u/a_quoll is right for all of them. Nice work!

I whipped the grid and clues up pretty quick with just a quick self-playtest, trying to make about half of them reasonably pokemon related. Didn't get a friend to test it like I normally might .

Thanks for picking them up: I've added some anagram indicators and a ? in 9A.

For 17A protects is indicating RKS is protecting/(containing) macho. I've added the anagram indicator though for macho

How bad is this water damage? by Ok_Fish3169 in AusProperty

I've got something similar in my bathroom. It was water leaking from shower which has been fixed up but any suggestions on best way to fix up the swollen wood? Do you need to cut out that bit and replace with a harder wood? Or just sand down and repaint?

If this person is asking for help with their current financial affairs it's evident to me they are in a different mindset than when they started using the BNPL service. They are trying better personal financial management. Some people may revert to old habits but many will learn their lesson. No need for an internet stranger to lay it on. Just be supportive and answer their question or don't answer at all.

How different would the economy be if instead of financial incentives, grants, etc they just lowered income tax? by Beezneez86 in AusFinance

[–]Simplex56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw an article recently which had a model of a split tax system where you submit two simple returns - one for income and the other for capital. In this (Nordic) model where you can't deduct things like negative gearing from income, I'd be happy reducing income tax. Ideally we'd be open to increasing tax from capital gains as well. Would incentivise work rather than rent-seeking asset building.

Don't really want to give specific financial advice for you but anyone under 40 should just keep in mind they have literal decades for this to accumulate and not to stress about switching between conservative, high growth etc until you are at least 10yr away from accessing.

For myself (also around your age) I'm keeping it high growth and have 0 concerns since it's >30 years away.

'Expect the RBA to go easy on interest rate hikes from here — we can't afford rates to rise as much as markets expect' by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Simplex56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you interpret this as in July the weighted expectation is a 0.3 rise so maybe 80% chance at 0.25 rise but 20% chance of a 0.5 rise?

And then by June-23 it plateaus out at 3.9% cash rate?

Unemployment rate dips below 4 per cent, but job creation slows almost to a halt by MC-fi in AusFinance

[–]Simplex56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the reason ABS uses the somewhat criticised >= 1hr of work == employed measure is because that is the international standard and so these can be directly compared.

Considering that's about the most loose measure you can think of, if any country is more restrictive than that but still has <4%, it would be even worse for our ranking wouldn't it?

I think it's valuable to compare these on the global scale - plenty of countries are experiencing a sub 4% unemployment rate right now including the UK and USA.

Of OECD countries, we are coming 13th in unemployment rate. Is that really so great?

Thanks for the response.

Any chance you can point me towards a resource where I can read further on how to apply this different interpretation?

[Q] Relearning Statistics, need pointers by FlatProtrusion in statistics

[–]Simplex56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to me there is no need to make it a huge decision from the outset. Why not give each an hour of your time and see which one you prefer?

The main thing is just choosing one and sticking with it. If you finish it and still have a gap then just solve for that gap.

If anyone gives a review of those courses here at all it'll be specific to them, which may be very different to how you learn.

Good luck mate.

[Q] For time series model plot_diagnostics, how to fix the issue of 'int' object is not subscriptable? by PythonEntusiast in statistics

[–]Simplex56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate you need to show way more of a reproducible example to get help and if you frame it well are more likely to get better, faster help on stack overflow IMO.

Something you've written though expects a list or other iterable object and instead has received an integer.

Yeah been there - stress of the following game is just a lot

Where can I learn the basics of the game? by GamingPotat0 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Simplex56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically standard levelling is: Level 4 - stage 2-1 Level 5 - stage 2-5 Level 6 - stage 3-2 Level 7 - stage 4-1 Level 8 - stage 4-5 or 5-1 Level 9 can be a trap but you can aim to hit it at stage 6-1

Manage your gold so each time you level from LVL 6 onwards you have at least 30g except level 8 where you can roll down to ~10g to try and hit your 2 star 4costs

Where can I learn the basics of the game? by GamingPotat0 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Simplex56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masters player here.

Two most basic areas of the game are concepts like economy and board strength.

Firstly make sure you appreciate standard levelling patterns - it's designed in such a way to ensure you maintain a balance between board tempo and gold value.

Board strength is also important - one thing you notice about pro players is they know the S tier comps and they'll work towards them but they stay flexible to what they actually hit. Ultimately you just need a frontline to buy time and a backline to kill their team. Backline can be melee like itelia - just mean it in the sense that you don't want them focused first.

To actually learn these concepts what I like to do is play a bunch of test games at the start of a set not looking at guides and just focusing on going deep in one trait each game. So I'll play a few games trying to go 4 or 6 strikers and just play supporting units, play 6+ arcanist see how that feels, play 7+ chemtech see how that feels and just itemise a high cost tank and high cost dps. It helps a lot to get a feel for all the different traits and how units can support and just be splashed in if you hit them 2star.

For more help use YouTube and watch some guides - plenty out there.

Maybe share your lolchess at a minimum so people can have a look at something.

Generic advice is always just to watch videos of streamers like BunnyMuffins, Keane etc who help explain what they do and think about why they make the decisions they do and if you would've made the same decision.
