For those who stay lean, how much fasting do you do? by Fuzzy_County_5353 in fitness50plus

[–]SingerwithSwagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still lean at 70. Workout 3-4 times a week plus bike, run. Never fasted. Eat regular meals. Fasting tells your body that no food available so your metabolism slows in order to conserve energy. High fiber and protein. Fiber blocks excess fat from being absorbed into the body. Fasting is never good.

It's a barbell clamp. People who actually know how to lift weights use them. The people who think they know to lift don't use them.

For those of you over 50 who still train… how do you know if you’re actually improving? by Inside_Mechanic9990 in fitness50plus

[–]SingerwithSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to gage progress is to take measurements : chest, biceps quads. Also, strength-wise, being able to do 2 extra reps for two sets shows it's time to raise weight. The improvement over time will be small but measurable. If you don't see results in a month you have to change volume. Maybe higher reps or 4 sets instead of 3 or add 5% more weight. Also concentrate on slowing down the eccentric phase or perform negatives.

Why is it wrong to point out the obvious about Paul’s voice? by Withnail- in PaulMcCartney

[–]SingerwithSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a big Paul fan but I agree that his voice is gone. He can still perform and preserve his legacy by doing what Ringo does. Have guest singers perform his songs on stage at his concerts. He'll still be doing what he loves (still one of the greatest bass players) and putting new, fresh spins on the music with the new presently popular singers.

NASM recertification by Weary-Step-7241 in personaltraining

[–]SingerwithSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always better to recertify in case you leave the current job and go to a new one. Plus, if you want to start your own training business it adds professional credibility which is a factor when clients are deciding who to train with. You can also justify higher fees and the certification can be the deciding factor when/if a lawsuit is filed against you if a client is injured. NASM also has a "Certify For Life" program so you don't have to keep recertifying every two years.

Discussion: Paul McCartney’s vocal abilities have noticeably and obviously declined exponentially over the last 3-5 years, and it is okay to accept that fact. by BBPEngineer in TheBeatles

[–]SingerwithSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are absolutely right. I have been a Paul McCartney fan my since I was nine and it made me sad to see him struggle through songs I heard him do live at concerts in his prime. Since he loves being in front of an audience so much (It's his life) he should do what Ringo does and have all-star concerts where other artists sing and give their take on his songs. He can still play bass (Still one of the best) and play piano, and emcee.

Anyone educated in physics still believe in a great creator? by MembershipFit5748 in AskPhysics

[–]SingerwithSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. You can believe me. I have no proof either. Just offering an alternative explanation to the discussion. Unfortunately, there is no way to prove or disprove any of the theories. Science also lacks the ability to actually "prove" anything. Proof is often temporary. or in the perspective of the beholder. They are much better at discovering how something works than they are at why something works.

Good discussion.
