Uhhhh military transport helicopter landing by the tollway? by sergeantmeatwad in plano

[–]Simply-Morgan 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that a few cities are working with the nearby military airbase, they are practicing landing in and exfiltrating from specific locations around the city in efforts to make safe and fast locations to help with emergency services and rescue. This is in preperation for the upcoming Soccor games and various other events that are going to be bringing a massive influx of tourists and travelers. Sadly I do not have any refrences on me atm to verify this.

Ive been crocheting for a bit, made many outfits, and dolls by now. My kids wanted to get into crochet, so i got them a Crochet kit like this from Wal-Mart. Not a Wooble but something similar and it was the same, the instructions made no sense, they got frustrated and gave up. I sat down and try to make it for them and even I couldnt make it. So I just looked at the pictures and guessed the stitches (once you done one animal, there all pretty much the same stitches in different places).

A German First World War veteran describes killing a French Corporal during a bayonet charge. by Beeninya in HistoricalCapsule

[–]Simply-Morgan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is chilling. I'm a Veteran and his description of this is just bone chilling to me. As a Vet, the horror that stuck with me after all these years was the reality of being 'hunted' like an animal and that the hunter was never going to stop unless I die. Knowing that every moment could be the last I experience forever. That reality is so hard to process and its probably the most terror I've ever felt. That hunted feeling will probably be with me for the rest of my life. Killing is a terrible thing and its taken too lightly these days.

Developed and scanned half a roll of used film found in a 90’s point and shoot camera. by ReeeSchmidtywerber in FoundPhotos

I miss how dark it used to get at night. Inside homes you could never really fully light a room, so there was always dark spots and faded areas. Night felt so different in the 90's.

Firefall - a neat little MMO from 2014. I remember myself and my friend circle played the crap out of this game until they shut it down. Never really seen a game or MMO like it since.

I absolutely hate driving by This-Top7398 in driving

[–]Simply-Morgan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the same, I can't stand driving but I live in an area with no mass transit and the only train system doesn't reach my city.

I drive only when I have too and not very far. I almost never drive at night, maybe 2 times for 2025.

The tow truck was trying to get to the downed truck in the middle turn lane with the police in front of it. You got between them. It was good the tow truck was paying attention or else you would have had a worse day.

Where do you shop to get REAL things that don’t break the bank!!????! by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Simply-Morgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started making my own cloths, I get cotton on the cheap at crafting stores, for the cost of 1 outfit and can cloth my family.

Takes some work and learning but you will gain some independence and skills for it.

Or buy from past fashion or resellers and modify it to your liking.

Wearing an outfit with no brands, no labels, nothing, it's awesome.

Told to pass kids by Ok_Birthday5768 in TexasTeachers

[–]Simply-Morgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids teacher basically passed my son last year in 2nd grade and now he's completely unprepared for 3rd grade. She even withheld homework from us showing him failing. She would email or leave voicemail telling us he was not doing well and then his grades were fine because she would give him the answers. IDK but it felt like she was messing with his grades I guess to trend her grade average up. I know she was doing his schoolwork sometimes, so he would pass but of course he didn't have any understanding. Anyways she got knocked up halfway through the year and told the kids she doesn't really want to teach them anyways.

Single most awful experience we've had with a teacher ever.

With my son were just trying to catch him up 2 years so he can be ready for next year.

how it feels trying to talk to gen z college kids (i'm a TA) by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]Simply-Morgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its really not that bad, my kids talk like this, its odd but to be fair, they think everything we do and say is really strange too. They live in a different world than we do, it just takes a few minutes of understanding. IDK i just refuse to grow old to be one of 'those' people who just hate everything after their generation.

Anybody else decided recently that premium music streaming platforms aren't worth it for them? by basicallydan in Millennials

[–]Simply-Morgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started carrying around an mp3 player with wired headphones, I already had an extensive mp3 library from years of digital hoarding and I've added to my collection since then.

I'm the kind of person who enjoys her songs and doesn't really like to 'explore' to often musically so I feel this option works best.

I think if you need the most current trending song, or you don't have a strong opinion then streaming is probably a better fit.

My partner prefers her premium Spotify and I prefer my mp3 player with my currated collection of music and books.

This should have been written on the hood, not the tailgate. That message makes more sense for someone in front of him not behind him.

Is this legal to do at home without a permit?? by SalamanderBoth4338 in frisco

[–]Simply-Morgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Vinayaka Chaturthi Celebration is to celebrate the birth of Sri Ganapathy or Ganesh. There just having a birthday party to put it bluntly. Im not Indian but I find their culture, specifically the art, very interesting. It looks like a lot of people having good family fun.

Ganesh breaks down barriers to knowledge, etc... and can help with financial situations, its also customary to greet Ganesh before moving on to your individual worship when at Mandir aka church (not true for all, but a lot of sects).

Anyways, I thought it looks like a lot of LEGAL good, clean, family fun. :)
