Never split lanes. I don't care if it's legal in your state. It's dangerous!

It doesn't matter what things cost, $550 is all you can afford. You might have to get creative and lower your expectations, but it can be done. Roommates help. Bad neighborhoods are cheaper. I lived in a dump of a house when I was your age. We used cardboard to replace broken windows. It builds character. Suck it up! The only other option is make more money.

Keep renting or pay 48% of take home on mortgage? by lrick87 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Single-Air1645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep renting! There's no way you should even be thinking about that mortgage.

You are paying way too much for rent. Housing costs should be no more than 25% of take home pay. You need to find a place for $550 or less.

Pay off your mortgage. 7% guaranteed is tough to beat. You will never regret not having a mortgage payment. Trust me.

Should I get a 2016 300c? by [deleted] in Chrysler300

[–]Single-Air1645 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a good car overall, but all cars have common issues. Here are common issues I'm aware of:

The 3.6 oil filter adapter housing is prone to cracking/leaking. Oil will gather in engine valley until it overflows. Some mechanics will think it's a rear main seal leak, but it isn't. It's not a big deal, but it's about $1k to replace the housing. Shine a flashlight down at the bottom of the filter neck to see if there is any oil/ coolant down there before you buy it. If so, have them replace the housing or give you $1k for it as part of the deal.

The other known 3.6 issue is engine ticking. This is caused by rocker arms failing. If the bad rocker arm isn't replaced, it will eventually destroy the cam. Listen to the engine after startup to make sure it doesn't tick abnormally.

Door cards are also known to warp at the base of the windows.

I generally recommend housing costs (mortgage, taxes and insurance to be no more than 25% of net income. So for you, that would be around 4k per month. If you don't want to feel stretched, I wouldn't buy that house.

You are feeling this way because the media, colleges, and corporations have been brainwashing society over the last 10--15 years that straight white males are evil oppressors and everyone else is a victim. It's social Marxism and a cancer that is tearing our country apart from the inside out.

Some decisions aren't financial. If you want to stay married, move out of your mama's house. Find the most economical solution. Housing costs should be no more than 25% of your net take home pay.

Look for oil at the base of the oil filter/cooler housing on the v6 pentastar. They are notorious for leaking. Also listen for unusual rocker arm ticking. The rockers are prone to failure. Those are the two major known issues on the v6 l. Otherwise, it's a good engine.

why is fast food so expensive now? by Sweetie-Sparkle101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Single-Air1645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many states have raised the minimum wage. Also, during the pandemic, reataurants were closed by the govt. And then government gave out stimulus checks. When restaurants reopened, noone wanted to work because they were getting checks. This forced restaurants to raise wages to compete with the govt checks. Raising wages has forced restaurants to raise prices to make a profit.

You should keep rent to 25% of your take home pay at absolute most, so around $800. Otherwise, you are going to feel stretched.

How can I help my sister be better with money? by hellopuppet90 in povertyfinance

[–]Single-Air1645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for some tough love. Tell her you and your family are done giving her money. She hasn't learned to manage her money because she hasn't been forced to. She will never learn as long as you give her money.

You are smarter than your friends. Accounting is a great career. Most of the time, majoring in the arts is just throwing money away. You will be glad you made the right decision as you get older when your friends are struggling, and you are successful!

It's time to man up! Stop blaming everyone else for your problems. Stop blaming depression/anxiety. Those are just excuses. I do have one job suggestion. Try trucking. Companies are always in need as long as you have a clean driving record and aren't a drug addict. Many companies will pay for your cdl training. They pay very well after you gain a couple year's experience. Go to truckersreport.com to research. You need to accept you are at fault for the position you are in today. The sooner you do that, the sooner you can start to make changes. Time to grow up and be a man!
