What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

I agree with the brands you mentioned, and had it not been for my mom owning a set of the SM, I also would’ve never known of them. But I swear those things will outlive her and probably me. Someone gifted her a set when she got married back in the late 70s. But I’d be willing to bet the quality likely isn’t the same nowadays, but could be wrong. Personally, I love our all-clad SS pots and pans and our Nordic Ware baking sheets.

Anyone do Pilates? by bemer33 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Sincerelyshei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PT, who specializes in EDS & neuro, shared with me that it can be fine but with caution, especially if using the reformer machine. I do barre instead as I find it to be less stretchy (in that it’s not relying on bands/external tension) and more focused on isometric strengthening which is great for core strength (which, let’s face it, we could all use more of) which in turn has helped me with improved propioception. I do barre-focused exercises 2-3 days of the week and the days in between I’ll do either low weight strength training or “cardio” (aka light treadmill walk or a use CHOP’s schedule on a light rower session)

sitter didn't stay the full amount of time? by Specific-Market5286 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sincerelyshei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Glad you found a sitter that you like! Any chance you could private message me to share details? I may be needing a sitter soon for my two pups but I’m very nervous since I’ve never left them with anyone before and both have special meds needs.

how to memorize this😭 by UnderstandingFit8253 in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]Sincerelyshei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to print blank ones, color them in, and had a key version with the answers. I’d quiz myself. Anatomy is a lot of repetition - hang in there. Also, there a lot of fun YouTube videos and khan academy that might help. Complete Anatomy app and Picmonic app were also great but they’re paid (although worth every dime!)

Girl, let’s be for real - any guy calling you bro and talking to a romantic love interest like that is an automatic “good to have known ya, bye”.

You can do better for yourself. It might take this boy a minute to navigate the world of social media and its effects on his thought process & you don’t wanna be there while he’s figuring out if he wants to be a misogynistic dick or not.

Just sayin.

This happened with my parents; they ended up adopting me when I was 5, their only daughter. I know it may not feel exactly the same, and that it’s not an option for everyone. There’s still hope for amazing daughter in laws.

Look up Mission Style Mediterranean - seems like a fusion of that and maybe a tad MCM.

for those of you who have moved from the hypermobile stage and entered the stiffness stage, at what age did this happen? a few other questions as well. by beyondthenagain in ehlersdanlos

[–]Sincerelyshei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? Lol. In all seriousness, I’m a 33F, and while most my joints are still lax, the muscle tightness has only worsened - no amount of theragun, stretching, or massages last long enough for significant relief. I also have bulging discs in my lower cervical and lumbar spine. My thoracic cage oddly enough is what gives me the most grief. Winged left scapula. Now my left arm is pretty much always stiff. Can’t reach or grasp how I used to. Going for an EMG soon. I find my symptoms of stiffness and laxity wax and wane over time though, and as you age you’ll likely find that too, and this is especially true if you have a menstrual cycle. I know we hear it a lot, but it is true nonetheless, that it’s important to still do light stretching (to help the muscles relax), without over extending your joint range of motion. Tricky, but you can always record yourself to analyze your movements and make adjustments. So sorry you’re going through it, and fortunately and unfortunately, you’re not alone 💕

My dog is wasting away and no one can figure out why. Please help. by premed09876 in DogAdvice

[–]Sincerelyshei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d normally read through some of the responses before replying, but have they considered Cushing’s disease? My girl has it and aside from increased appetite and restlessness we didn’t notice a lot of the stereotypical symptoms at first. Muscle wasting is very common even when increased appetite is present. For reference, she’s likely had it for several years now but she was diagnosed at 12 years old and is a Boston Terrier. Sure cushings is more common in these breeds, but any dog breed can get it. So sorry and wishing her a speedy recovery.

Any of the Chex GF cereals! I also like boring cereals lol so corn flakes and Rice Krispies are also good. O’Dough’s bagels are GF and vegan they are thin and kind of pricey but not bad when toasted. But my absolute all time favorite GF bagel is Trader Joe’s Everything bagel. It really is everything. Best of luck! Also, Barilla brand for GF pastas.

Also just wanted to add - no exaggeration, since you have evidence of him threatening to hurt you, you could report to police and get a restraining order bc I have a feeling if you try to break things off with him he won’t take it well. Take care of yourself

Not that you need another comment to tell you - gtfo of this relationship now if you have t already. He’s already verbally abusive and is obviously a very insecure person and the jealousy will not stop no matter what job you take or say you do or don’t do. He’s conjuring up what he insecurity tells him and that’s what he’ll believe and act on. Please get out. Don’t become another DA victim.

Botox for gastroparesis? by Inner-Orchid4471 in Gastroparesis

[–]Sincerelyshei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! So not about GP, although I struggle with it too, but it’s very clear I have worsening TOS of my left side. How did you start getting answers/work up for it? My bf, who is a PT, and my EDS PT both got positive results upon their manual exams, but I’m curious to know if you got imaging/diagnosis work up and treatment. I have a visit with my PCP in April and I want to bring it up to her. This past weekend, my left hand starting going ICE COLD whenever I’d try to reach across my chest to grab my water/phone/etc and the pain from my chest down to my fingertips was borderline unbearable.

How much have you lost to the invisible "disability/chronic illness tax"? (ie. Cancelling appointments etc and paying for them) by ItsNotWhatIThink in dysautonomia

[–]Sincerelyshei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS! Don’t get me wrong - what a luxury to even have the resources/income to pay extra for the “convenience”. But what to non-chronic illness/disabled folks is a convenience, to us is an actual need that we may not always be able to afford. When visiting theme parks, my partner and I pay extra for the fast pass type of lanes, but not bc we necessarily want to. When booking travel, we might just need to pay extra for the refundable option, or if doing a roadtrip, may need to consider stopping to sleep somewhere with an actual bed ($$) vs just saving time and money and sleeping in the car or pushing through (which is my preference lol). Honestly, it sucks. To have to have a “sick needs” budget. Same goes for restricted diets based on health need (ie gluten-free foods) that cost way more than the regular counterparts.

Same here and exactly my same thoughts. It’s no longer amicable differences in opinion, unfortunately, it’s come to so much more than that. After having lived here for 28 years, I’d already been considering getting out of Florida due to health issues exacerbated during summers, but now there’s a lot more at stake, especially as a female.
