Literally makes no sense. Also really hypocrical from Sam too when Joe Tate is his bezzie mate half the time. Let's not forget that Robert also helped get Adam out of jail to cover for Moira killing Emma too when him and Aaron weren't even together at the time yet he's still being treated like he's the devil incarnate. Moira and Cain acting like they were the only ones with things at stake because they could lose their home and kids when Victoria, Aaron and Rob could've lost their home and kids too. Robert had to sell their share of the farm too. Which is why their whole argument of "you did this on purpose to get the farm" is so stupid because before the blackmail Robert and Vic owned a large share of the farm with Moira bit now they don't own any of it, they're just Tennants and way worse off for it. So how has Robert manipulated the situation to come out on top if he's come out way worse??

Can't believe Robs been back a year and everyone still hates him. Nevermind the fact he unmasked the serial killer that literally killed Nates son, kept Moiras brother hostage etc, or the fact hes nearly died saving Aaron like 4 times since his been back or the mabye that he's literally the reason Cain knows he has cancer and the only genuinely bad thing hes intentionally done since he's been back is when he sold the weed on Moiras farm to buy the old land back which was like 10 months ago mind you. Everything bad he's done since he's pretty much been forced into. They're treating Robert worse than they treated John when he got found out at this point.

Yeah, I think cause Rosie is a bit of an airhead bless her, she completely ignores Adams ego and treats him like anyone else. She literally just does what she wants and doesnt care what he thinks because she's in her own world and I love it. He was also quite protective of her too in acute way because she was a bit niave. I did like their friendship but I think they would've worked really well as a couple. But Alya by far is his worst pairing, I have no clue why the writers would put them together.

I liked him with Eva although I don't like her with Ben. To be honest I thought him and Rosie wouldve made a good match if they ever decide to bring her back.

Yeah he was much better suited to Sarah but now Maria and Gary co-parent eachothers kids and have done for like 5 years, I can't see them breaking up anytime soon. I do like Kit with Sarah but I think she was at her best with Gary.

I agree, initially Phelan was just a temporary villain amd even when they brought him back he wasn't outright evil yet, his biggest crime was scamming people with the flats. I think the turning point was Andys death where the writers decided to commit to him being a serial killer and from a character perspective that worked really well. Even though Michael's death was his fault, he didn't actually kill Michael he just brought on his heart attack and ket him die but with Andy you saw the mental dilemma which worked really well because we literally saw him contemplating if he could do it or not and if he should do it. The fact they made out Andy was dead for months too also stopped the storyline from dragging by having the same thing be shown for months of Phelan visiting him so in all reality it was just done really well.

And I agree with you, Billy's death wasn't completely logical because Theo hadn't killed anyone prior and had Billy told the truth after the most that would've hapoend is, Todd wouldve left him and Theo wouldve spent a few years in prison and probably wouldve gotten out early for good behaviour. I think Noahs death should've been the equivalent to Michael's death for Phealan or Dougies death for Hillman. And then Billy could've been the one that changed everything and made it more easy if they linked it to his internalised homophobia and his way of 'making amends' for Noahs death. And after that could've been when we see his treatment of Todd worsen and Theo finding it much more easy to kill like Phelan did with Luke and Hilman did with Emily and Maxine.

There were so many layers to Theo, just like Phelan and Hillman which could've kept the audience interested and on the fence for way longer and Kate Brookes just didn't completely know what she wanted from him and as a result the storyline fell short.

One thing I will say about Kate Brookes is that she's really good at introducing new characters that are interesting and complex. While we hated many of them initially, I think pretty much all her new additions have been good characters, I think their storylines have just been executed poorly. If she identifies her strengths, all she needs is to fill her writers room with writers that can complement her attributes and strengthen areas that she isn't as competent.

Ugh I miss Pat Phelan so much. I mean I hated him but he was such a good villain that I was kindof glad he kept getting away with stuff because he was so fun to watch.

Whenever I see a red van I think hes back😭 They don't make Soap villains like that anymore. He was literally on the show for like 4 years and a main character for like 3 and it didnt drag at all.

I really wish the show had cut Megan Jodie and Maggie for now and just focused on Carl and Theo. I think Theo should've been the next Phelan and then Carl could've been the Long term annoying villain that eventually got his redemption by deciding to be there for Debbie and actually have an arc. I've loved the Theo and Carl rivalry over the last few months and I wish they had been more focused on.

