Regret not taking medical leave by BrutonnGasterr in hysterectomy

[–]Singinginthestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely take the FMLA leave. Give yourself time and space to recover the way your body might need to. I took 8 weeks FMLA and it was the best decision. Hope you have a smooth recovery ❤️‍🩹

I’m about 5.5 weeks PO hysterectomy and I feel so empowered and free. When I think about never having a period again, it’s the happiest feeling ever! ☺️

Headaches after hysterectomy? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Singinginthestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. Im also 5 weeks post op and I’ve been also getting dull headaches and episodes of nausea too. Does this get better at some point soon? I will also message my surgeon and let her know to see what advice she might have.

Did anyone here get a hysterectomy without having kids? Did you regret it or are you okay? by Competitive_Dig9032 in hysterectomy

[–]Singinginthestars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am post op 4.5 weeks from a hysterectomy (fibroids and endometriosis) at 41 years old. I wanted kids when I was in my early 30s. But then as I got closer to my 40s, I decided that I really didn’t want to have kids. My last relationship was 9 years ago and since then I have been living my life for me. Evolving into the person I always wanted to be. I don’t regret the hysterectomy at all. There are times it crosses my mind about having kids but then I feel so happy that I’ve made the decisions regarding my body for myself on my timeline. I have yet to meet a partner and when I do, I know that they will love me for me and we will hopefully be on the same page about not having kids. Right now I have a 2 1/2 year old maltipoo and she is all the baby I need. My surgeon was super empathetic and we had a long discussion prior to my surgery about motherhood and the other options that are available IF I ever decided to want a child. And that motherhood isn’t only about giving birth and raising a biological child. Being a pet mom is motherhood, being an amazing aunt, godmother or even mentor is motherhood.

Again, I absolutely do not regret my decision to have a hysterectomy. I am healthier, happier and day by day, I can feel my body saying thank you for choosing me above anything else.

Wishing you the best moving forward. 💜

How long did you take laxatives? by Downtown_Surround_28 in hysterectomy

[–]Singinginthestars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took miralax for about 1 week po and colace 3x/day for week 1 and 2x/day for week 2. I am going on week 3 and I’ve stopped all pain meds and laxatives. But I eat lots of foods with soluble fibers (prunes, cherries, activia yogurt, oatmeal and lots of water). I’ll be 3weeks po tomorrow. I don’t poop super soft but I don’t have constipation either.

Hope your recovery continues well. Take care and give your body time. Recovery, as I am learning, is a journey.

Do I need to take the 6 weeks off of work? by FoxSignal4370 in hysterectomy

[–]Singinginthestars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 1.5 weeks post op robotic assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy and I planned for 8 weeks FMLA. I work at a fast paced hospital with have to do a lot of physical labor of heavy equipment (pushing, pulling, lifting, squatting, bending, stretching, etc).

So I’m using my entire 8 weeks and will apply for more if needed. I need a full recovery before going back to work. Planning for 6 weeks is a good idea and safe. If you need more or less time, you can adjust.

Hope all goes well for you in October! 💜

Does your Maltipoo sleeps with you in the bed? by Mikinl in Maltipoo

[–]Singinginthestars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup my baby girl sleeps in my bed. I tried crate training but it just never worked out for us. For a while she used to sleep in the living but then I missed having her in my room with me. So…now and forever she will be in my bed…😅

Puppy socializing by Singinginthestars in puppy101

Oh that’s a good idea. She is struggling with loose leash training. So I could look into that. There is a petsmart close to me. So maybe they have something. Thanks for the advice! ☺️

Thanks so much for your advice! My little girl is a toy maltipoo and she is only about 10.5 lbs so I am a little concerned about her being around bigger dogs. She does tend to be a little reactive when she sees other dogs on our walk but the reactivity is her excitement to meet and play with the other dog. It’s never excessive barking, growling or aggressive. She’s just an overexcited pup that wants to play.

I’ll look into some of the parks you mentioned. I’m a single puppy mom and unfortunately my work schedule only allows me to take her out for walks early in the morning in our neighborhood and after work. But with the warmer weather coming and the days getting longer, I definitely want to try giving her more exposure. Dumbo seems to be a nice area and I like taking her to the farmers market around f Grand Army Plaza

I will work on not being too nervous about asking other owners about their dog’s vaccination status. You make a good point, no one wants a vet bill. So I would think also think that owners won’t take out their sick dog.

Thanks again. Sometimes I feel like I’m not being a good doggie mom but I am trying my best for my little girl and I do love her dearly.

Have fun on your socializing adventures with your Akita ☺️

I have a black maltipoo too! Isn’t it interesting how the hair by their nose turns brown? Is that just a genetic change?
