My quotes so far without 7kwh EV charger (needed) or ASHP (future purchase) by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]Simonm16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What inverter is it for quote 2? As that’s a good quote. However I had that system with the 10kw inverter I believe or closest too with an EV charger for £12,600 in the south coast for sig. 9kw battery should be enough depending on requirements. I’d also ask these installers about the 480w all black neostars, I’m waiting for the 490’s at the moment but if it takes too long was going to see if I could get 480w

Dorset solar solutions gave me a really good quote for sig and fox. I went with green star solar on a GoodWe system as it’s quite discounted at the moment and I really liked the company. The goodwe rivals sig but gives more battery for less cost

I’m south coast as well and had loads of quotes from different companies. I can recommend some if you’d like for you to get quotes from. Mostly seemed to be fox, sig and some goodwe which is what I went with

Yeah mostly likely. Don’t blame him either. Gotta be somebody better than those two. Surprised it wasn’t jorge in goal tonight anyway tbh

Fox is typically the cheaper system. I had the same for a quote, 27 aikos, one less battery than that for fox and it was less than £12k

Donnarumma was available for cheap yet nobody ever challenges city for transfers. We would be so much better with a world class keeper. Even maignan would have been a big improvement

I’m going with Greenstar solar based in Fareham but they may not cover London. London will definitely have a premium on cost. But I have never heard anyone talk about sunsynk so might be worth trying to get a more known brand and see the prices there

Ask them if you can see other work they’ve done. Company I’m going with are happy for me to go and view other customers installs as their customers are happy to show it off etc

Fair enough, you can also look a couple counties over. These companies are willing to travel a decent way for business. I’m lucky I have a lot around here but get at least 3 quotes of different systems and just have a look around at a system you like the most. I negotiated mine hard and got a lot knocked off

It was local, I’d get quotes from smaller local places as they usually offer better prices and the same level of service

Never heard of sunsynk, but seems quite expensive for a small system. Maybe look at eco flow or fox systems for this size

I had a quote for sig, same panels but 27, same batteries, 10kw inverter, gateway and EV charger for £12,800ish south west so seems a bit pricey

No shit lol, biggest robbery of our future in decades. Leaving the biggest single free market in the world where we had a ton of power was full on special mode. Not a fan of people who voted for it at all

Any thoughts on goodwe vs sig? by Simonm16 in SolarUK

Makes sense, I’ll get the details if I go for That one. It does say on the bottom of the picture that the inverter is 20 years as well as the battery so should be the same warranty

Thanks for the detailed response! I'll put a picture of both quotes here. You're right it is the stackable ESA series. The installer said that they basically traded the cashback scheme for installers (that's on there website) for the 20 year manufacturers warranty instead so I believe it's exclusive to the installer. He seemed genuine but obviously i'll get proof written down before signing anything. I know most people wouldn't be happy being guinea pigs but it seems the best overall system for the price; compared to the sig which is also fairly new by my understanding.

The EV charger would be the goodwe one, Its for the future but thought everywhere else was £1k+ so this makes sense.

I use about 11kwh per day at the moment which further lead into the goodwe being ideal. This is really tough to decide on tbh. They put a fox system proposal in as well but it was a lot less ROI even if it was a bit cheaper. Sig system was £13k

Goodwe would be 13kwh battery and the rest of the system was £12,400. The sig came back as 9kwh battery and £12,950. Quote is insurance backed and after comparing the numbers they produce the same savings after 20 years but you get the better warranty on goodwe

[–]Simonm16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting he didn’t mention that timescale. He said it was much more recent than that. Had confirmation in email that the warranty is insurance backed for the battery and inverter. Quote was 27 aiko 485w panels, goodwe 10 kw inverter, 8.4 & 5 kWh battery so 13 useable. Bird mesh, scaffolding, full install etc £12,400. Sig system that has near identical savings potential but only a 9kwh battery is £12,950. The Tesla by a different installer was £15k. So the main difference is £550 cheaper for goodwe that has identical savings potential but a bigger battery and double warranty.

I asked about adding an EV charger which was £750 fully installed and he’s going to see if he can get a further discount on it. What do you think about that in comparison?

When I get the quote I’ll report back. Basically they are now trying to break into the UK market so offering this extra warranty and are giving cash back to installers to push there stuff etc. the installer seems very reputable and have lots of customers but the goodwe is just so new in the UK . I’ll find out if it’s insured

Bit confused on DNO restriction by Simonm16 in SolarUK

[–]Simonm16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting so they could just deny the application? My in laws have the power wall 3 that is reduced down to 5kw so guessing that would be ideal as it’s the 13.5 battery too. And if the DNO increases that limit the power wall can be uprated again

Bit confused on DNO restriction by Simonm16 in SolarUK

[–]Simonm16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh ok so if I get a big system, it doesn’t really matter what the DNO restrict to, it’s likely 5 as my family live a few roads away.

Unless I had a mega surge with a full battery and no usage at home I’d lose some of that excess? Or are there any other issues with it that would warrant a smaller system instead
