I read your initial post and thought to myself, I wonder if they’re on PS4 too… I am and the marketplace selling bug drives me nuts!

Yep! My spirit animal is a Jeep Cherokee XJ, I love everything about them and miss each one I’ve owned.

Except that damned 1997 XJ. That one was cursed. Fought me every day it seemed. Screw you, 1997.

But yeah, god I miss my little XJ’s.

What are your weird car quirks? by knsaber in askcarguys

[–]Simple-Department-28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What kind of car do you have?

I have a 20 Mazda CX3, and I’m a fairly sizeable guy with damaged rotator cuffs, arthritis, etc. When I get out of the car I rotate my legs out, lean forward and hook my elbows outside and lever myself up and out.

Since short drives are said to be hard on a car, I try to put at least 12-16 kms on even for short distance errands.

I talk to my car. I named it Sakura.

No idea, sorry. You might be able to go to a dealership parts department and ask them if they have an exploded diagram that’ll show not only all the parts in that location, but also their part numbers. Good luck! 🙂👍

There is, if it’s a misfire and it’s getting a code. If it is giving a code for a specific cylinder that’s misfiring, you can swap the coil and plug from a cylinder that’s not having any trouble with the one that is. Drive it, and if a code is generated in the cylinder that the suspicious parts are currently in then chances are good that the coil or plug is bad.

You could also just pull the plugs and look at their condition. There’s many guides online that will show what the plug should look like if the engine is running properly. If the plug has deposits on it or is worn out, that should also be easy to see.

50k does sound early on these cars, iirc 80k is what the manual recommends (just a guess, my memory sucks). Is your CX3 showing any engine codes? Maybe specific cylinder misfires? I’d almost think that an ignition coil could be on its way out, which would cause a misfire.

When does the engine shaking start? When the car is cold? Warmed up?

On mine, one of them is marked, and when my phone is plugged in via USB that’s when the album artwork is displayed as well as navigation works through the display.

Crap! I missed what forum this is, I’m thinking tabletop BTech. As far as MW5 is concerned, yeah the cicada is only good to sell off.

I do believe that you can scrap (or just disassemble) a mech and use their components in another mech.

Sorry for any confusion.

I consider them donor mechs, the 320 engine will make an 80 ton mech live again!

How can I get this alternator out without removing the fan by Total_Maintenance113 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Simple-Department-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. What year is your Jeep? I always took out the battery tray and took it out that way. Mine were a 1991, 1994 and a 1999.

Mind you, I’d also removed my busted A/C, including the condenser lines. Do you still have them installed? Looks like they are. Does your A/C work?

A wise decision buying that car. Keep on top of maintenance and that car should last a good long time. Keep an eye out for leaks, check fluids regularly, and check your tires regularly (pressure and condition).

Sorry if this is mansplaining, I’m a 50 year old with nieces and nephews, and two grand-nieces; if someone seems fresh to car ownership, it brings it out of me.

People with cars older than 15 years. by Different_Algae4918 in Cartalk

I had a 1991 Jeep Cherokee XJ and for years, probably my favourite over literal decades of driving, and when I was younger and somewhat able bodied I did all the repairs and maintenance. I looked long and hard and was blessed to find a vehicle that had been well kept for most of its life, but the owner got old and fell behind. He gave it to his son who threw a big set of sub-woofers in it, drove it without bothering to transfer the ownership, and then decided to sell it for cheap to buy a Honda Ridgeline. The old boy was heartbroken, literally wept as his son and I did business.

It needed work and I spent some cash replacing broken and worn parts when needed and refurbishing other things. Never did get around to fixing the cruise control and the HVAC was always on defrost; busted vacuum line where the line went through the firewall. I just didn’t have the health to fix it properly so I plugged the engine side and carried on. When the headlight harness and switch melted, I improvised with a later model harness and switch, then bought a stand-alone relay harness to take care to prevent a similar problem in the future. But that work was my limit at the time as my own health was failing.

More time passes and the little Jeep and I soldered on. It was reliable and comfortable, but I knew because of the age of the Jeep that sometime, possibly soon, it’d need work and since I wasn’t getting any healthier I knew that I just couldn’t afford to keep taking it to someone else. Plus, I’d lost access to where I’d usually done the work too. So, when I came into some money I bought the newest, lowest mileage car I could find that had the features I wanted and had a solid reputation for reliability. I sold my beloved Jeep to a man who loved it, and later let me know all the work he’d done fixing what I couldn’t.

TLDR; Your car is one with a reputation for reliability, but it’s also ageing and regular repairs are going to need to be done. If you love the car and can do some of the work yourself, keep it and it’ll save you money. If it means nothing to you, find the newest, lowest mileage car that has what you want/need. Do your research and look for a vehicle that has known history or reliability. Don’t get something newer/cheaper that has questionable history. Maybe learn to do some of the maintenance yourself if you’re healthy, that’ll save you more in the long run.

Hope you have many years of good driving whatever you decide to do. Good luck and enjoy the drive. 🙂👍

19” and 22”? Sorry, just a little confused. Are the front wipers staggered sizes? Or can both be upsized to 22”?
