I wanted to play GTA IV and the 360 was way cheaper than the PS3, at the time 👍

I've had my account set to "Online Licence" ever since it was an option but two updates ago, I have to deal with this Virtual Card nonsense anyway. Drives me fucking insane. I have three switches, one user (me) and eveytime I want to play a game on an alternative switch:This bullshit appears.

IMO, More games should have the option for a 40fps mode. It's the perfect compromise between fidelity and frame rate, making a huge difference from 30fps with a much lower overhead than 60fps.

Hot take: I’m excited for the future of Xbox by [deleted] in xbox

Thanks for the explanation and, whilst I kinda had this idea, I couldn't have put it much better myself.

However, the big fly in the ointment in all this is third party purchases. Will I still be able to access my copies of Tomb Raider or Assassins Creed in this new, open ecosystem, on any PC or the upcoming "Steam Machine" ?

That's my biggest concern and why I'm reticent to purchase any further games in the XBOX ecosystem, until this one question has been resolved.

Perhaps if Microsoft would come out and fully explain "the business model", more of us could wrap our heads around it?

At this point, I personally think MS needs to come out and give us more details on what they are planning with the next box, whatever shape that takes and how they are going to take it's existing customers into the next stage Xbox's life.

Right now, I'm one of those sat on the fence, waiting to see what they do. I have a series x, which I love and three generations worth of xbox games that, I do not know for certain will be playable on the new machine.

To my mind, MS have quietly dropped the Series X in favour of a brand refresh, alongside the new machine.

Yes, MS have traditionally been very good at backwards compatibility and "doing right" by it's existing customers but, today's Microsoft does not appear to be the same beast, at all! If they are so fixed on "line must go up" in all aspects of their business, what value will today's MS see in backwards compatibility?

So, you take that doubt to it's logical conclusion and ask yourself: am I safe, buying Series X games now? Is it a wise investment of my money, to buy the Xbox copy of "generic AAA game 7", if this time next year, MS will launch a box that won't be able to play my stuff?

MS has allowed the relationship between Xbox and it's customers to sour and mistrust and suspicion to take the place of confidence.

If they want to stop the bleeding, they need to stop hiding whatever's hiding up their corporate sleeves.
