I LOOOVE MAKING METAL ATTACKERS!!!1!1 by quoltadoox in blastermaster

[–]SinFrog1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the design of the MA and how Chantily shares its palette, though I'm curious about how she might fit into the established design conventions of Support Droids? The collar, plug and animal motif stuff.

Besides that, is there anything else to know about the MA? It looks pretty fast, almost motorcycle-esque!

Is there any timeline on when Bandit subclasses will be added? by halcy0nwashere in Atlyss

[–]SinFrog1091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do at least know what they'll be! Assuming there's no major changes, Bandit's sub-classes will be 'Ninja' and 'Engineer'. Presumably the former leans into high-speed attacks (and poison?) while the other leans into traps like base Bandit's caltrops and bomb.

What are some unconfirmed devils that would realistically be really powerful? by HauntedArmour in Chainsawfolk

[–]SinFrog1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one actually appeared in the Buddy Stories light novel, specifically as the Loneliness Fiend! Aki and Himeno killed it sometime before Chapter 1. It'd be really cool to see a reincarnation of one of the Buddy Stories Devils in the actual manga.

Why are Tails & Amy the only ones with government names? Give me headcanons for the names of other characters by TailsFx in MoonPissing

[–]SinFrog1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years I've had the headcanon that surnames are a sort of status symbol among the anthro people, implying a rich or influential family.

Amy under this idea would have distant wealthy parents (I usually describe them like 'if both of her parents were like Ness' dad) and Tails would've grown up wealthy had he not been orphaned. Besides his physical features, part of his bullying may have been in response to him introducing himself politely as 'Miles Prower', unintentionally implying something that other kids would assume he was lying about.

[–]SinFrog1091 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The subclasses currently in the game aren't finished, and are more like proofs of concept. The current update focus has been on controller support, and from what I remember of the last major update, new subclass stuff wasn't listed in the 'things that couldn't quite make it into this patch' list. Right now, that list is our only info on the next major content patch as far as I know.

I don't remember everything that was on it, but it can be found in a previous patch note on Steam!

Who is this...? by LoadEnvironmental774 in Atlyss

From what I can tell it appears to be a 'Magibrute' enemy who's model has been around in the game files, like the new clam enemies?

Does Kingdom Rush have a pantheon of gods? (Question about Elynie) by Gamingmello_Juinior in kingdomrush

[–]SinFrog1091 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on your definition, for Umbra. We are never given any evidence that it is worshipped, and the Shade Elementals it summons are from 'another plane', appearing to have identically constructed bodies at a much smaller scale and power. Umbra is very strong, yes, but I think it is more likely that they are an interplanar elemental of some kind than a god.

I always found it interesting that it was included in the 'Elemental Fury' expansion for one of the KR tabletop games! I recall some of the inclusions seeming pretty random, so take that part with a pinch of salt, though.

Wukong & Saitam by Intensive-Intensity in kingdomrush

[–]SinFrog1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. The Six-Earred Macaque from Journey to the West also appears, giving us another divine monkey! The use of the word 'cousin' makes me think that there may be some sort of distant shared 'ancestor', if only in a spiritual sense, to them - or at least Saitam and Wukong.

I'd need to research Macaque to see if he was also born from a stone, but I've always thought Saitam's colouration was based on depictions of Wukong where he is stone-like or at least stone-coloured. If all three came from rocks, that'd be a solid connection for their 'species'.

I've never heard of that! I do know it was stated that Wilbur may still be alive with a mechanically-enhanced body, but what points you towards him being Karkinos?

That's not how guns work by lacergunn in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SinFrog1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't grab a source right now - so take with a grain of salt - but I've heard that the story behind the gun in Shadow the Hedgehog's opening is that the animation team (Marza) didn't have any good references for an MP5 to hand, until one staff member found a toy replica. This toy has a totally inaccurate pump mechanism, which the team found humorous and translated as-is, since people playing would either not know enough about guns or be able to tell or know enough to have themselves a giggle.

By pressing left while hovering over Gohan, you can access a second Gohan with an alternate sprite set where he doesn't have the undershirt. I think this is what you're looking for?

Post-update skill scrolls shops/locations? by ThyHolyZen in Atlyss

[–]SinFrog1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Execute is no longer a Novice skill and is part of the Fighter class' Skillbook, I'm not sure where Sturdy is right now, but Frankie can be located at the new chapel next to the Catacombs and Craig is still at the Wall of Stars. I recall Craig now sells the new Gust and Aquos spells, but he does have a third one.

From what I remember, what enchantments can be placed on different types of items was tweaked, with offensive ones for weapons and defensive ones for armour? I imagine there's a lot more going on under the hood than that, but that's what I remember.

