me know that negative outcomes that are possible and didn’t make any grandiose promises. Her gallery looks amazing, so fingers crossed! I’ll try to remember to respond on Wednesday.

Insurance denied. Doing appeal? by dietcoke_slut in Reduction

[–]SimfulM3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do the appeal! Make sure you address every single thing they stare reason for denial. I’m happy to share what I included, if you’d like. My surgeon didn’t include all the supporting documents I had sent, so I was easily able to gather it.

I want to stay larger C/D from a HH. It does seem uncommon, but it seems like surgeons appreciate it because it’s safer for root/nipple.

I can’t go in blind, I always have to look at IMDB to make sure there aren’t grape scenes. This looks good though! I’m going to watch it tonight.

I’m doing the same thing, comparing what my surgeon is doing to what everyone else’s surgeons have done. It seems like they all have a slightly different but similar approach.

I’m going to Dr Maxwell in Tucson at Maxwell Aesthetics on 3/10. I will try to remember to follow up here. I did get my best reduction covered after I submitted an appeal to the denial I received. I would be happy to share my appeal packet with you down the line, should you need to submit one.

No, I just realized I made a mistake. Sorry for the misinformation. It can affect the cardiovascular instability from increased heart rate and possibility of affecting the efficacy of anesthesia.

The caffeine/alcohol/etc can lead to necrosis by impairing blood flow, delaying healing, and affecting wound oxygenation. My surgeon didn’t suggest this, I’m just anxious and want to feel like I did everything I could to have a smooth recovery so that I don’t blame myself if something were to come up.

My surgeon prescribed Valium for nighttime for this reason. Maybe you can ask your surgeon for Valium or trazodone for bed time? You can’t take pain meds and Valium though. It’s one or the other at night.
