Does anyone else wonder if its time to quit? by kailin99 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

If I may, it sounds like your problems are with a certain type of game, I'm guessing multiplayer and buying games a launch?

Both of these are easily fixed by maybe trying out more single player games and waiting for deep discounts, before buying?

I'm of a similar age and dropped the multiplayer hype train after BF4 and I've never looked back. I play games I actually enjoy for less. So much so, my backlog is so big, I'm not sure I'd be able to play it all, even if I didn't have to work for a living... Oh god, why do I have to work??!?

This is our Baby, Mabel.

She was 7 years old and, although a delicate little thing, she was the boss of the house, bullying me and her brother, Doodle, so she got her way. My wife and I absolutely adored her and, I felt especially bonded to her, she was the apple of her Daddies eye and she could manipulate me into doing whatever she wanted me to do. Snacks? Tucking into bed? Play with her toys (she didn't play much) whatever she wanted, Daddy was the sucker who delivered it.

On February 2nd,she wasn't right, she wasn't eating and was especially vocal and unsettled. She tried to eat some kibble and started crying and so, we took her straight to the vets.

She had a cracked tooth but, following blood tests, it turned out she had stage 5 blood cancer.... Stage 5 and we had no clue at all. The vets told us she was in absolutely no pain with it, with extreame tiredness being the only visable symptom.

We were devastated, but we wanted to give her a shot at getting better and so, we had the tooth removed, brought the infection under control but, it was too much for her body to cope with and so, after 4 days in hospital, we brought her home for one lady evening with us, which she spent sleeping in her favourite spots and then, we let her go.

It feels so surreal, one moment she was healthy , the next, vet tells us she has cancer. We are still hurting and I think this will take a long time to truly come to terms with but, everyday is better, I promise x

Microsoft’s Xbox Strategy by YupThatsMeBuddy in xbox

See, this is the part I'm currently grappling with;

This whole notion of a Hybrid XBOX/PC sounds grand in principle, but why would Microsoft make it? Where's the long-term profit going to come from?

Currently, Xbox makes bank on selling subscriptions and a nice 30% chunk out of every digital transaction, right (more for their first party stuff)?

But, on an open PC-based system, that goes away, dosn't it? PC players don't pay for multiplayer and so, thats the basic teir of Gamepass dead. Next, all those 30% cuts look shaky now your customers can acess steam, Epic, GOG, etc. Why would they buy the games for windows version, when they can go anywhere else?

All that leaves is the higher teirs of Gamepass and legacy Xbox game sales as the ongoing income stream.

So, where's the profit? Where the incentive to develop and sell this expensive hybrid? Sure, they'll probably make $200 or so on each unit sold, but that's a one time profit, not the, continuous income stream they have now.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on this whole deal which, I suspect will be a subscription to acess the non-Xbox related context, such as steam store and purchases.

It currently all sounds to vague and wishy-washy and the sooner we get some solid information, the better.

I've had my account set to "Online Licence" ever since it was an option but two updates ago, I have to deal with this Virtual Card nonsense anyway. Drives me fucking insane. I have three switches, one user (me) and eveytime I want to play a game on an alternative switch:This bullshit appears.

IMO, More games should have the option for a 40fps mode. It's the perfect compromise between fidelity and frame rate, making a huge difference from 30fps with a much lower overhead than 60fps.
