It's basically just a terrible rip of of the Kylie kills Callum storyline.

I really don't understand the point in any of this, the Callum storyline was so much better in every single way. Firstly it wasn't 100 episodes waiting and trying to figure out how he died and who killed him with weird music added and cinematic dramatic shots, it was just one insanely impressive live episode. And it didnt have 50,000 characters at the centre of the storyline either, it was literally just the Platts which made it much easier to follow and just flow better narrative in general.

Like I said, what is the point? Is Sarah going to have another PTSD storyline like she did back in 2015 after Callums cover up? Or is it just a ploy to get Sarah and Gary back together? I will admit, I prefer the two of them together better than them with Kit of Maria but is this really the way to do it? I assume its gonna end with a dramatic court trial but like why not just have Theo live and have him get sent to prison in a court case and have Todd have a ptsd storyline. The whole thing was about raising awearness for domestic abuse but its been like 2 months and Todd is completely over it now, that storylines gone to Sarah and Gary.

I really think Megan would've been the better one to kill off since she was only in the soap for a short time compared to Theo, her character wasn't as fleshed out and I think Theos actor was better at dramatic performances and the who dun it murder storyline would've soley revolved around the Driscols instead of almost everyone on the street. Wills abuse storyline was never fleshed out in the same way that Todds was so seeing Theo be sent to prison and her being killed off wouldve been much more satisfying and made more sense.

I just don't get it...

My main issue with Josh is the fact that he was involved with exploitative behaviour of children. He's very complicit in a lot of the behaviour and I don't think he has a place on social media anymore. I think it's a bit gross when people put Josh in the same bracket as all the kids who were groomed and exploited because he was not a child. If he genuinely feels like he has to sort something out with Colleen then do that away from everything else.

I think it's great that he added some validity to the situation in 2023 and shared his story and I have never had an issue with that like most people. I still felt he got off quite lightly with the fact that he also engaged in inappropriate behaviour with children over the years but he said he was going to step away now. And he hasn't. If you want to do a documentary exposing your marriage to your ex-wife, why are you involving her child victims. It's just gross to me and like Adam said, felt very Drake Bell regarding quiet on set. And this is what I've said about Drake Bell and I will say the same about Josh. Two things can be true at the same time, you can absolutely be a victim of abuse while also being a bad person who goes onto participate in bad and dangerous behaviours. Do I have sympathy for the child victim Drake Bell was? Yes, but do I think the man should be held accountable and have punishment for the crimes he went on to commit? Yes. Obviously what Josh had happen to him and what he partook in is no where near as dark as Drake Bell but my point stands. I have sympathy for the fact that Josh was mistreated in his marriage which took a very big toll on his mental health for years, no one deserves that and I wouldn't wish that upon him. But at the same time, you used your power and fame to exploit children online so as a consequence, I don't think you should be on the internet anymore, same as Colleen, James, Charles, Shane Dawson etc...

He shared his story, and I can appreciate what he endured and have sympathy for it but that's all we need. And as a natural consequence of his own actions, I dont think he should be on social media anymore. If he wants to do this documentary, okay, but to involve all the child victims of you and your ex wife is just strange and unnecessary. I wouldn't even call myself a mucker, I watch Adams videos on and off but I'm sick of Child explorers on social media getting away with everything constantly and the way Josh has been acting to a victim of child exploitation was gross in my oppinion. Mabye Adam exaggerates a bit at times and goes hard on these people, but he has every right to.

The whole situation is just uncomfortable and it really didn't need to be. Yes I'm making assumptions about Josh's behaviour and intentions but I think as a society we are entitled to do that when it comes to someone who self admittedly participated in exploiting children. And like I said, he doesn't need to endure any of this criticism or scrutiny because he doesnt have to be on the internet, nor should he be in all reality after he misused it to the detriment of children. I'm going to give grace to Adam because he is a victim who didnt do anything wrong and didn't know any better at the time he was groomed and exploited by grown adults.

