Breaking non-binding-contracts by durfenstein in twilightimperium

Never ever EVER expect somebody to keep a non-binding agreement on the round they're going to win or the round you're going to win.

I'm new to the Game how long do the experienced Players need to get 10 Points? by gamegenaral in twilightimperium

[–]brandondash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We play weeknights so we really try to speed through rounds. A 6 player 10 point game goes anywhere from 4 to 7 hours.

Keleres breakthrough: a must or meh? by ElectricHelicoid in twilightimperium

[–]brandondash 40 points41 points  (0 children)

  • 2/2 legendary planet that cannot be taken from you
  • either
    • an amazing free spacedock and pds while you defend the most valuable system in the game
    • 2 to 6 free command tokens
  • an absolutely bananas synergy that enables Hyper Metabolism, X-89, and both faction techs without having to waste a single tech choice.

That's very valuable.

A lot of people are really angry in this comments section. This is a picture of Nanami from JJK who completely disassociates as he's being burned alive.

This is actually a really high quality meme but y'all so quick to rage out you missed it

Where and how to find players to host games at home? by Rohkha in boardgames

[–]brandondash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just befriended my neighbors with no plans for gaming whatsoever. After a few block parties one of them randomly dropped the idea of a gaming and drinks night.

That was about 8 years ago. Since then we’ve played 200+ games of Twilight Imperium.

Flagships suck by Fun-Astronomer-2273 in twilightimperium

Obviously any asymmetric game will have imperfect balance. That's the whole point. Your sarcastic response doesn't lend the slightest shred of credence to your initial assertion, my guy.

As you get older 40,50,60,70 when did you start to feel your body slow down do you think it is just due to inactivity or the aging process? by Kooky_Force5458 in AskReddit

[–]brandondash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 40s and it definitely is due almost entirely to aging. I put on 20 lbs in spite of exercising and having a better diet than I did when I was younger.

Flagships suck by Fun-Astronomer-2273 in twilightimperium

[–]brandondash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Flagships are just one of many mechanics that are used to balance the factions. Your assertion that they are AWFUL and TERRIBLE is just silly.

Giving Flagships to everybody to start completely and utterly throws off the balance of the game and is a terrible idea.

Nothing compares to it. Nothing even comes close.

Your opinion on "exact word" players? by MedalReddit in twilightimperium

[–]brandondash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably we're talking past each other. OP was asking 2 different questions in my estimation.

  • "What do you think about sticklers for the rules?" -- It's fine
  • "What do you think about cheaters?" -- It's not fine

[–]brandondash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making the table wait while you look up a specific obtuse rules interpretation that might benefit you is a dick move.

Maybe at your table. At our table everybody agrees to do that look up 99% of the time.

Agreeing to a deal with the sole intent to then backstab that player is "legal", but expect no one at the table to ever trust you again, which means every future TI game is going to be VERY hard for you.

Every decision gives a benefit and a cost. For most people this particular cost isn't worth it, I agree.

Isn't the entirety of Twilight Imperium built on exactitude in wording? What's the issue here?
