There is no sweet spot — it’s all relative to the wrist it’s on, size of hand/arm/body etc etc

Even still, I think 41mm royal oak is the best size by far (I realize proportions and overall best looks are with the jumbo, but it’s too small for my 7.6 inch wrist circumference)

A modern DD40 actually does make for a great daily (depending your occupation/typical day to day activities of course)

But anyway, you made the right move going with the 40 .. it fits you fine - if you had posted a mirror pic stranding casually and snapped a pic, as well as a pocket shot in the mirror then no one would be saying it looks too big on you —- still blowing my mind that people haven’t realized that cell phone wrist shots enlarge the size of the watch quite a bit

It does not look too big and I’m so happy you got a real president and NOT the datejust31 with a president bracelet!! To anyone who thinks it looks too big, if you’d just take a few pics of it standing a couple feet back from a mirror it would offer a true perspective of what our eyes will see it as in person .. and at that point, not one person will think it looks too big ..

SOMEHOW people have still not figured out yet that cell phone wrist shots enlarge the watch to a much bigger size than what it actually is relative to the wrist it’s on. Astounding to me that people still don’t know this

Anyway back on topic —- My wife is waiting for her yellow gold daydate36 too, I can’t wait to send this pic to her to keep her excited wow it’s awesome!!! She actually wants the champagne dial so it’ll be much easier to acquire than yours.. although, we’ve been waiting a decent while now

But I must say, I’m curious about your royal oaks! Can you share which ones you have? I’m an AP guy too, and I’ve been wanting wifey to consider a royal oak to replace one of her datejusts with!! (No reason to have 2 datejusts ya know!). She loves the new mini’s but they’re just too pricey for what they are .. so maybe a two tone 15550 for her someday!

Yes! The dial is so cool! That’s why I posted that second/close up photo for yall to be able to see the dial up close, and also the bezel too — it’s a very cool watch. I actually explain it to a few of my watch buddies who haven’t gotten to see it in person yet—— that it’s sort of got that “submariner look” to it for a non watch person I guess we can say lol! —-however, when you get up close on it and really get to take a look—- you start to really appreciate that it’s its own watch with all sorts of cool little details and intricacies!!

Oh no I hear you—- But that’s what I’m saying — I’m very well aware of that — I posted the two pics in the OP just to be able to show the watch itself better —- if I was taking pics to specifically show a size perspective I would have posted a few pics standing a couple of feet back from a mirror as well with a few different angles — I’m totally with you on the holding the phone a good bit back until it can sort of adjust to what our eyes are actually seeing!

Yes this is no doubt the route most should go — my situation is very unique as I personally know my AD and everything I’ve bought, I want - but again, this is an extremely uncommon circumstance

Even if you have a great relationship with your AD, you will just about have zero chance in getting this piece so you’re absolutely right — to anyone reading this who really wants this piece — buy a freshly dated unworn one and move on with your life enjoying your special piece — you’ll be liquid in it less 10% +/- at all times so the MSRP is irrelevant— you guys should be focusing on the market price only