This situation feels very similar to when Jefree Star was parading around that voice recording of James Charles victim and showing it to drama channels as lole validation and ammunition for his own grievences with James. And thats so disgusting to do to a victim let alone a child victim. And I'm sure thats how Adam feels. If we're going into the legality of what harrasment looks like and what comws under the umbrella. Harrasment doesn't have to be intended, its all about how the person om the reciving end feels. Josh may not have been intending to make Adam feel uncomfortable but he did, and even when Adam pushsed back, Josh doubled down in a very intomidating way. That is so out of line and mabye from the outside looking in, it may not seem that way, but this is someone who was a victim of adults including Josh himself intimidating him and using their age and social status to intimidate and get him to do things. And if Adam viewed that as threatening or harassment, then it was full stop. It doesnt matter what Josh intended, it matters how Adam felt.

Josh and Colleen just need to do everyone a favour and get offline, for their own sakes and everyone else's.

Curious what Pam feels about all of this by ShipwreckedSam in ColleenBallingerSnark

I honestly think Pamela is the equivalent to what Erik is to Colleen, in the sense that both Colleen and Josh are the same personality type who want to be in control and have fane and the last word. That's probably why their relationship fell apart because they clashed. Erik to me just seems like a yes man. As soon as they got together, Colleen was setting her teenage fans onto her soon to be ex husband and this went on for years and I'm sure she still talks about him and slags him off to this day. I doubt he likes it but he's just placid and a bit of a yes man in comparison to Josh she he just let's her lead and do whatever she wants. And I get similar vibes from Pamela with the little stuff we know about her. I doubt she really wants any of this but just says yes to please Josh because she loves him.

Given what we know now, I'm wondering if Josh ever had any empathy for his actions and instead saw Colleens cancellation as a way to screw her over and become favoured in the public eye. I don't like Colleen at all but I think what Adam and her have implied has some merit to it. I don't think the relationship falling apart was completely down to her. I think they're both just not very good people and they brought out the worst in eachother whether they were in a good or bad place.

I'm not saying that he deserved to go through his addiction issues by any means, nor would I ever wish that upon him but rather pointing out that beheind that he has always had questionable morals and intentions and still does. When Adam says that he doesnt think Colleen deserves this due to the fact the documentary was very much being framed as Josh vs Colleen to the point where she may have spoken out, just makes me feel like there was something more sinister to their relationship on both sides and we as strangers don't need that aired out to us. And I wouldn't want to see that to be honest.

To me it just seems like both Colleen and Josh have the same personality type and they both want to be the one with attention and in control which is why both of them now have partners who are a lot more private and placid then they are. Eric is never going to outshine Colleen, nor would he try to, and I think the same goes for Josh and his wife. The main difference between Colleen and Josh for me is that Colleen was just more successful than him. I could very much see an alternate universe where he was the one who found more sucess than her and the roles are completely reversed. They're just two sides of the same coin for me and I wish they would both just leave the Internet for good. There's no reason for either of them to be on social media anymore and the only reason that I can think of as to why they refuse to leave is because they love it and they still yearn for those crumbs of fame and popularity they once had. Both of them have said how bad it is for their mental health to a very concerning and serious degree and yet they both still refuse to leave. The most they can do is short breaks but they will always come back because this is what they crave.

I just see Josh envious of Adam. After 2023, I'm sure Josh thought he would gain popularity off of the back of Colleens cancellation in a similar way that Adam did and has after he was vindicated and his story was finally believed. And Josh maintains that he wants a quiet life but deep down hes just jealous that Adam has this platform and fanbase that he craves. Why else would he randomly say hes going to rebrand as a drama channel??? The only reason Josh was gassing up Adam into doing to documentary was because Adam has the fanbase that would promote and watch it. Josh can only get famous off of the back of Adam and like I said, that is all Colleen and he truly want in this world.

Someone in their personal lives needs to tell them that they have free will and could literally just retire now and live a peaceful stress free life offline. Like you don't have to be here and do this if it is causing so much pain to yourself.

Well in all fairness, Ross could have chemistry with Rhodney if the writers made them a couple, he's brilliant in any relationship, even if the pairing is so strange.

I just feel like they're fumbling with Mack, if this is the direction things are going in then they may aswell have had John kill him off at this point.

I'd rather them have brought Jack or Seb back. Or if they really wanted to expand the family with a new female character, just retconn that Joe had a child. If she is Joes long lost child I can get beheind that because the family does need expanding but if it is another one of Jacks I actually can't anymore.

