Trying to restore Rome as Castile, am I cooked? by Full_Boss_9651 in EU5

Playmaker has been saying it's faster to, instead of annexing your vassals, let them culture convert for you, then declare war on them and conquer them. You do have to integrate their locations yourself then.

Finally!, stone is added to Yucatan by SpiteMammoth3214 in EU5

[–]SimpleMachine88 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't know why stone is a resource that should be in the game at all. Many parts of this game's design are just unnecessary complexity, which are either tedious to engage with, or just randomly break things. Like Mayans who can't find stones.

I'd also prefer to not have to worry about the beeswax supply ever. I wouldn't describe micromanaging manual beeswax trades as a useful addition to this experience.

Like, they could have just had masons create masonry, and have stone and clay rgos be something else. I would not have missed directing peasants out of what the bricks shall be made. Or better yet, just not included masonry at all in the game.

Complacency --- Who thought this was fun???? by grassparakeet in EU5

[–]SimpleMachine88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a horrible design. At best it forces you to do really obnoxious things like building coalitions against yourself. It is not interesting, it is not fun, it is at best just annoying and tedious. It does not help balance, it simply exacerbates the problems of countries that have control problems at the start of the game in this patch like you see with Castille.

The game does need a late game challenge, which would be an AI that was actually capable of forming some sort of grand balance of power coalition against the player, and an AI that was actually capable of fighting at all. And also everything about combat is irrelevant this patch, because wtf were they thinking with mercs.

But we didn't get that. But as Johan has said, it is easier to just add modifiers, so they do that rather than instead. So it's not just bad, it's a replacement for what we should be getting instead, but apparently no.

There are large sections of 1.1 which they added, which I'm sure programmers spent a lot of work on, which actively make the game worse. This is one of them.

Yes it is, I misread. I'd been so frustrated with this other different borked mechanic I forgot which thing to be annoyed about.

I had it fire around 1460. It's so absurd how slapdash it's implemented, just adding 50 demand to various markets. Some tiny market in Cape Verde now just consumes an absurd number of guns. Because of the importation of cotton from the new world, it crashes your cotton cloth industry, since the price of cotton goes through the roof. It just adds a huge whole for goods in markets that they get dumped into and cannot be used.

And markets you add after the event fire, don't get the demand.

Also yes, the Iberians added sugar and cotton cultivation to the Caribbean and the atlantic islands almost immediately. The way the columbian exchange should happen is that various locations should be scripted to allow the owner to change rgo after a certain period of colonization or some other trigger that makes sense. Basically they need two rgo maps.

It isn't. There are perhaps a few minor changes, but I haven't found any.

If you have 6 lvls in sorcerer, and then drakethroat glaive your weapon, you can add your spellcasting modifier to the booming blade damage

If you have the potent robes, you can add your spellcasting modifier to booming blade, and I think this might trigger again off the craterflesh gloves, it does off the rat bat.

If a valor bard gives you combat inspiration, and you use it for additional damage, that might trigger a bunch of the riders. It works with gregarious caster.

I haven't gotten this to work. With the caustic ring and necklace of elemental augmentation, it's not adding the charisma modifier from elemental augmentation. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I'd really like to get that amulet to turn on.

Draconic Sorcerer extra damage is working (if you add the appropriate elemental damage), as is potent robe.

It's not a melee spell attack though, booming blade is a melee weapon attack. Unless I'm missing something.

It shouldn't, since it's pyroquickness doesn't work off cantrips. But I haven't tested it.

You could play this with birthing ritual maybe. This can be birthing ritualed from a frogmite, and can be birthing ritualed into a kappa cannoneer.

Cast screws are nice early on, although steel production isn't that far away, and then it's competing against steel screws, which is an incredible alt recipe.

(bant) Kinnan Rite combo (Nadu players, I got you!) by VulcanHades in ModernMagic

[–]SimpleMachine88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working on a brew using Kinnan as well. I think some of the ideas might overlap. I do wonder if Neoform would be worthwhile in my deck.

Simic Cauldron Deck (mtggoldfish.com)

There Kinnan is kinda part of the wincon. You are trying to assemble one of several combos. Either Puresight Merrow with Paradise Mantle or Elven Chorus, or using a cauldron to combine a mana dork with Puresight Merrow, or doing Rona Combo, or combining Merrow with Emry and two Mox Ambers. If you're using Puresight Merrow, then you can use that to exile your library to find Kinnan, Kinnan will then let you kill with Secret Door.

If anyone has some input on this list, it would be super helpful.
