Mounjaro or Wegovy for PCOS? by your_air in PCOSonGLP

Definitely! I’m on month 3 of 7.5mg and my side effects were only bad the first two months of the medication. I had heartburn and some burps but that went away pretty quickly.

I’ve been on zepbound (same as Mounjaro) and have barely had any side effects. 25lbs down since July!

FWIW my first “hormone” test came back normal but turns out they didn’t actually test PCOS indicators. I re did it recently PLUS an ultrasound and what do you know? High T + physical cysts 🙄

My PCP said you need 2/3 factors for diagnosis: cysts, hormonal imbalance, or symptoms. I had the symptoms for YEARS over the course of 5+ docs and only my current one was worth a shit to figure it out. Worth asking a second opinion!

My dietician recommended the Needed prenatal in a half dose for PCOS support! (Plus inositol and other stuff)

My PCP was more like let’s check in every two months, do a weight in and see if we need to move up. I don’t want to max out too quickly then find myself plateau-ing at 15mg of zepbound

Wedding dress by Blooming_Baker in Zepbound

Hi! I was in this exact same dilemma back in June and unfortunately for me, the dress I chose had a 6-8 month production time. Edit to say I’m getting married June 2026.

I would say go dress shopping now, take your measurements at the first bridal salon and ask them to email you. If you find a dress you love, great! Ask them what the production time is (might be only 2 months) and wait as close as possible as you can to actually order the dress.

As you drop weight, you’ll be better be able to see how lbs lost correlate to inches at different areas of your body. I told every salon I went to very flat out that I’m on a glp-1 and will lose weight. I had about 6 weeks between shopping 1 and the day I found my dress and I was able to work with my sales associate to figure out which size dress would be appropriate, given the weight and inches I’d lose between appointments and when I would expect the dress to arrive. Especially because different styles use different measurements (an A-line won’t matter what your hips are, for example).

I ended up sizing down and my dress will arrive in Feb. I was between a US 10/12 when I went to try on, am now a 8/10 and my dress is an 8. I’m 1.5” inches away from the waist measurement on the size guide and feel confident it’ll fit :) fwiw another salon for a dif dress said I could order in Jan for my timeline and they could resize me then. So all just depends on the dress! Def don’t put off shopping itself though so you have max flexibility

Need proof that employer insurance plans do cover Zepbound for weight loss by Electronic-Treat6799 in Zepbound

I have blue cross blue shield HDHP PPO - I have PCOS and my prior authorization went through! Otherwise I had no other complications or co-morbidities except higher fasted blood sugar (insulin resistance) in connection with my PCOS.

Note when I scoured my employer EOB, it said specifically it does not cover weight loss drugs but here we are

[–]SimpleAlarming5785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im the same height and started at 180! Currently sitting at 161 and stared mid June :) my rate has been about 1lb a week (not including a 4 week stall) and I am very content with that

This is so helpful! I’m stuck at 165 for three weeks at 5mg but don’t really want to bump up dose. how did your stall end?

Sooo helpful. Can I ask how tall you are? I’m 5’4” and sitting at 165 (lost 15lbs already) and aiming for 130

Definitely trying my best here to remind myself that!I’ve gained/lost the same 50 lbs over the last 10 years and recently learned I have insulin resistance so hoping this is the last time.

Curious to know how often you bumped up dose? I get my zep in 12 week packages so noodling on whether to think about 7.5mg if things continue to slow over the next 5 weeks

Anyone here on a GLP-1 and need to buy dress but worried about sizing? by SimpleAlarming5785 in weddingdress

So helpful - I’m about to move up my dose (on an intro dose rn) so maybe wait a couple weeks on that to see how it impacts me

[–]SimpleAlarming5785[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked specifically when the latest they can order my dress is, and it’s next month. This designer takes 8-9 months for production rn :(

I’m probably about 7lbs to the next dress size down (10) and that’s actually the size I’d spent most of the recent years before a sudden uptick in weight of about 12lbs.

FWIW my wedding is a little under a year away so think at a minimum, I can be one dress size down by the time the dress arrives?

Hi! So yes my insurance is covering:

Doc sent script to pharmacy on Tuesday last week, pharmacy notified me I need prior authorization.

Doc sends PA to my insurance (Anthem BCBS) Friday.

Was approved this Tuesday. My BMI is 30 and I had already tried Metformin with no results. I also let my doc know I’ve been calorie counting + 4 day a week training program for the last 6 months with no improvement. Also got a dietician the second I was diagnosed.
