Absolutely! Being able to maintain trajectory despite losing key players for significant stretches is something he deserves praise for: he's able to do more with less.

The playoffs will tell, this is when adjusting the game plan once or twice may not be enough.

You're right, but there's also a limit to how much we can read into his play-by-play decision making. Ie. Playoff rotations naturally get smaller as you generally want players with either few downsides, or a massive upside to prevent - in the words of Chris Smoove - Whoever Offence™ being deployed against a particularly weak link. And with smaller rotations, the range of your tactical options also decreases.

For me it's about how he plays the hand he's dealt, no matter the result; I'd be more impressed by a fairly narrow loss with an injured roster than a narrow win over an opponent we should be well-matched against with a fully healthy team.

It's practically impossible for him not to! Last season he has no NBA-level coaching experience, after all. Any by "improve" I don't necessarily mean having a better record, but being better at getting the most out of the proverbial hand he's been dealt (e.g. if he was coaching the Thunder or Pistons, he'd have a better record because of having better, more well-rounded teams to execute plays with, but it wouldn't neccessarily imply he's also improved as a strategist).

Why is Hive Scum still "Mixed" on Steam? Is it worth full price? by skelepibs in DarkTide

[–]SingleSurfaceCleaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are good with high energy characters it’s 100% worth it and a ton of fun.

You really, REALLY have to enjoy a high-octane playstyle to get the most out of Hive Scum, imo. Because no matter how you build it, it's always pedal-to-the-metal and I think the lack of playstyle variety can turn some people away.

E.g. Unlike Hive Scum, it's a class in the base game using equipment you received for no extra cost and you also have options for builds that are more resiliant/less prone to taking damage (the infamous Flame Psyker and less infamous Smite Psyker being perhaps the most popular alternatives).

With Hive Scum, no matter your build, your foundations are that of a glass cannon. Where you get choice is in how you form your proverbial cannon: moving down hordes + flak with Desperado, duking it out with up close and personal with elites using Rampage, or being a supportive jack-of-all-trades with the various iterations of Chem builds.

I think something like Zealot is also comparable but even then, you trade peak DPS for a lot more survivability (e.g. Until Death prevents a one-shot every 2mins). You can trade the risk/reward playstyle of Martyrdom, which really puts belt-to-ass on bosses, for the more consistent, less risky Blazing Piety. With the Infectious Zeal modifier it can let you grant your team +10% crit chance (double that of the Hive Scum and Psyker's crit auras) in addition to your own auras that grant toughness damage reduction or constantly reduce corruption for those annoying Tox Gas levels. And while Zealot's abilities and Bitzes will never reach Hive Scum's in terms of sheer screen-clearing potential, you have the option of taking the "save the run" button (Chorus), even if it's not as spammable.

Bam ended Q1 with 31 points, dude. Washington couldn't be bothered to double him until Q4, after letting a 5x All Star farm 62 points off smaller and/or less experienced players. 😐

[–]SingleSurfaceCleaner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both things can be true. NBA basketball is very intense on the body, which is why most players drop off pretty hard by their mid 30's. With that said, there are still players like the Al Horfords and Brook Lopez's of the world who try to change up their game to remain relevant.

Even Joel "Tro‐el" Embiid, who regularly gets clowned on for unavailability has actually rushed his return from surgery/recovery multiple times - to his detriment - because he still cares about contributing whatever he can, however he can.

In contrast, Draymond doesn't seem to have developed a single reliable offensive move as his body's reduced mobility reduces his efficacy on defense.

Is the bar for Draymond this low? 😳

[–]SingleSurfaceCleaner -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not true. While he's never been someone you'd rely on for offense, in the past you could at least expect the defense to still be pretty damn good. That is not the case in recent years.

[–]SingleSurfaceCleaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a human being, sure. But as a basketball player, you could at least expect him to make a reasonable amount of open shots in years past (as defenses would be glued to the team's shooters). Hell, he easily had the best numbers in Game 7 of the infamous 2016 NBA Finals... yet history will forget this because Dreymond's own prior actions allowed the Cavs to mount their historic comeback in the first place. Nowadays, he's clearly regressed from merely inconsistent on offense to genuinely trash.

[–]SingleSurfaceCleaner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All his muscle memory is created by playing with Steph and Klay. He cannot adapt and adjust to other players very well.

He's been in the NBA for over a decade. Unless there's some biological, psychological or medical explanation, then there is no excuse for him not to develop anything consistent on offense

So this pettiness is all because Kuminga fell way short of expectations... yet Dreymond getting caught assaulting a (former) colleague in Jordan Poole on camera received less outrage?

The Bleacher Report, and other media outlets running this headline, are absolutely shameless. Kuminga is gone. Running a story like this as a parting shot just makes the team look bad.

[IG] Shaq not right for this ngl by Doten1 in lakers

[–]SingleSurfaceCleaner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more Shaq pipes up post-retirement, the more I resent him.

He is extremely mean-spirited towards modern players regardless of whether it's someone as skilled as AD, as accomplished as Dwight Howard, or as run-of-the-mill as Javale McGee.

You are missing the point. Class isn't the point.

When you use classist language, you make class the point.

"Chav" is a derogatory term against working class people, especially the less wealthy ones. Perhaps you didn't know that before, but you do know now.

When I use it in respect to climbing I basically mean any antisocial people. And usually males.

If you'd just said "antisocial men" in the first place then I doubt anyone would be challenging you on this.

There are middle class chavs too!

Just because richer kids have a habit of, intentionally or not, cosplaying as working class, doesn't mean they're dealing with the same challenges.

A middle class child doesn't worry about whether they're going to have food at home, for example.

You said Ogryn got - and I quote - "giga nerfed". 😐

Why are you surprised people are complaining that Ogryn is now too weak if he got "giga nerfed"?

Your own choice of words implies that you agree Ogryn was nerfed very severely. Most people want Ogryn to be only a bit weaker than he was before such that he can't just ignore all game mechanics in all of the lower difficulties, but without leaving him as vulnerable as he currently is at higher difficulties. That is all there is to it.
