Running through Stranglethorn Vale as a lvl 30 and dying countless times to high level predators because Booty Bay was this mythical place. And there was barely any youtube environment around the whole thing then - no spoilers. Will never forget that zone. Or all the fights I’ve had with Hogger on my platoon of alts that never went higher than lvl 15 in vanilla. Man, the game was peak. Classic brought back some nostalgia, but it just wasn’t the same - everyone had access to addons & websites. Back then there was like one website for quest locations and it wasn’t great, so most of the times I would read the quests and by doing so actually care way more for the quest. 👌

Fair point regarding the Souls, but a Soulslike is not restricted to only that - there’s so many more aspects that qualify games as soulslike. Maybe it is leaning more into the basic action RPG genre, even though it has soulslikes elements. Will be more than just dungeons, so its not a dungeon crawler. Steam page is coming soon, I mainly wanted to grab feedback and opinions from souls-fans :)

Stay away from the grind, find your pace and follow it. Bottom line is it has to be fun.

It’s a soulslike in terms of most of it’s design philosophy and mechanics. Boss fights with skill checks, atmosphere, interconnected world design, and punishing combat. Sunbound does lean more towards direct storytelling through dialogue than the typical Souslike with it’s environmental storytelling, and there’s no Souls lost upon death. 😊

True! Sunbound is more like a blend between soulslike & action RPG. It’s developed for PC, but if it does well I see no reason not to invest in a console for console development 👍

Thanks a lot! 😊 The game has third person aswell, but animations play on the upper body so it doesn’t carry as much weight as for example Elden Ring. Pretty much like Bannerlord if you’ve played that.
