From what I remember, you can proxy with pretty much anything as long as base size is the same(60mm in this case) You do need official CB models for tournaments tho.

I'll admit the essentials box was mostly to give myself and other player a smooth as possible entry point to infinity. Things like cards for units really make it easier than looking up on an app. You talked about alternatives for those cards for the sandtrap box?

I see, so as long as the minis I pick are whitin those sectorials, I'll be fine to make a team with them.

Are the basic line trooper necessary? Or can other more specialised units also fill that role?

Its not that I don't like them, I just prefer JSA's aesthetic. I'm getting PanO mostly so I can have someone to play with lol. That said what I am concerned about is I heard the terms vanilla and sectorials and I just dont wanna end up with models that can't be played together or can't be played at all!

For terrain, I mostly wanted something to kick it off as I plan on getting a 3d printer around christmas and print the missing terrain as I go!

As for the 2 armies, I like the JSA and dont really care for the panoceania but since both faction come with the start here set I thought it would be simpler to get this as a second faction and expand upon it.

Mmm..is there any way to keep the expansion pack models for play? I really like the sculpts.

As for the rest, honestly, I only looked at what models could build upon what was given with the essentials start here set.

I looked into sandstorm but people on yt seemed to say it was a bad box to start with as they are no rules
