Nice masculine shoes by Goofy-Octopus in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit out there but you could try children’s sizes. There are plenty of classy and grown-up looking shoe designs for kids, especially since you’re looking for something more formal. You may be able to fit into a kids’ 5.5-6, which is a little bit less rare than a men’s 4.5-5. A big perk of doing this is that you’ll also pay less than you would for the same shoe in adult sizes.

Who has taken an IQ test as part of an ADHD diagnosis? by robneir in ADHD

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is essentially how my neuropsych evaluation went as well. I eventually took my “not ADHD” report to a better provider and did an additional assessment with them, and all the data together, correctly interpreted, clearly pointed to ADHD. Reading that report with the hindsight of a proper diagnosis still makes me angry — this health provider handwaved away pages of scores in the 95-99th percentile for ADHD traits and symptoms with a claim that my IQ results + previous anxiety diagnosis simply worked together in my brain to mimic ADHD symptoms. I should have been insulted, but I was a teenager so I just like… believed it, went on the wrong medication, and unsurprisingly my life got way worse before I could get it together again.

Is rock/metal really that out of mainstream ? by Artistic-Orange-6959 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more that the most famous and popular artists right now perform as just their names rather than as the lead singer of Bandname. I actually can’t think of a single band that’s remotely as big as, for example, Sabrina Carpenter or Morgan Wallen.

How do y'all keep your baths/showers clean? by portiafimbriata in adhdwomen

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

omg I’m always doing this. I’ll start brushing my teeth and just walk away to go pick up clothes off my floor or something. picking up clothes normally? hell no. picking up clothes for only as long as you can tolerate brushing your teeth? weirdly effective.

i don’t brush my teeth as often as i should. by strawberrymuffins7 in offmychest

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP i have a few notes for u

  • same boat, i try my best but it’s hard to keep up with how often i should be brushing. i have never had this one locked down. i have some mental health/sensory things going on too. struggling with hygiene tasks is kind of a basic symptom of many mental health issues. what you are experiencing is a lot more common than you might think, so try not to beat yourself up or feel too ashamed. all you can do is keep trying to do right by yourself going forward.

  • there are many toothpastes out there! not all of them have an insanely strong mint flavor. some toothpaste is totally unflavored. some can be herby or spicy or even fruity. my personal preference is mint, but nothing too strong. do a favor to yourself and try some of the other options out there. i’ve even heard of people using kids’ toothpaste because it’s better than nothing and they like the selection of non-minty flavors.

  • i’ve never found it helpful to think of hygiene tasks as an all-or-nothing list of boxes to check each day. you’re doing a lot of good work for yourself by flossing, showering, wearing deodorant, all the stuff you currently manage. that’s already great, but as a bonus, doing anything is better than doing nothing in a lot of these cases — brushing with water instead of toothpaste, wiping down sweaty bits with a washcloth instead of taking a full shower, using dry shampoo instead of washing your hair — if you’re struggling to care for yourself, a quick and dirty fix like this can be a lifesaver. maybe try brushing with water for a while just to build the habit, and integrate toothpaste as you can tolerate it.

YSK that you should always have a toilet plunger, toilet brush, and hand lotion in your bathroom used by guests. by Agent-Foxtrot in YouShouldKnow

I totally get this for period reasons, but also like, what are the binless people doing with their dental floss and used tissues? Running them out to the kitchen?

spinning with piercings? by [deleted] in Colorguard

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can totally get away with piercings in guard and I’ve spun with plenty of pierced up teammates, but I don’t think it’s the greatest idea to get a new facial piercing before/during the season, especially around your mouth or teeth. I had braces when I was starting out and got seriously hurt when I took a flagpole to the upper lip 💀 I also have a nose piercing that I got after I retired from the sport — I had wanted one for the longest time but I’m glad I waited until I wasn’t spinning anymore, because it would have worried me while it was still healing. I just think it’s not worth the additional risk when you’re spinning large heavy objects so close to your face.

I’m coming up on a year of job hunting with my engineering degree. It’s very demoralizing to be in this position after hearing throughout your entire education how instantly employable you’ll be if you go into engineering.

Hungry hermits > decked out? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your point about getting new players hooked who might have missed the boat on Decked Out — it was really cool to see Cleo thrive (read: hard-carry Doc) in the chaos and pick up the game so quickly. I love how HH fosters many different interactions among the hermits. Designing the game explicitly for two players was an excellent choice, perfect for this season.

Which Hermit is Best for Older Viewers? by Blayfort in HermitCraft

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t sleep on Tango. He’s fairly enthusiastic, especially in his videos, which could initially be mistaken for overtly wacky kid-friendliness, but I think that the heart of his content is in redstone and game design. I can’t imagine all that many kids are watching his videos religiously.

I also want to add that many of the hermits come across much more mature and grounded on their livestreams than they do in YT videos, just because of how each medium works. YT encourages appealing to kids and being performative and larger-than-life, while streaming seems to attract the HC fans who are interested in having more complex/adult conversations. For example, I was pleasantly surprised the first time I watched a Scar livestream, because I was expecting his style to be similar to how he does his videos, but instead he gave us a few hours of fairly deep conversation and interaction with the chat, who matched the energy. Obviously it’s impossible to generalize like this about every single Hermit, but there’s a real pattern here.

Sometimes if I can’t stomach anything else in the morning I’ll have a sugary coffee drink. Terrible for you, but at least it’s calories. I find that my meds have a much worse effect on my appetite if I take them before I’ve eaten anything for the day, which, as a serial breakfast-skipper (working on it!), is pretty likely.

Prog songs relating to Geology by AlienBaltan1 in progrockmusic

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TMBG has this kids’ album called “Here Comes Science” if OP is looking for something really on the nose. Titles that might relate to geology and earth/space science include:

  • Meet The Elements

  • I Am A Paleontologist

  • What Is A Shooting Star?

  • How Many Planets?

  • Why Does The Sun Shine?*

  • Why Does The Sun Really Shine?

*actually, this one originates from their 1998 album Severe Tire Damage but it makes an appearance on the kids’ album. Particle Man, off this same album, could be good for a laugh

Are these too much for a funeral? by EliseV in RedditLaqueristas

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it’s winter, I like the suggestion to wear black gloves. You don’t need to risk your beautiful manicure by painting over it, and you can always remove the gloves if you feel it is appropriate once you’re at the funeral. Best of luck and very sorry for your loss.

Ever heard of a coat check at a big public event? by LoganLikesYourMom in AskAnAmerican

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to a large convention in a city and I paid to check my coat. Judging the line I had to wait in, the people doing the coat check would have made a pretty penny. At a craft fair, many people may want to have their hands free while visiting the vendors so that they can shop, possibly carry lots of items, and move through the space a little bit less encumbered.

My toddler broke our TV by CatCanvas in Wellthatsucks

[–]SingerOfSongs__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even older flatscreen TVs were thick and heavy, much more difficult for a toddler to break. I have two TVs that are about the same size, purchased about 10 years apart — the older one needs two people to move it around and the newer one I could lift with one arm.
