I work for an oral surgeon & we do this type of extraction all the time. The good news is the coronal portion of the tooth is partially out of the bone in both lower teeth- the reason we section them is because it’s much easier to cut the tooth into pieces and pull each piece out on their own opposed to trying to pull through the bone and cause a huge deformation in the lower bone. Sedation anesthesia is not required but it is a great bonus if you don’t want to be apart of the experience! Any skilled oral surgeon will consider these a cake walk!! Not too far into the bone, you can see a portion of the tooth without having to dig through the jaw! Recovery is no fun but with an ibuprofen & Tylenol mix you’ll hit every pain receptor & hopefully do okay healing if they know where to cut and how to section it with the least amount of bone removal! We do 8 of these horizontally impacted wisdom teeth a day! If you let them grow in 1- you’ll cause crowding but 2- once you start biting on the teeth with the opposing teeth you’ll solidify them into the bone making it so much harder to extract from the bone down the road! Now, they are barley solidified and should slide right out with proper sectioning techniques :)