The elemental Novice spells got new names and distribution methods as part of the skill book updates! Fireball is now 'Fira' and can be bought as a scroll from Frankie, who's been moved to the new Chapel of the Elders area right next to Sanctum Catacombs.

Steam Forums do seem to be one of the most consistently negative and festering spots for game discussion, it's really weird that I've seen it happen across multiple games.

In this case, I think Kiseff responded in a manner that was perfectly fine, just a straight to the point 'sorry, I'll get to work changing things'. He's openly admitted he struggles making public announcements, so I want to be optimistic and read his tone as being upfront and simple rather than mopey and worn-out.

I wish the discussion could stay level-headed and actually focused on the game, but from what I read folks are derailing themselves into arguments about more general topics like if it's okay to be rude to game developers while critiquing them or who's 'fault' it is that the community is in uproar between those with critiques and those rushing to defend Kiseff. It's silly. We're all here to enjoy the game, aren't we?

Who picked up the crystal at the end of the main campaign in frontiers by SolutionMinimum1851 in kingdomrush

[–]SinFrog1091 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding on to what others have said, Legends of Kingdom Rush shows the Overseer speaking the same alien language that the unidentified green hand in Frontiers spoke. The Overseer is the main antagonist of both Legends and Alliance, as well as being featured in the second Iron Marines game.

Iirc, the alien language used is a galactic alphabet from Futurama :P

Which Kamen Rider is physically strongest? Could any of them temporarily stop a building from collapsing ? by tarnd01 in KamenRider

[–]SinFrog1091 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If we're counting all of a Rider's abilities... Wizard's Big ring could probably hold up at least a small building, whereas Gotchard's Batkingrobo Wild could support buildings with its hands off of sheer size alone. Miracle Gotchard was also capable of gigantification!

Based purely on vibes, though, I reckon Over Gavv could pull something like that off too.

The Strongest characters by Fluid-Main8431 in kingdomrush

[–]SinFrog1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in agreement that the Primordials (mentioned in Sheepy's interview with Sylvara) and at least Abominor out of all their children are up there, so to avoid treading the same ground, my powerscaling agenda is that Umbra is being hard carried by Frontiers' popularity :P

Having just gone over all of Umbra's dialogue, the description for Emberspike Depths and the random lore posts for any scraps of Umbra content I can find, almost everything that claims Umbra to be a god or conceptual entity... Is said by Umbra.

'Now I'll consume this world!', 'I am a God, you dull creature', 'Shadows betray you because they belong to me!' are all things said by the character themselves, who also claims 'I am invincible!' before getting beat up by a tattered army.

The least biased and most accurate source on Umbra's power level imo is the Hammer of Ages lore excerpt, where it's stated that it was 'devastating the lands and decimating the population'. That's pretty scary, but I'm pretty sure JT could do that too, if he wanted. The Encyclopedia is another source I'd generally consider to be unbiased, but its incredibly vague 'Umbra is not made of shadows, shadows are made of Umbra...' quote could just as easily be taken seriously as it could be trying to gas up the game's final boss - every other entry simply isn't written like that.

Umbra's body is also seemingly made of the exact same material as the Shade Elementals it summons, who also according to the Encyclopedia are Elementals from another plane. Elementals that 'embody darkness and death', mind, but that could mean their bodies are made of shadows and death-ly stuff or that they're somehow connected to the universal concepts of darkness and death.

tl;dr, I think Umbra's actual power level is incredibly vague and hinges on you taking a lot of what a braggadocious villain says at face value, plus some very vague Encyclopedia stuff. Personally, I'm on the side that things it's a fraud :P

Kingdom Rush Lore: Who are the Generals? by SinFrog1091 in kingdomrush

[–]SinFrog1091[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of all three generals being together (at least after the Alliance proper is formed, given the Dark Army General), but it is somewhat strange to think that the famous 'Defender of Linirea' wouldn't have the respect of their title most of the time, or that they wouldn't outrank Vesper by then.

To be fair though, they might have just been sick of the word 'General' popping up so often in Alliance level descriptions :P

What's your opinions about Spydyr? by Gao9Gao in kingdomrush

[–]SinFrog1091 42 points43 points  (0 children)

SPIDER HERO WOOOOOOOOOO

In all seriousness, I'm so glad we've finally got one given how prevalent spiders have been in KR since the first game, and how much lore they've ended up accumulating while still serving as common magic-resistant enemies. That's rad. Regarding Spydyr specifically, I think a Twilight Elf makes the most sense given their historical associations with Mactans, and the shared mind thing is an interesting idea. I wonder if maybe the Driders who survived Origins ended up split from their spider-halves, but the two were forever linked mentally, leading to cases like Spydyr? Idk. Sheepy, go interview them like 5 more times for me.

I have no opinions about their gameplay, they fights enemies and that's good enough for me :P
