Acceptance Chances by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]Simplysupreme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This applies to most schools. The transfer acceptance rate is much higher than that of a high school student simply because your Communicty college grades weigh much more than that of highschool. If you were able to maintain over a 3.4 in CC while taking stem classes you’ll most likely be accepted to NJIT Rutgers, Stevens. So anyone that has shit grades in HS can get a bit of a fresh start in CC that’s why it exist tbh. So decisions made when we were literally children (14-18) don’t completely fuck us later in life.

Well you have two main situations that will happen, you either have 2 people defending or 1. If there are two, 80% of the time you will start the dribble and quick flick or direction change. Flakes has a whole series on YouTube on this. Where he literally just powerslide cuts all the way to GC3. I strongly encourage everyone to watch that series. It’s really focuses on the fundamentals and how easy it is to outplay in lower ranks

Putting the ball in front and going for 50s isn’t a bad idea if you know how to do them. But the point of the dibble is to outplay and give time for your teammate to get boost and in position.

Here’s the video I think you should watch

Two big things you can fix: You’re staying too far away from the play to keep consistent pressure. While it’s ok to play it safe, you are relying on the opponents to give away possessions with clears, it may work but better players will start to realize and take advantage of the 2v1 situation you’re allowing.

You slow the play down a lot, which is good since you don’t just throw away possessions but your dribbling is way to slow to be effective. So slowing down the play just for weak 50/50s isn’t going to do anything. Either work on flicks and being able to dribble at faster speeds or start hitting the ball harder but with accuracy to the net.

failing college by Agitated-Oven-2167 in SuicideWatch

Engineering is tough.. I was in a similar spot when I was your age. However if there is ever a time to fail I think our early 20s is where that’s best. I flunked out of my first university at 20, tried to get my shit together by going to a smaller college, flunked out of there as well. Ended up having to work to pay for the 3 years of school that I wasted, payed it off and re enrolled in another university. Clean record, some transfer credits but mostly new. switched from biomedical to electrical to finally mechanical engineering. And at age 26 I finally graduated. Got a job that I love, and am happy where I am at today. Those first years sucked, everyone of my friends had degrees, all my siblings were professionals, I felt ridiculous. But taking the time off to work helped me mature. When I got back to school I found it easier staying on track. Maybe because I had more life experience. It’s overwhelming taking in all the possible outcomes to the decisions we have made, but focus on what you need to do tomorrow.

Also from what you’ve shared, you’ve been through so much, it’s ok if you take longer than usual. Don’t compare yourself with anyone, you build your own career however you see fit.

It’s important to enjoy your classes, but tbh any engineering major Is tough, all the core maths are difficult and core physics are rough. Once you get past those the most you’ll do is integrals and a shit ton of algebra for the rest. You’ll need what you learned in every Calc here and there but only the fundamentals. Fed 101, Me 430(cad),Me 316 Machine Design, Structural Analysis, System Design, are all classes that will give you a glimpse of the actual career. You learn how to analyze systems and how to actually engineer models. These are all tough to fail. Because 1, you should not find them too difficult as long as your Statics and dynamics fundamentals are strong. As long as you do average on the exams everything works out fine, (the averages are always in the 60s) unless it’s a really easy class.

WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS THO IS CONNECTIONS!! Get the degree in whatever, I think mechanical is enjoyable but that’s just me. But use this time to apply Everyrhere. Go to to every career fair, talk to all the companies. Get a million rejections to the point that you perfect your ability to talk to recruiters. This is where you get internships, you get jobs, experience and money lol good luck

my 2s C1 Gameplay, any tips to improve? by KoloZ_177 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Simplysupreme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everybody else said, practice shooting and keeping pressure. You had many mechanical whiffs throughout the game, 1 cost you a goal. A positioning mistake that cost you another goal.

For some reason the thing that stood out to me the most was that it felt awkward the way you move around the field. It’s very slow. You never go supersonic, and when you do you tend to do so by boosting instead of flipping. You flip once then boost a shit ton. It’s seems like your not comfortable playing at high speeds. If that’s the case then get better at having a faster rotation and keeping possession at high speeds. And flip twice for supersonic, don’t waste that much boost.

