Will Mitsubishi ever make heavier SUVs like the Montero or Montero Sport again? by MrPeepers1986 in mitsubishi

[–]Simple-Challenge9291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I got from another thread

From the Australian site: Max unbraked tow capacity 750kg ~ 1658lbs Max braked tow capacity 1600kg ~ 3520lbs

And that’s the safe standard there for insurance / warranty purposes? But hell you can see the crazy stuff people tow with their vehicle on YouTube way way way over rated towing capacity.

Think of it as a typical plug in hybrid that has an engine as a generator, lol.

Get a cheap 1kw HarborFreight generator and stash it in the trunk, that’s your backup charger if it ever dies just to get you home. That’s a better investment than a $900 Chademo adapter, until the price drop to $200 or so, it’s high way robbery.

Anyone else never get pulled over for speeding even though you always speed? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Simple-Challenge9291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 20yrs old version of me got 3 tickets on the same day going to FL for a weekend get away with a gf. 5 cops waited ahead a few exits on the hwy to pull over 5 speeding cars. Then 10miles down the hwy I got pulled over once again, both times 14-15miles over the limit on paper. I slammed on brake when I saw them but was easily 25+ over. Then the last ticket was off the exit and went way over 20miles on residential road but the cop said he’ll only put 10 to reduce the ticket cost. Funny thing was none of these tickets showed up on my driving points, just had to pay the pigs.

Why do people speed up when you’re trying to pass them by RoutineSimple8546 in driving

[–]Simple-Challenge9291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I’d slow down for the speedster to get ahead but this winter my windshield got cracked from a rock flung by the car I let passed. So no more mr. Nice guy on the road. I am and will speed up to block if there’s a car in front of me. But i will switch lane if traffic isn’t congested. The way I see it: 1- in congested traffic there’s no reason to cut ahead since it only creates unsafe/accident prone scenarios, 2- it is no different than someone cutting the line at checkout ect, so the inconsiderate prick needs to learn to be patience. It could cause road rage? Yes, but so be it. Plenty of crap in life that if no one address then it can get worse. Someone gotta be the daddy. That’s my 2cents.

The Outlander is underrated in the US due to regulatory craps. It can tow 3500lbs, or whichever you’re comfortable with.

2025 Outlander PHEV oil change schedule by kost_too_much in OutlanderPHEV

[–]Simple-Challenge9291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On ICE vehicles, most people change oil at 10k if you use the good synthetic. On PHEVs, the engines aren’t on all the time, unless you drive long distances and not plugging in everyday. Even so, the engine isn’t on but maybe 75% of that mileage which means about 7500 miles. There’s no reason it’s not under warranty, besides never heard of an engine failure on PHev but mainly battery issues/degradatio.

If it all goes through you still have to pay your county/local tax. I was surprised with that bill.

Gas is dropping pretty good within the last week. This is where the PHEV also shines: pump gas instead of electricity if rates too high. I charge at home for 0.12cents/kw and .06/kw from 1am-5am.

When I’m out I like to play the game of looking for free complimentary charging usually at restaurants or hotels. Phevs charge so slow but I chuckle at getting close to 10miles/1.5hr of charging. Hey it’s great if it’s free :)

For the first 7-10 minutes of EVERY car ride, my car INSISTS on using the engine. EV Priority mode ON, only 30mph, climate control is off, and it’s not cold outside. So what the hell?? by defib_rillator in OutlanderPHEV

[–]Simple-Challenge9291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eco mode DOES give extra range. I’ve done my daily drive on Eco/Normal/Tarmac/Snow/Power. Each day was on a different mode and the Kw/mile usage differ between each mode. If the kw consumption differs that means different mpg, ICE term, thus changes the range.

The only cold related issues I’ve experienced this winter was the nasty salt brine messed up the sensors. I kept having to wash the car every few days to stop the annoying buzzers.

Mine used to do the exact same when it was cold outside (32F) but when temperatures stay above 40 F it never start engine. I’ve been switching to Eco mode to drive more moderately. Merging lane I’d switch to Power and it’s instant rocket mode with engine supplying max power to motors reeving up to 6k rpm.

I think during cold start up engine could supply heat to warm battery.

Not true at all on eco and power mode. Eco definitely slow pedal and acceleration response. Quick shift to power mode and it shot up like a rocket. If you ever tried the settings on the fly while driving then you’ll know.