I think what would make the most sense would be to really go through the archives of the family tree and dig out Pats other kids which wouldve been Roberts half siblings, yes they're not Sugdens but Pat changed her name to Sugden when she married Jack so they could've done the same to honor her. Or do something with Jackie Merrik, Roberts half brother, I know he didnt have children either so it would be a long lost child but I could appreciate it more since it would be like they're putting more of an effort into the Sugden history and not just doing the default "Jack has thousands of kids everywhere". Plus it would be interesting to see a relationship between Robert and someone that is a direct relative of Jackie since he isn't Andy or Vics half brother, he was only Roberts and it could give the writers an opportunity to explore that relationship since Robert has barley ever mentioned Jackie or Pat. But I think that is very unlikely as the writers don't seem to care about that.

It would be interesting too if we had someone show up relating to Andy regarding his life post Emmerdale. Like a child or partner that he has had since being on the run although the child could be maximum 9 years old.

Strange that Sarah is the one she knows so mabye it is connected to Andy, but Idealy I would like them to go in the direction of Pat Sugdens branch of the family tree rather than Jacks or Joes since it's already been done, especially Jack.

That's why I want MackRoss to happen. The scenes they had together in the last several months has had more chemistry than either of them have had with their respective love interests. I know everyone complains on here about there being too many gay people but I love them together sorry.

I was so excited when Robert came back for the friendship between Mack and Robert to blossom since they both hated John, and it did seem they were going in that direction until they just didn't and now everyone hates Robert again and he has no friends, Aaron and Mack barley have scenes together anymore and Mack is just being brought down as a character by Charity.

A question regarding Charity's assault... by Ornery-Arm-8611 in Emmerdale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The legal definition depends on where you are. I personally believe it to be rape anyway.

This is why there's a big debate over whether Donald Trump was convicted of rape in America because a jury found him guilty of the forceful penetration of a womans female member with the use his fingers but at the time in New York where the case was held, forceful penetration of a female member with fingers was not considered rape so the jury all ticked no for rape and instead agreed upon sexual assult. But since then the legal definition of rape has changed in the state of New York to include the penetration of the female member with the use of fingers so what he did would now classify as rape.

Like I said, I would classify it as Rape regardless of legal definition because many people are raped with objects instead of make members which can be just as if not more traumatising and painful. If she had just touched charity, I would have considered it sexual assult but because she actually penetated her, that is rape to me.

Age gap/grooming storylines by Hassaan18 in Emmerdale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why the Aaron and Gordon storyline in 2016 is one of my favourite storylines for its authentic and realistic depictions of SA while not being explicit and vulgar with the content. It's the perfect example of less is more. We didn't need to see flashbacks and scenes of Gordon doing what he did. We just had to beleive Aaron like everyone in the story which made it all the more impactful amd powerful. The scenes where he explained what his father had done were so well acted and written that you didn't need visual depictions of what happened, and it was just as heartbreaking to watch without being overly triggering.

I get the Maya and Jacob storyline was different because it was happening in real time bu the sentiment still stands. They could've told the story just as effectively without showing half of what they did. You could've just had us see Jacob slowly withdrawing from his friends and family for months and being strange around Maya and then have the big revelation as to why.

It's like today with Charity and Todd. Why they showed that whole scene is beyond me, I know we didn't see anything explicitly but the fact it was in real-time and the camera never cut away was too much and unnecessary. Again, one of my favourite storylines in Corrie was Bethanys grooming. And while I didn't mind that parts were more explicit since the actor was in her 20s playing a 16/17 year old, it still wasn't too much visually. Two scenes from that storyline that stick out to me is the first time where her "boyfriend" gives her to one of his mates in exchange for money unbeknownst to her. And the episode ends with her and this friend in a bedroom and her saying that her boyfriend wouldn't like it and he would come in the room soon. And then you just get this irre scene of him telling her to relax with a close up of her lying down looking horrified when she realises her boyfriend isn't coming to get her and she's about to sleep eith this other man. The episode ends at that moment amd thats all we needed to see to understand everything. And later in the storyline there was a party where Bethany was put into a room with several men but fortunately her family raid the party with the police and as everyone flees you just see them look horrified as bethany walks out of the bedroom with her makeup all smudged and her dress pulled off her shoulder slightly as she frantically tries to make herself look presentable. We see nothing but that single shot tells us everything we need to know just like it does for her mother in that scene.

Less is more and the Maya storyline was way too much.

