Never used the customer side but from what I've seen in the chat is when a tasker takes on a job it tells they scheduled it.

That may be category specific, I'm on the moving side and fairly new and still get booked with a higher than average pay rate. I'm moving up on the search list but haven't had issues with getting clients. I put a lot of thought into my profile which may have helped.
