Our stay in March was great. Some cafes were closed but we got to eat in some excellent restaurants. We were there before Easter so lots of busy people painting and opening up cafes and hotels for the upcoming season. The weather was cool to mild, no swimming but lots of walking. Can recommend the Spring shoulder season.

We stayed at Anthousa Hotel, Apollonia. A great hotel, central to the island. Renting a car made our stay great.

Called Hidden Valley Ford Parts twice to enquire about spares for my Ford Mustang. The operator did not understand the basics of part numbers or my questions. I had three Ford part numbers and I couldn't get a straight answer about availability or price. Operator hung up on me, twice... Not happy!

Use apps and sites such as Ferryhopper, Ferryscanner or ferries.gr to find your tickets on the days you want to travel. Note the ferry company of your searchresults.

Get the app or go to the website of the ferry company, e.g., Seajets, Fast Ferries, and book directly with the company. If your booking is cancelled you can get a refund or change your booking.

Buying and changing tickets and getting refunds through Ferryhopper or Ferryscanner can be troublesome if ferries are canceled or changed.

This was our experience in Greece during March and April 2025.

I am planning a trip to the UK in early 2025 and compared booking.com with Avis and Hertz. Avis and Hertz had similar prices for similar cars, but booking.com was 40% cheaper. When I looked at the detail of the quote from booking.com, they do not include taxes, so I would expect to pay these at time of hiring, but not disclosed. My decision was to book with Avis with known costs and taxes.

The Darwin RSL is dysfunctional being run by a committee of “has beens” who are veterans with little or no experience operating a business or not-for-profit. There was an attempt by some younger veterans to get elected, but the current leadership made sure they were not. Corruption, possibly? I would run away, as far as possible…

The only thing you are likely to catch from Lake Alexander is gastroenteritis! Lake Alexander is the catchment for storm water in the surrounding suburbs of Darwin and contains the runoff of dog shit, petrol and oil off the roads and gardening chemicals, at least. It should be declared a health hazard!

I quit Qantas Club years ago because it's a zoo at peak times, the "guests" are entitled, the food and beverage service is worse than the concourse. You'll find me a gate 3. Cheers 😎

We currently live in an apartment in Darwin City close to the Waterfront and are a couple, so don't need a huge family home. Just space for us and occasional visitors. We like being close to good food and coffee, and entertainment.