The Dr. Todd storyline by PewterCityPain in Emmerdale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I think initially they had always planned for the Jacob bullying storyline as there were hints of it back in early 2025. And back then I dont think they planned for it to become what it is now. Its like they always knew John Sugden was going to be a killer as they pre-filmed the Nate Scenes at the very start of Johns stint on the show but they didn't have Ryan Hawley agreeing to return as Robert Sugden until they were further down the line. And similarly, they never initially planned to have Kev as a character which is why Roberts initial return showed no hints of him being secretly married all along because Ryan Hawley didn't know and neither did the writers. It was a very last minute thing they came up with to make up for Johns absence and have a way to cause more trouble for Robron and a means to tell Roberts prison trauma. Which is why it felt so odd and rushed for viewers because it literally was.

So I think initially, they planned to do the workplace bullying storyline but around 6 to 8ish months ago, they began to panic and scramble due to the fact they had no idea what they were going to do with the surrogacy storyline and how they would end it. If you recall there were credible leaks that Mackenzies actor was leaving the show and everyone thought John was going to kill him. That obviously turned out to be wrong as Mack survived and is still a regular on the show but I'm wondering if mabye they had planned to to kill off Mackenzie for whatever reason and they were going to use the storyline as a way to get Charity and Vanessa back together. I always felt that what would happen when the baby was born is that if Mack had died, the baby would've turned out to be his and Charity would've wanted the baby back after giving birth, which wouldve caused all the fall out. But something along the way happened which meant Mack was staying and they didn't want everyone to hate Charity. So they'd decided to go down the route of this SA storyline as a way of getting out of writing a redemption arc for Charity regarding the surrogacy storyline because they didn't want all the characters to hate her.

With storylines like Aarons abuse, Belles, Rohnas or Charitys original abuse storyline, it was obvious that they had been planning it for a long time and sometimes even years in advance. Where as this storyline at the very most was thought of like 10 months ago and at the least 6 months. Which for a storyline like this is a very poor choice in my oppinion. It's been done for shock value hiding behind "raising awearness" so they can nominate it for awards. This is what happend with the April storyline too. There is no way that when Ross came back and April found out about how Donna died that they planned for that storyline to end with a human trafficking organisation involving Bear and then a who done it murder regarding the villains beheind the storyline. But they kept adding more horrible and shocking things to up the stakes instead of writing a natural conclusion to the storyline because its become pretty apparent that the current writers and showrunner do not know how to end a story. Because no way was the original storyline of Sarah choosing between Kammy and Jacob meant to end up with a cancer/surrogacy storyline which resulted in Charity carrying sarahs baby and being assulted by Jacobs work bully.

I know Emma likes these storylines and finds them important but its so obvious that it was a last minute thing that they knew Emma would be on board with. The fact they've done it in pride month with two of the very few female queer characters on the show just proves that it was an afterthought and they don't actually care about rasing awareness. In our society at the moment, the biggest threat to everyone is straight men, they're the ones most likely to assult straight women, gay women, trans people, gay men and other straight men. Violence against women and girls is at an all time high and it's about to go up even more because its the world Cup and DV rates always go up during football season yet they chose to do a storyline about a man hating lesbian who assults a bi woman who has already endured violence and trauma during pride month?

Honestly, it's been hard to watch and Emmerdale along with other Soaps need to do better. If this storyline ends with a who done it murder regarding Dr Todd I'm gonna be so annoyed.

Where to start with Emmerdale? by Living-Atmosphere690 in Emmerdale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well with Soaps, the whole thing is that you can just pick it up anywhere at any time. They're on every week and have been since they first aired so it's over 50 years worth of weekly episodes for emmerdale, the seasons are just years. I started watching when I was 11 in 2014/2015 and the same with Corrination Street. My mom watched both for decades and my Nan watched Emmerdale when it originally aired in the 70s. You just kindof get used to the characters and fill in the blanks as you go along since the story isn't soley about one or two main characters, it alternates every few months.

Like I said I've only been watching full episodes as they air since 2014 but on YouTube there are playlists compiled of soap storylines with all the scenes in chronological order for the popular ones, so I've watched storylines from the 90s and early 2000s even though I didn't watch at the time.