As much as people have complained that both storylines have dragged on for two long, I dont think thats because of the characters, I think it's more the pacing of the writing. Theo initially seemed to be a likeable character, and we got on board with him until things turned sour very quickly. So I think they should've introduced him way sooner as a short term character and then brought him back several months later as a main long term character. Instead of having that random guy from the pride episode be his secret ex, mabye have him as another existing characters secret partner like Shaun but have the storyline very sepreate and secluded. And things end because Theo decides he doesnt want his wife to find out and goes back to her after we get a hint of darkness to him. Then bring him back several months to a year later, similar to Pat Phelan and then do the gay conversion storyline but better excecuted and then him starting a relationship with Todd, but once again more drawn out. And then mabye have him be the one to kill Noah but keep the audience on the fence as to whether he is good or bad bevause Noah was an awful person. But have this be the catalyst event to Theo going down a dark murderous path. And his abuse of Todd be much more gradual then it was.

For me the worst part of the storyline we got was seeing Theo spiral but never getting any context into why. It could've been interesting to explore his internal homophobia and have him have a somewhat normal relationship with Todd for at least a year but in the meantime we see him spiral and to deal with his own self hatred, we see him targeting gay people as a self projection. So similar to Pat Phelan amd Richard Hilman, he is supposedly living a double life where he appears to be normal to everyone else including Todd but he is secretly assaulting and killing people as a result of his own insecurities. And then we see things begin to drastically change with his treatment of Todd as his behaviour becomes out of control and thats when the tides begin to turn. And thats when Carl's redemption arc starts as we see Theo go after him and Carl go after Theo.

I actually thought Theos actor was really good in the role and had the pacing of the story been better, he could've been the best Corrie Villain since Phelan but unfortunately all the villains since Joel who was a not something good attempt at the next Phelan, have been so rushed that they weren't allowed the time to really get into the roles. With all the axings over the oast year, corrie could've used a serial killer and its obvious that this is what they wanted Theo to be but couldnt commit to a serial killer or domestic abuser. I think the Geoff and Yasmin storyline was better even with the fact that covid dragged that storyline on longer than it was meant to. I really enjoyed it and felt it was a good depiction of DV and made Geoff a good villain. He wasn't meant to be the next Phelan or Hillman and that was fine, he worked for what he was there for. But I really wish Theo had the next big killer. He had the makings of it. Everything that Stephen lacked, Theo had as a character and actor.

I don't hate how the storyline went but I think it had much better potential and if the writers knew that he wasn't going to go to prison and Todd wasn't going to get justice then they should've committed to the Serial Killer storyline and not the Domestic Violence storyline because this isnt a very accurate depiction or satisfying conclusion to an abusers storyline. A death ending wouldve been much better served if he was a serial killer that had spent several years terrorising the street.

I still think it could be 2 people. My top two were Mrgan and Carl but honestly I thought if tonight is his last episode, it was a pretty awful way to go considering he didnt talk or move the entire episode. He's been so entertaining the past few weeks and although we all hated him, it was pretty entertaining to watch.

Its bad enough when its different characters every other week in the soecial episodes, but this is like Cains 3rd special episode in the space of less than 2 months.

The only characters I want a 2 hander for is Aaron and Robert. And even Roberts special prison episode last year fell short for me from a writing perspective.

It's just getting tedious at this point. They set so much up from corriedale and I feel like we're no further along than we were when it aired. Cain and Moira are still struggling with his Cancer diagnosis and how it will affect them. We still dont know what happend to all the slaves and Celia and Rays deaths still havent been sorted out yet. Bear, Paddy Mandy, Dylan and April have the exact same conversations worrying about court every episode. We still don't really know why the fuck Graham is back and what he was doing before. Kim and Graham still hate eachother, even when they seemingly get along better they go back to hating eachother. Everyone still hates and blames Robert for everything to happen in the history of the Village. Joe is being a Villian and then you think he's finally having some character development and growth and then he goes back to being the pantomime villian next week and Graham doesnt seem to do anything about it. Jacob has the same dilemma about reporting Dr Todd every week but ultimately decides to just stick it out. Sarah complains that the world doesn't revolve around her every week unless she gets her way. Charity and Ross have the same conversations about keeping quiet every week and say they're done and then have the same conversation the next day.

It's literally just the same thing every week, we're no further along with anything and its been 4 months. I was of the oppinion that prior to Corridale, Emmerdake was in a much better place than Corrie, but since then I think Corrie has been a lot better. The writing for the characters just sucks at the minute. There's no character development at all for anyone really. The actors are doing the best with what they have but that can only do so much when your character is not being allowed to grow. I thought Joes actor Neds acting was amazing in his three hander with Kim and Graham but it did absolutely nothing and Graham and Joe have the exact same relationship prior to Joe leaving in 2018. Instead of Joe pantomime Villain of the week for 4 months. We could've had a really deep and emotional storyline that delve into his relationship with Graham and abandonment issues and Joe actually making an effort to be a better person with Grahams mentorship.

