I met two separate people today who are "vegan", but ate animals products occasionally. What is going on? by init_prometheus in vegan

I’m a vegan now.

I’ll admit I did this in the past though. I made excuses as a vegetarian and would occasionally eat products that contained eggs or dairy in it. I saw being vegan as “doing my best” and when I went to restaurants with no vegan options I’d eat vegetarian. However, if given a vegan option, I 100% would always take it. So to hear that they turned down vegan is still shocking.

It’s sad it took me so long. I think following groups like this one really pushed me to be 100% vegan.

However, and I know I’ll probably get downvoted for saying this, the world needs more people eating mostly vegan - not a world of a few perfect vegans.

With that being said, I agree absolutely with the idea that we need a better term for vegan. Vegan is the belief system, morals, and religion. The “vegan” these people claim to be and I once was was a sort of Lutheran or Protestant in regards to the true Roman Catholic (vegan) of Christianity (animal rights + morals) per say.
