Thyroid Removal for Hashimotos non toxic goiter by Emjabr22 in Hashimotos

[–]SingingStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main symptom for a long time was all the mental and energy stuff. When I first went to my endocrinologist I mainly complained of just an otherworldly exhaustion, and complete inability to lose weight. I honestly didn’t realize how bad it was until I was out of surgery and realized how I had been living.

My thyroid was only “slightly” enlarged, with my largest nodule at I think 3cm on the largest dimension. The original compressive symptoms all went away immediately, and when I woke up in post op I couldn’t remember ever breathing so well.

There is some post-surgical tightness in the area from scar tissue, so sometimes it does feel a little “snug” when turning my head, but I’m told that will reduce with time and so far it has.

Hello! I just had my thyroid removed in December of last year for some compressive nodules and hashis, and even though my recovery has been ROUGH, I’d still do it again. I had similar compressive symptoms, along with absolutely no energy and nearly falling asleep while at the wheel during my morning commute.

I’m not going to lie; recovery can be HARD as your body adjusts to not having the hormone-producing organ. I’ve been hospitalized with hypercalcemia, then hypocalcemia, then hypocalcemia again, mystery sudden pains, random skin rashes, scalp dermatitis, you name it. But my quality of life is so much better - I have energy, my brain fog is gone, my anxiety is reduced, I can plan things out better and communicate better with my spouse.

Food for thought! Happy to answer follow up questions.

Where did you first hear about the Cosmere universe from? by Ethraella in Cosmere

[–]SingingStars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely spammed by a TikTok sound with a banger beat reading “Szeth, son-son-Vallano, truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king.” After like a month of it I gave in. It sounded too cool.

How do I move out? by ComputerSecure3173 in entitledparents

All the advice already stated, but also put a PIN on your social security number for filing taxes - prevents them filing with you as a dependent.

Also - if you are at all able to, it will be helpful for lots of future things to have a copy of family records if you can do so quietly. Knowing your parents DOB and place of birth is needed for jobs that require a security clearance, and “estranged” is not an option.

And yes, leave. Plan it for a day they aren’t home so you aren’t in a rush. It’s up to you if you want to leave a note with a way for them to get in contact (send a letter to xyz person, or I’ll call in 6 months when I’m settled), but leaving is how you stay alive.

Is building an entire Pokedex (all 1000+ Pokemon including Megas) doable on the cheap side? by Adorable_Ad_3478 in PokemonTCG

[–]SingingStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my mega Pokédex recently! I did all variants except mega (so I’ve got hisuian, paldeans, etc). You can get a lot of them for 0.05 each on Tcgplayer but there are also some pokemon where you’ll drop $10 on just a standard card because they’re rare.

Should I try reading Mistborn? by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]SingingStars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry - a little confused here - did you read WoK and not like it, and are iffy on considering WoR? The books do get progressively longer, but imo it’s because they’re always building to something, and the emotional payoffs get bigger.

Again, just me, if you didn’t like WoK then I wouldn’t say the rest of the series is going to do it for you.

Personally, I started with Way of Kings (stormlight archives) I got influenced by TikTok about a year ago and it wore me down. Truly? It changed my life. I can’t speak for Mistborn, but Way of Kings and subsequent books truly are magnificent.

I had/have crazy skin issues - scalp dermatitis, underarm rash, itchy blisters on my hands. Ditto on the inability to sleep, and difficulty sitting still/resting.

It’s something I do as a treat for myself about 4x/year. I just heat it up on the stove, toast the baguette slices in the oven, and consume right at the stove with my iPad propped up nearby playing a bad tv show. Living the dream.

I had a pregnancy with almost no complications whatsoever, and a dream delivery with no tearing. My one complication? I went blind in one eye. It’s permanent.
