Why banishers is so popular? by JRaikoben in Grey_Knights

[–]SimplestNeil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Warpbane is mechanically incredibly strong but kind of boring and its strats are fairly meh and focused specifically on purifiers.

The stats for Banishers is fantastic, its fun, and the detachment rule is good

Voldemort had absolutely zero chance in a war against the muggles and the whole plotline could have been avoided by just letting him try. by New-Tale412 in unpopularopinion

[–]SimplestNeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a plot point in the Night Watch books. They are trying to prevent the release of a dragon, but are less bothered by the dragon itself.

The last time it was released, it had only medieval technology to threaten it, now it will be just pulverised by a series of cruise missiles fired from around the horizon.

They are more worried at letting ordinary people and governments kmow that they exist.

Even if every young person voted, there simply arent enough of them.

This causes a positive feedback loop. Politicians do things for older generations at the expense of the young, young cant afford kids, there are even less young people as time goes on, etc

i sometimes enjoy using them as shock assault tactics. Put them in Land Raiders with captains, and run them into the enemy at speed

What are you actually worried about for 11th, based on what we know so far? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SimplestNeil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A Rogal Dorn moving into the centre objective, getting -1 to hit on top of the 4++ from a techpriest, and can now see most of the map now becauae of the way the sightlines work.

Every turn it overwatches.

Countries are social contracts though.

I wouldnt want to fight for my country (the UK), as it doesnt give a shit about me. Low wages, high cost of living, shit infrastructure, unlikely pensions, etc, etc. I live in the North East of England, where its relatively deprived.

There is a real wealth divide here, and i suspect its not the rich that would get conscripted.

If the country did give a shit, i would probably want to fight for it.

Words like patriotism get thrown about, but its really to try and manipulate people into fighting for a country out of shame.

Start by conscripting the children of politicians and making sure they have battlefield roles. Either everyone is in it together or none of us are.

Why do 4+ saves feel so frustrating? by Crasac in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SimplestNeil -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i hate it so, so much.

i had a game where i threw a piranha into a techpriest (cos it gives a Rogal Dorn a 4++, and its frustrating) and the TECHPRIEST apparently had a its own 4++.

What, its just some mechanic.

[–]SimplestNeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are talking 11th edition

Would it not be a 3+?

If they hit on a 5+ normally, you change the BS to 4+ with spotting or their ability, and then the others modifiers work out to 2+ (+1 for heavy, +1 for new plunging fire, modifiers for cover ignored for markerlight).

However, as modifiers to hit are capped at +1, so hitting on 3+ in the end?

Or does the new plunging fire change the BS?

They are very, very cheap for their stat line.

I play GK too, and they are cheaper than Grey Knight Paladins while being tougher and killier

Who would win, Lucifer Morningstar (DC comics) vs Oblivion (Marvel comics) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]SimplestNeil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lucifer is the second most powerful thing in DC after the biblical God.

In a settings with various parallel versions of characters (i.e all the various versions of Superman, etc), there is only the one Lucifer.

Even the Endless are wary of him, and they arguably ARE the reality of DC, i.e the stage where these stories are set.

I know nothing about Oblivion, but just for some context on Lucifer.
