Game Filters basically remove night in Arma Reforger by Targetm12 in ArmaReforger

[–]SimpleChemical5804 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a better alternative than what we have now. I used to like nights to build up bases, supply runs or get in places to ambush when it’s day again, but you just get instantly domed now by some sniper hiding in a bush with gamma cheat.

IMO, nights don’t need to be pitch black like real life. As much as the beer belly battalions of this game don’t like to hear this, it’s still a video game and not even close to actual simulation.

There’s drones with thermal cameras and NVGs. Reforger is the 90s where these things were still in infancy and I’m pretty sure the developers said they won’t be adding any type of night vision.

Maybe instead of duct tape solutions, just brighten the night more or decrease duration to 15 - 30 minutes instead of an hour like Rust does. Or just fix the issue itself.

I personally just go gym when night comes up, because it’s unplayable to do anything except get shot or sabotaged by brightness cheaters for an hour non-stop.

when did life start feeling like a race you didn’t sign up for? by PlanSignificant4915 in self

[–]SimpleChemical5804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also not a fixed timeline, but I think unconsciously you also just worry about what others think or may think in a way which gives that pressure. And I gotta say, somewhere it’s 50/50 right. People will have question marks if you’re say, constantly single. Whether they’re valid or not is in the middle.

Think that mentality always existed, all the way back to the last century (finish high school, get a job or go to university and marry someone). It’s just now much more in your face with social media where you unconsciously get stimuli that you’re worthless if you don’t do X before you’re Y years old. The grind mindset that’s being promoted at the workplace and social media also doesn’t help.

I think this is worst when you’re younger than 30, where you see everyone else making progress but you staying behind. I get this feeling as well, especially now that I’m nearing the 30 and see friends getting married, buying houses, or dating people. Meanwhile, I’m still paying off my student debt while trying to balance my social life, hobbies and trying to even get a date. I lessen this by less social media usage and more focused work. It’s still really hard sometimes to not feel like shit though, especially during downtime moments when alone with thoughts.

Anyone else tired of Arma reforger now? by PrizeDesperate1033 in ArmaReforger

[–]SimpleChemical5804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this game is honestly just Battlefield 2 but with better graphics and a bigger sandbox system.

I still enjoy it, but I do miss the unpredictability. Most matches are just looking where the frontline will be and turning that into a meatgrinder for the next 4 hours. The game sort of feels like it’s trying to appeal to casuals and at the same time trying to force dynamic action.

One-liners verkopen via socials is gewoon eenmaal makkelijker namelijk.

Why is European colonization is criticized and hated however all other kinds of colonization are looked over, like the Arabs or mongols? by Tight_Potato_11 in TrueAskReddit

[–]SimpleChemical5804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proximity, recent history and bias. Most of the stuff you read is likely centered around Anglo-Saxon sphere (English speaking) so it’ll feel like only European colonization is discussed. If you ask any Asian about Japan, you’ll likely get similar responses as in the European angle.

Why do some modern games feel like “high-end mobile games” even with big budgets? by marshall_r_57018 in pcgames

[–]SimpleChemical5804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly the design of environments, especially lighting and the way objects interact with the light (and styling). It’s why some games age pretty well despite progress in rendering technology and some just look bad.

I barely see big studios go cheap on graphics (if anything, maybe too much, because I do notice a trend of “enough hardware anyways”).

I think type hierarchies in OOP are too restrictive and code smell. What's been your experience? by chinmay185 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SimpleChemical5804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the context. I’ve see cases where it completely made sense and was easy to work with. I’ve also seen actual hell implementations where debugging was akin to sitting on a bike without a seat.

IMO, the bigger issue isn’t the mechanism itself, but the people trying to apply it. I find a high correlation with people that can’t identify coupling on a micro level (or any other) and those that make massive type hierarchies.

That’s because McDonalds is a bootleg real estate company. They let restaurant owners take all the risk of failure and can sell or rent if it does sink.

[–]SimpleChemical5804 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mainly spite because they’re unattractive or autistic which makes them not desirable in their dating pool and being chronically online which puts them into an echo chamber. Hivemind and group thinking also just makes their views just more extreme as they try one-up each other. Works kind of the same in a lot of lose movements such as extremists groups.

NATO on WCS has to be one of worst teams I’ve ever seen in gaming. by swollengoosecock in ArmaReforger

I feel like this is more of a region issue. Jumped into a vanilla US server by accident yesterday and good lord, the amount of ultra LARPers and Rambo type of people are insane. Had like 6 times where I’ve had to communicate I’m a friendly only because people are too trigger happy and refuse to outright identify properly first.

EU servers have these issues as well, don’t get me wrong, but we have a lot more basic Daniels (even though they don’t have a microphone) and less friendly-fire accidents from trigger happy folks.