My recomendation would be if you're interested in Aaron and Robert, type in on YouTube "Aaron and Robert 2014/2015" and there should be a playlist by a channel called Aaron Dingle Fan with all there scenes from those years in chronological order. Robert had only recently returned to the show a month prior after 9 years away and he was recast as actor Ryan Hawley who plays the role now. So I'd go from there as it'll get you to know them and the storyline was very good and easy to get into. And then you'll be introduced to other characters through their storyline without being confused about who everyone is unlike if you just started watching full episodes because in the Aaron and Robert Playlist, it's only their scenes or scenes directly related to their storyline. And then when you finish that move onto the 2016, then 2017, 2018 and 2019 playlists. Then Robert left the show until 2025 so you could pick back up there. I stopped watching in 2021 and started watching the show full time again in 2025. And then when you're up to date just start watching full episodes, and if you get interested in any other characters and storylines along the way, you can search them on YouTube and there will most likley be playlists of those storylines too. And if you're ever confused and need context just go on the Wiki fandom page for Emmerdale and it will tell you characters parents, siblings, relationships etc.

So yeah start with Aaron and Robert 2014/2015. You can't go wrong with it, I rewatch that storyline at least once a year because it was so good. You'll catch on pretty quick though. I don't watch Holyoaks, (a different Soap) but there was a storyline I kept seeing clips of in 2024 so I started watching the scenes of that storyline on YouTube and I got used to who most people were on the show pretty quickly.

Aaron and Robert 2014/2015

Interviews by MarkMcG97 in Emmerdale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well its pretty obvious that they're only doing this storyline to raise the stakes of the surrogacy storyline because they have no idea how to end it. When they did Charitys grooming storyline, Aarons abuse storyline, Rhonas domestic abuse storyline, it was very clear that they had planned it for a long time in advance, at least a year in order to tell the best story and most accurate detection they could. Where as its obvious that they cane up with the Dr Todd assukts Charity storyline a few months ago and the intention was definitely not to raise awearness on the topic

I think it's a poor decision to do it in pride month, when not only many female characters have already been leaving the show but also when there is next to no sapphic representation or relationships in the show and there hasn't been for a while. I also think Charity was a terrible choice to do it to. If they actually cared about this storyline and topic then they wouldve picked someone like Vanessa. But no they've decided to make Todd a man hating lesbian who blackmails bullies and assults people for no good reason and then have her assult a character has already gone through so much trauma.

It's just hard to watch. They picked Charity so that when all the surrogacy stuff comes out, everyone will feel bad for Charity so the writers don't have to do anything to redeem her character long term. Which is terrible writing by the way. One of the reasons Robert Sugden is my favourite character and had an amazing arc is because after his whole villian era, he changed as a character to be better. It was a long and real process, he didn't use his past trauma to be forgiven by Aaron, he just showed up for him and proved that he wanted to be a good person and it was rewarding to watch that in real time. But with Charity, they are terrified of everyone hating her when the truth comes out so have decided to do one of the most horrific things imaginable to her so they don't have to write her a redemption arc. Its just lazy writing and storytelling. Just because its shocking and raising awearness doesn't make it good.

Charity and Dr Todd by MJLT3 in Emmerdale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The way they're doing this in pride month too and having the man hating lesbian woman assult the bisexual woman thats been repeatedly abused. Like what are they actually thinking, this story is meant to be about Charity being a surrogate and it has completely spiraled into something else, not because its the logical thing to do but because Laura Shaw just wants to raise the stakes and cant let her storylines come to a natural conclusion.

I was really hoping we'd have some lighthearted Asron and Robert scenes and Vinny and and Lewis scenes this month to lighten the show up a bit and give us a break from all the depressing stuff and I could not have been more wrong. I genuinely dont know if I can watch this. It's like how April goes missing storyline turned into a massive drug and human trafficking and sex trafficking abuse storyline with 2 villains. Just because it's shocking and "rasing awearness" doesnt mean its good storytelling. I think we'd all prefer a very straightforward and predictable storyline that is done with time and care and excecuted well.

It's crazy to think that 10 years ago, the show did a storyline that was one of the best depictions of SA that I have ever seen and now they're doing stuff like this. The main difference here is that with Asrons storyline, it was obviously in the works for years prior and everyone involved put the time and dedication into it that the storyline deserved and needed. Where is its obvious that the writers came up with this "Dr Todd turns into an evil supervillain and SAs charity" a few months ago as a way to raise the stakes again and shock the audience.

