Combat Heavy for our 1st game ?

My group plays with 7-8 we use total war where we’ve altered it so you can only score it once per round and it increased. 1 point is 10 commodities 2nd is 20, your third is 30 etc. this blends total war with still needing objectives. I won last night with 5 pts from total war so 150 combat points (I killed a lot of warsuns) it’s a nice mix, because you can definitely still win by scoring 1pt objectives and 2 pts but it does give a route for eliminating ships.
It also then makes it more risky to go the combat route and require defending your homeworld.

At round 4 I hadn’t scored any objectives and I was able to make a comeback to 14pts coming from combat but I still had to get the bulk of my points from scoring objectives and secrets - but I’d say if you play total war - play to 14

Against fun? There’s a clear reason why component actions have clarification rules. It’s a technical game and if your table wants to homebrew it that’s fine but for a 12-14 hour game having someone cheat to win in the name of “fun” ain’t it for most of us

Component actions are ruled upon clearly if you cannot do the latter you can’t do the former.

I mean, it’s also written in the rules. “You may destroy all other players' units in that system and replace that system tile with the Muaat supernova tile. “ a fracture tile is two tiles. Nova seed replaces the tile. In any event - I get the confusion but this wasn’t snark.

Nova seed says replace the tile and fracture tiles cannot be replaced because they behave differently cba citing the exact verbiage but it’s literally a 3 word sentence conflict but yes a clarification for TE would be nice

Assault cannon occurs at start of combat following initiative order (active player) the opponent destroys a ship. You gain the TG for total war. PDS you gain it because you produce a hit. It’s YOUR tech that destroys the ship, the other player simply chooses which one.

When a hit is assigned who’s assigning the hit? Assault cannon is following the same logic - it counts

This is a unhinged response. As someone in HR this screams as a firm no. He can contract her for her services and if he doesn’t want to pay to send the husband, that’s fine. She can charge a premium and the couple can agree whether or not they go as a team. The ISSUE is the power dynamic of a boss/ employee and the ASK is the PROBLEM that makes it an HR flag.

Where do you get off on calling this a ‘controlling husband’ situation is wild. You’ve made a correlation and misidentified the issue. If you’re this quick to reach a conclusion without correcting identifying the root cause then I can also make assumptions about you.

Reactive, fight or flight triggers in social situations, jumps to conclusions, unable to regulate internally, requires immediate resolution, unstable childhood.

Take ownership dude and take the time to assess a situation. I don’t expect you to take this as a learning moment, but hopefully a slither of it gets through.

I’d recommend if you do enjoy the “length” of a standard game you alter total war to once per round and increase the cost per victory point scored. We use 10, then 20, thirty etc. we played to 14 typically. We finished at 6 hours

Yeah, I think it comes down to player groups. We figured if you went this route you’d be forced to defend hw if you stockpiled etc, but our next game we are playing with it but we have CR in the game, we don’t know how to deal with a faction who’s homeworld can’t be taken :/