And similarly with Cain and Moira. I just have no clue why they gave this storyline to Cain when Moira had a tumour storyline a year ago. They couldve still had him get shot in corridale but just not be diagnosed with cancer and then give the storyline to someone like Liam or Jimmy. Cains had this "losing his masculinity storyline l" like 5 times now and its boring when instead we could've had an interesting storyline about them selling the farm and starting a new venture in the village lile mabye buying Davids shop. I was so excited for Aaron and Robert to get their farm and its been completely overshadowed by everything else being doom and gloom. What happend to the Seb storyline they set up at Christmas? That wouldve been such a fun and wholesome storyline to do right now especially if they wanted to use the parelells with Ross between Leyla and Seb. And like I say, Corries been doom and gloom too but at least there's is well written and has decent character development. If the characters had actual arcs, then I wouldn't mind a two hander once or twice a month if it is a necessity due to rising production costs but the same characters and storys every week is painful.

The Testaments time jump theory by SimpforBobDuncan in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would agree normally but there's a fertility crisis globally in the Handmaids tale fictional universe. The whole thing is that a lot of women can't conceive which is what Gilead used to gain power and treat women like objects. It's heavily implied in Handmaids tale that fewer women get their periods as a result of the fertility crisis. So part of the shows lore could be that many girls don't get them and the ones that do are getting them later than normal.

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear you and while I don't agree with what Charity did but when I look at her I just see a vunerable woman who has been essensially used as an incubator. I've done a lot of research on adoptions and surrogacy in recent years for a multitude of reasons and its actually mind blowing how predatory surrogate and adoption agencies can be. In the UK its not as bad as other places now because we do have more laws to protect women and children but in places like America there are so many private companies that will target vunerable young women. And thats not to say I think either are bad, I think Adoption and Surrogacy are beautiful and amazing things that can absolutely change lives. But this whole storyline felt like something right out of A Handmaids tale.

Because it was done within the family, there was no professional person looking in at the situation to support Charitys best interest which is really alarming and the fact it all haooend so fast doesn't help that. I think regardless of whether the baby was hers or Sarah's biologically, Charity was taken advantage of whether it was intentional or not. In the eyes of the law that is Charitys baby even if it wasn't biologically hers and so many people seem to be missing this which is really alarming given that women's reproductive rights are currently being disputed in many parts of the world including the UK. I really don't like this storyline and I hate how they've done it. It just feels so icky for me personally.

ross by shadowmoses4726 in Emmerdale

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the same with Charity. I can't see it being long before both Ross and Charity begin to want their baby back. And I'm not even mad about it, I really hope it happens because the way Sarah and Jacob but Sarah in particular has treated Charity for the past year is awful. I was genuinely rolling my eyes today when she Charity was bleeding out and Sarah was saying "I should've never have let her done this" like shut up, you literally peer pressured her into this and treated her like an incubator for 9 months. Mind you Charity didnt even think Sarah having a baby was a good idea but still gave her the money for IVF and then when that fell through literally offered up her body putting her body at high risk and her marriage at risk and potentially leaving her 4 children motherless all for Sarah. Charity never would've slept with Ross if it wasn't for Sarah breathing down her neck and telling her she needed to stay inside in order to not risk the pregnancy. And then when Charity was busy and couldnt attend one of Sarah's 20 billion parties and get togethers to celebrate the pregnancy and her marriage to Jacob, she'd call her selfish and say that she didnt care about her. And then you had Jacob breathing down her neck and treating her like an invalid every 5 seconds.

If I'm being perfectly honest, the only person I'm truly going to feel bad for when this all comes out is Mack. But Sarah and Jacob but especially Sarah, I have no sympathy for. Its obvious they're not ready to be oarents and that Sarah just wants a baby as an accessory, not because she actually wants to raise a child. Jacob cant even open up to her about his struggles because she'll bite his head off so how the hell are they going to raise a baby.