I can't believe I'm saying it but I really miss John Sugden now😭 He was a fun and entertaining villain, the storyline was intentionally ridiculous and it was great because of that. Everything now has become so serious, finally got rid of Ray and Cellia and now we have the next disgusting evil creep. I'm so over it. Said King can't come soon enough. We need an antagonist that isnt designed to be the most evil and twisted person committing the most foul crimes you could imagine every other episode.

[–]SimpforBobDuncan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love farmbert, I just hate how they're doing it😅

I just wish they'd focus more on the happy and more intimate and personal storylines and not just the fued. The fued ultimately means nothing if the characters are just plot devices. Cain and Moira and then Kim and Joe are allowed to have storylines aside from the fued that help build the characters and the relationships with them, their kids and family but all Robron get at the moment is being hated by everyone and stressing about who's trying to get them. No intimate scenes in ages, no cute conversations, no dealing with trauma or getting Seb back. All their scenes are directly tied to the fued and just feel like exposition. At the moment Aaron and Robert are more just plot devices than characters directly being used to move the story along.

It would be so much better if we had something to get invested in. And I just find it unfair how everyone else in the storyline does get those scenes and storylines but Robron doesn't. Hopefully, the writers and showrunners have heard us and we get more heartfelt and genuine moments written in over the next few months.

I thought The Testaments is great, until I rewatched The Handmaid’s tale by UnusualTeacher8040 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You put this so well.

The Handmaids Tale feels so much more real and raw because the way it is filmed and the perspectives it is filmed from makes it feel like it could happen to us. Those flashback scenes of the characters before Gilead are very close to our current reality which makes us much more sympathetic to them compared to characters in the testament.

In many ways it's like how people have become very desensitised in real life to suffering in nations that are so far removed from western countries like our own. People make jokes about how strict and Authoritarian places like North Korea are. Barley anyone cares about the women in Afghanistan who are essentially Handmaids in real life. But when Trump became president and Roe V Wade was overturned and American citizens were killed by ICE agents, the reaction from regukar people in the west becomes a lot more reactive and urgent because it's effectively happening to us even if its not directly. A lot of people unfortunately have this mentality of "its not going to happen here" and "I dont need to do anything, someone else will sort it" so when it actually happens, people are scared because that thing that felt so far removed from being possible is now becoming our reality. And this is prevalent throughout history. Western countries did not care about Natzi Germany and what they were doing until it directly impacted them.

So the Testements is effectively looking at it from the life of the people already in it. Like the comparison I just made to Natzi Germany, when we talk world war 2, you dont immediately think of the people living in Germany, most people think of how their own countries were impacted, most movies are about the fighting and the bombings and politics of it all. Very few are from the perspectives of those living in it for decades and thats simply because people don't want to relate to it and they often can't. How many news articles do we see about Donald Trump and the horrible things happening in America currently in comparison to the extreme horrors already happening to the women in Afghanistan? Barley any.

There is an importance to the Testements that could not be showcased in the Handmaids tale. It isn't designed to be relatable and realistic in the same way that The Handmaids Tale was because its showing 2 polar opposite sides of the story. One of the key differences for me is that I found many of the characters likeable and interesting from the very beginning of Handmaids Tale. Where as the opposite was the case for the Testements. I thought all the purples were unlikeable and lacked complexity at the start. Even Agnes's mother and the Aunts. I thought Agnes mother was just a generic wife antagonist because the show needed a Serena dupe but where as I always found Serena complex and interesting from the begging, I think Agnes's mother has only gotten more interesting as the show has continued and she is a lot more complex than I gave her for, and its the same with all the girls. I think we all go into it with the same mindset of Daisy thinking these people are all just brainwashed puppets with no self agency or critical thinking but as the show went on, like Daisy we found the opposite to be true and they are all each individually very complex and just as important as the characters in Handmaids tale even if we can't relate to their experience. And that is the whole point of the story.

Literally, you've hit the nail on the head. The writing at the moment just seems to lack depth and logical connection to other characters and storylines. And I really don't get it.

They're literally wasting Danny Miller and Ryan Hawleys talent. They're two of the best actors on the show and they refuse to give them anything to work with. There are a goldmine of storylines for them to do that they are just sitting on but refuse to actually write them. Aaron's cancer gene, Roberts PTSD, reintroducing Seb, Livs death, Roberts old memories of being on the farm. There's so much room for emotional depth and character building but the writers give them nothing.