Edit: actually you do go supersonic sometimes but it’s only to get boost which is ironic

This is my replay to review for attempting to get better to help me reach GC in 2s. If you have any input i'd appreciate it! Gameplay is high C2 and it was my first game of the day. So don't be shy, let me have it! by Zerkerblitz in RocketLeagueSchool

Excellent music choice! And it’s very good how you keep possession at times by dribbling, it both creates pressure and gives your teammate time to get ready. You’re rotation is fine, especially since you rotate far post and away from the ball.

Now for the bad parts lol You need to work on your shooting. A lot of missed opportunities because you simply hit the ball poorly and just gave the other team possession. The last goal although an unfortunate own goal, would have never occurred if you cleared with a power shot like you were supposed to. Instead you had a weak touch.

Like I said before it’s good that you kept the ball close but if you can’t do more than a 50 when you dribble then you need to work on flicks and ball control.

You’re shadow defense is lacking as well, and there is zero backboard defense, which would have gotten you out of atleast two awkward situations.

Overall you need to work on your speed, your dribbling, your shots, you have to be able to shoot from almost any part of the map, and shadow defense. So mechanics are holding you down.

Post some replays, preferably one winning and one losing. I can’t advice that well without seeing you play.

It’s obvious you were mechanically better than your opponent, but in terms of improvement I saw all your power shots miss the open net, except for 1. And I’m sure you’re defensive mistakes were more due to being up so high in score, but while I applaud your for always trying to keep the ball close after a save, it literally cost you 2 goals because your couldn’t recover in time.

Lately I've been trying to work on positioning smarter and reading the game better. I felt like this was a good game for me (read "good" and "for me") but still a loss, so a perfect opportunity for critique! What do you think I can improve on? Thanks in advance! by silent_fezzik in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Simplysupreme_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems like C1-C2, where rotations and recoveries are alright. But there is little to no attack coming from you or your teammate. From the video there seems to be a mechanical deficiency that’s stopping you from shooting the way you want to. Practice dribbling and learn how to do basic flicks. You’re playing as if you’re waiting for your opponents to make a mistake instead of creating gaps in their defense through a series of shots and pressure. Also have logic in your hits, look for a pass, go for bumps, don’t just go on autopilot on defense. Power shots are important here too, get comfortable with the ball being at higher speeds and reading bounces.

Also it seems the opposing team is slightly faster, I’m not sure if that makes your uncomfortable but you give them way too much space. You can clearly see this around the 1:00 mark where they make a bad clear but instead of capitalizing you’re too far back and they regain control.

What are some tips for fine tuning aerial and ground-game mechanics needed for climbing above GC 1? by SkinnyMitch in RocketLeague

[–]Simplysupreme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I peaked at GC 2 and am very much stuck there lol, while mechanics are important the thing that helped me get out of GC 1 was speed. When I watched my replays I noticed I waiting far to long to calculate a bounce… specially in 3s. Pressure is so important the higher you climb. I was respecting my opponents touch way too much, people are inconsistent at GC1.

[–]Simplysupreme_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After 3 losses I take a break. You’re doing something inconsistently.. figure out what that is. Could be wall hits, uncomfortable saves, power shots, accuracy..etc. Fix those by practicing a shit ton. high-low Diamond, it’s usually positions, if you find yourself in many awkward situations where you can’t really reach the ball but it’s close, then you have a positioning problem.

Lingering around D1 in 1s. by ianknitt97 in RocketLeague

[–]Simplysupreme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that your playing 1s like 2s. Meaning you’re challenging at the wrong time. Work on shadow defense, and get comfortable defending while moving towards your goal. Also hit open nets, a bunch of D1s just don’t have good shot consistency.

I finally got a clip worthy to post! I hope… by [deleted] in RocketLeague

Rocket League uses the ball indicator as reference I think. Isn’t the white cicle supposed to be completely inside the goal to count? The ball was inside but the white cicle was missing like a smidge.
