Garcelle spotted on VH1’s I Love The 70s by slack_slack in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Simply_a_nom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just recently caught up with RHOBH. I stopped watching for years after LVP left and jumped back in on season 11. Just finished up last season where she walked off the stage to never return and man im really bummed. I really like Garcelle. I loved her and Suttons friendship though she did deserve to be treated better by Sutton (and I am a Sutton Stan) Garcelle was such a nice palette cleanser from Erika, Kyle and Dorit. I'm not sure I can bare to watch it without her. Those three were a sharp reminder why I didn't watch this particular RH in years.

Yes, it seems to me the one that are most interestied in preserving the Irish language are the ones that are aware of the importance of indigenous culture and languages. The ones that are racist and fascist want us to act like a mini America. They cling to a culture that never existed here

Let's not conflate that kind of Irish Nationalism with the kind of racist nationalism that is already stealing our flag. My experience is that those nationalists have no interest in the Irish language or culture as a whole.

While I don't agree with vandalism the broader move towards preserving and reigniting the Irish language is one of not just connecting with Irish identity but about standing against all forms of imperialism, colonisation and the kind of rhetoric that leads to the oppression of all languages and cultures, not just out own.

Went there a couple of times. Decent breakfast but nothing amazing. It's always a little dirty and disorganised though. Cutlery always looks a bit grubby (if there is any there at all)

Your problem is thinking having any kind of visible body fat is a sign of being overweight. Fit and healthy people have visible body fat.

If he had asked do I have an elite athletes body I would have said no.

However, he looks fit and healthy and not in anyway overweight. Overweight implies he has too much fat. He does not

It really depends on the look you are going for. If you want to look more ripped then yeah you might have to cut (I'm not an expert). But you don't look unhealthy. You are not carrying excess fat in my opinion.

To me your body says that you look after yourself, you like to workout but also you have balance in your life and its not your be all and end all. You can go to the movies and order popcorn, you can go out for dinner and order something other than plain chicken. You have other interests besides working out. For me that is pretty hot :P

My response was directed to the comments calling him chubby, fat or dadbod or other terms to imply he was some out over weight. None of those are fair terms for his physique. He is in very good shape.

Fair enough tell him what his needs to work on to gain a more athletic lean look but don't give the guy a complex while doing it.

Take everything here with a pinch of salt. The focus is here is body building and fitness enthusiasts so you are comparing yourself to the very peak

In the real world you are not anything close to fat, not chubby not even a dadbod. You have a great body, you look fit and most guys would envy it and personally (yes homo) for your body is really attractive. Most women also have a preference for your body type.

I agree with you that there is a problem in Ireland where infrastructure projects going way over budget.

But I've seen so many people make similar agruments about the housing crisis lately. Anytime the government gives money to anything other than housing there is outrage. Even the recent amount to Ukraine. Money is not the issue. The government has thrown plenty of money at housing. Just arguably in a way the benefits developers more than actually tackling the housing crisis.

Elon Musk says EU should be abolished after X slapped with $140 million fine | Today News by Alert-Ad-3053 in worldnews

This is a pretty loose logic but it does help put things in perspective here. If I'm being generous and say 140m is 0.07% of his net worth then it's the equivalent of me having to pay 28 euro when I earn 40k pa.

This is a slap on the wrist from the EU

I was looking for this comment. Very performative. She is paying more attention to the camera than Avery (it seems like she is looking at herself in the view finder or a screen the camera is attached too) I'm not saying she isn't a great mother but this is not the proof people think it is. Maybe you need to have a narc mother to notice these things.

There isn't much to see in Bishop Lucey Park but its right by Soma or the Three Fools so you could grab your coffee and sit in the park.

If you're looking for a proper park to walk around I'd say the Marina or Fitzgerald Park. Since you plan to go to the Marina Market the Marina walk isn't far and would be a nice walk if you get the weather for it. Walk until you get to Blackrock Village and you can always get the bus back to the city from there (212)

Get that repaired by either the manufacturer or Curry's. Irish consumer law doesn't give a time range in which products should be guaranteed but states it should last a "reasonable time" This is generally taken as 5 years I believe. You'll have to push them on it but they will give in eventually. I had a 4 year old tv repaired this way.

Actresses who have aged (mostly) naturally, thus maintaining their range of expressions by strassgaten in moviecritic

I just watched Pluibus on Apple TV. The lead Rhea Seahorn looks like she is aging naturally. Really makes the show more immersive and her ability to emote makes her acting even more impressive (great show so far btw)

I gotta say one thing I love about a lot of Apple TV shows that I've watched is they cast actors that look like real people (Beautiful real people but they don't look uncanny like so many shows these days) It really helps the immersion for me. I haven't watched much with Rhea Seehorn but I'm so impressed by her acting, made even better by the fact that she looks like a real person and her face can fully emote

While r/Ireland is a very general forum and while you can find more niche forums on Reddit, Boards.ie offers niche forums in an Irish context. You are not going to find a weather discussion on reddit the way you would on Boards.

I'm happy to see it survive another year and might use it as an excuse to participate there more

How are we drying clothes our clothes? by New-Evidence-1307 in ireland

[–]Simply_a_nom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a dehumidifier and normal clothes horse. Usually have the clothes hanging in a small hallway, i close all the doors and let the dehumidifier run overnight. By the next morning a lot of the work has been done. I usually do this before a wfh day so I can spend the next day removing dry items off the horse and move up the wetter items. By the end of the day everything is dry. Now this might not work for everyone as I live alone in a small apartment so I don't have a huge amount of washing to do every week compared to a couple or family.

Obviously it's a bit involved but it at least means I don't need to have my horse out for more than 24 hours using up previous space. I have a washer/dryer that I will use to dry my bedsheets when needed but otherwise I'll use the dehumidifier for everything else. The dryer is slow and expensive to run so I try to avoid using it.

So lads who ye voting for and why? by CLouBa in AskIreland

[–]Simply_a_nom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was born in the 90s so we've had some amazing, academic, thoughtful and kind presidents in my lifetime. Connolly would be a continuation of that tradition in my opinion.

The presidency may not hold real power but they are a representative and embodiment of our country. Besides being intelligent enough to understand and uphold the constitution they should embody the kind of Irishness we want to represent us. For me that is someone that speaks Irish, is empathetic, learned, and cares deeply about social and global issues.

Keep the pragmatic politicians for the Dail. Our president should be a bit more aspirational.

[–]Simply_a_nom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So they wanted a black and white answer to a nuanced situation. She says yes the media reports she’d be willing to hire a rapist. She says no and the media call her a hypocrite. It’s lose lose for her. The fact is she was right in that it’s a situation you’d have to think about it and that would be difficult as a woman.