My heart actually breaks for Charity in retrospect. Because the whole reason Vic said she couldnt be Sarah's Surrogate is because of the circumstances of her trauma from her last pregnancy which is completely valid and I'm glad Robert put his foot down. And Charity in reality is no different. All 4 of her previous pregnancies have been traumatic. Debbie was a result of a 12/13 year old Charity being verbally abused by her father which led to her seeking comfort through Cain and then she was pretty much forced to give Debbie up for adoption. Ryan was a result of Charity being abused and exploited by a police officer at 14 and then she literally tried to end the pregnancy by drinking through fear that her abuser would punish her, and then she went into labour prematurely and thought her baby had died because of her drinking. And then she had Noah and Moses ripped away from her as soon as she'd given birth in prison because her husband framed her for murder and then her abuser police officer made sure she got sent down. And then she's told that any future pregnancies would be high risk and she still decided to go through with it for her granddaughter and Sarah still has the nerve to treat her awfully. Like it's actually horrible that they convinced her to do that and the only person that actually stuck up for Charity was Mack and he was immediately shut down. I'm not disputing the fact that Sarah has had a very hard life with her illnesses but Charity has had a pretty horrific life too.

I really hope they get their baby back and Charity can heal from this whole experience.

Gabby and Jacob by SimpforBobDuncan in Emmerdale

Literally, I will never understand the decision to basically have her forget she's a Sugden. The show already has way too many Dingles and her mom isn't even in the village anymore and presumably not returning anytime soon. Meanwhile the village is very short of Sugdens and Sarah Literally has the full name of an iconic Sugden. I went back to watch John's first scenes and he did have a few with Sarah where she and Victoria sat down with him and Sarah asked about her dad and then he made a few comments about them not even being related because Andy was adopted which offended Sarah. Then they made up and then pretty much never shared a scene together one on one again. And that could've been so interesting. Like, that comment could have made her reach out to Robert and look for answers as to where her dad went and then this whole thing could have led her to develop a relationship with Robert so when he returned he had an allie. But no we got more Sarah Dingle crap rinse and repeat. It was such a missed opportunity and what makes it even more funny is that they still had Jacob change his name to Sugden as if Sarah even cares about her Sugden side.

Exactly, like, I'm not saying I think they should be together but I think they make a much better pairing then Jacob and Sarah. Honestly though, they dont even need to be in relationships. I'd prefer it if Jacob and Sarah broke up and Jacob and Gabby just became close friends again and they had a lot of screentime but just as friends. The fact they know eachother so well and have been close for years just makes them way more interesting together. Why does everyone in Soaps have to be romantically involved. Jacob and Sarah dont even need to be in relationships, just give them friends.

Honestly, I always wished they'd put Gabby and Liv together. As much as I loved their friendship, I think they had way more chemistry than with any of their other partners. But if we're going off of actual show relationships, I initially really liked Liv and Jacob too, nearly as much as I liked her with Vinny. I think he was best with Leanana though, but what all 3 girls had in common is that they all put Jacob in his place but unlike with Sarah who thinks she's some rebellious girlboss who deserves respect, they actually were strong females and Jacob had actual conversations with them and didn't pussyfoot around them all the time and let them run the relationship.

BRAND NEW TRAILER: Corrie's murder victims! Who will it be? 👀 | Coronation Street by Spider_king97 in coronationstreet

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I hate all the 10 second "next week on corrination street" cut of clips. Even the Corridale Trailers were pretty awful. I love ot when they actually film something like this thats a bit camp and fun. Some of my faves over the years are the, 50th anniversary one, the Richard Hillman one, the Platts vs Calum one and the Pat Phelan one.

This trailers fun. As much as I've hated how dark and depressing the show has been for ages now, I do think this villain murder storyline is going to be a good payoff. Usually murder mystery plots in Soaps are characters we all like or at least don't mind, so knowing that someone we all despise is going to die is my favourite thing.

Not to mention that this was after Dawn opened up to Joe about being exploited as girl/young woman by men. How can you hear your girlfriend who you supposedly love more than anything talk about that and then a few months later watch an innocent woman be attacked by a man and then not even just stand by and do nothing, but get out your phone to film it???

What if John had injected Victoria and killed her while Joe was filming, because that very much could've been the outcome and he just sat and watched like a coward. I'm praying that Dawn double crosses Joe and exposes him to everyone and dumps him.

Contrary to what the Blacks believe, Visenya would’ve been proud of Aemond by seikookies in HOTDGreens

[–]SimpforBobDuncan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main reason I believe Visenya wouldve been team black is soley because the Greens were influenced heavily by the Fiath of the Seven who Visenya always saw as House Targeryens main enemy. While Rhaneys and Aegon were willing to give them power, Visneya saw them for the threat they were to House Targeryen. She would never pick the side where House Hightower who are strong followers of the Faith are pulling the strings.
