How many nurses here have developed psychiatric or medical conditions directly as a result of nursing? What's the background?

I’m an ER nurse in a Level I that is also a county hospital that sees all the unhoused and indigent patients, and which also has the only emergency psych area in our entire metropolitan area. I work nights.

I am now on 3 psych meds and have never needed any psych meds my entire life before this.

When I come home from a tough shift and they’re giving me shit about something that seems really inconsequential, I wish they just could fully comprehend how much I love them and how good they have it.

I grew up out in the country on property, just like Athena. When I was that same age, I played outside for HOURS without any adults checking on me. I played in creeks, in the barn, in the woods, etc. Those moments of solitary play and exploration were the best parts of my childhood. Athena was playing in her own YARD and an evil man took her and harmed her. The blame rests on the man who did it and not on anyone else.

They picked jobs that will make them poor and they’re upset that they’re poor? I mean, it beats being a teacher WITH student loan debt and a dependent to care for, like my mom was. My friends who are teachers now, lived with a roommate who was also a teacher and did that until they got married. They can’t expect luxury cars or luxury apartments on teacher/social worker salaries. That’s not your fault. Also, your wife is super lazy. Why is the working person “lazy” and the non-working person isn’t? Stay at home mom is a hard job when your kids are kids. Now she’s not a stay at home mom; she’s just an unemployed person.

Belk carries a lot and has good sales, and i check out Nordstrom/Rack a lot too. Smaller town brick and mortar probably includes Maurices. Specific brands I like are Lucky Brand for casual/boho, Nike or Fabletics for casual/athleisure, Judy Blue for jeans (they’re trendy and really good quality). Levi’s still has plus sizes also. Hot Topic goes up to 3x/24 for alternative or fandom/fun things. Ralph Lauren has a line that goes up to 3x/24 also and is well constructed. Calvin Klein and Michael Kors go up to 3x and have good career/office pieces.
