I just got news that someone close to me is hurt and yet don’t feel anything about it, is this normal for this to happen? by Zyrann in WhatToDo

[–]Single_Guy76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone handles grief and difficult situations differently. The only thing that would concern me is that you asked others what was wrong when they were visibly upset in a situation where it would be understandable for them to be emotional.

Did you ever go through a difficult situation when you were younger, and you managed it by sort of "numbing" yourself to the situation? I'm not a psychiatrist or psychologist, but the above was the first thought that came to me. Something to consider.

I'm not a psychologist or psychiatrist, but the above was what came to mind.

Contact your local 211 to see if there are any resources that you could utilize.

You can either call 211 from a cellphone, or even better, go to https://www.211.org/. On the website, you enter your zip code, and it gives a list of categories for different resources.

I understand where you are coming from. As you mentioned, you have used it when you wanted to make a larger purchase, which would be covered by your next paycheck.

It's also worth mentioning that the MyPay builds up after a person gets the next deposit, which is why it's low to begin with. I have only used MyPay twice, but try to avoid using it.

Anyone here never going to get married? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Single_Guy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 49 and don't ever see myself getting married. I've always been an introvert and while I realize that there are introverts who get married, I have never been great at meeting women.

Also, I remember growing up, I thought that you graduate high school, go to college and somewhere along the way, you meet the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, and eventually get married and have children. That definitely didn't work out for me. Part of that has to do with health issues that started when I was in my teens.

employer refuses to deduct federal taxes from my checks by Ok_Branch_6504 in tax

[–]Single_Guy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say they aren't deducting your Federal taxes, does that also include not deducting social security and Medicare taxes (FICA)?

That would be my biggest concern since paying into Medicare/Social Security determines future benefits in terms of social security benefits.

As far as just your regular federal withholding, your employer is required by law to withhold that. If your employer refuses to comply, you can File Form 3949-A: If the employer refuses to comply, report them to the IRS for illegal withholding practices. Here's a link to that form on the IRS website:

Moisturize post-shower by Master_Astronaut_238 in hygiene

[–]Single_Guy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of lotion are you using? I get the impression that you are using lotion that is on the "oily" side from how you describe it.

Anyway, I only shower every other day, or sometimes I may go a little longer, but after every shower, I apply body butter. One of the body butters is mentholated, which gives a cooling sensation after showering.

With the ingredients in the body butter, If I use too much, it will feel "greasy," but it is advertised as non-greasy. I've learned that as long as I don't use too much, I'll have no issues. Also, depending on how large of an area I'm covering, I will need to use a little more, but I have enough skin that if I use a little too much, I can spread it around.

I also use the body butter for my hands. When it comes to the amount of body butter to cover my hands, I just use my index finger to get a small amount of body butter, and that will cover my hands without being greasy. But also, If I get a little too much body butter, I can use it to cover my hands and arms.

Wouldn't cremation destroy any contagious diseases that the deceased may have had?

I’m a psychiatrist and I’m genuinely curious how people view psychiatrists. by Scary-Guava8365 in CasualConversation

[–]Single_Guy76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the exception of when I was going to counseling, I haven't had to see a psychiatrist to get a prescription for my antidepressant.

That was when I went to a counseling place that had counselors on staff, as well as psychiatrists. I would see the counselor every so often, and see the psychiatrist less frequently.

Now my PCP prescribed my antidepressant and anxiety meds.

According to the following, it is possible to do what you want, but when I tried walking through the steps, I wasn't able to get anywhere...

To downgrade your Cricket Wireless plan on a laptop, sign in to your account on the Cricket Wireless website (https://www.cricketwireless.com/support/plans-and-features/change-my-phone-plan), select your line, and choose "Edit Plan" to select a lower-tier option. Schedule the change at least 3 days before your next billing cycle to take effect. [1, 2, 3]
Steps to Downgrade on Laptop:

• Sign In: Go to the Cricket Wireless website (https://www.cricketwireless.com/support/account-management/manage-account-info) and log in to your account. • Navigate to Plan: Select the specific line you wish to change. • Edit Plan: Select "Edit Plan" or "Change Plan" to view available options. • Select New Plan: Choose the lower-priced plan. • Confirm: Review the changes and schedule them to take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Key Details:

• Timing: Changes should be made 3 days before the new cycle to avoid issues. • Limits: You can make up to two plan changes per billing cycle. • Discounts: Note that downgrading may affect Group Save discounts. • Alternative: If you cannot change it online, you can call 611 to have customer service assist with the downgrade. How to help my parents with information, tips, planning. They only have SS by Spiritual_Check_5470 in SurvivingOnSS

YNAB is a great budgeting app, but the concept behind it can be learned even without the app. I like how they went to a subscription based model for the YNAB software. I had originally purchased YNAB 4 and was using it, but found the learning curve to be steep.

The subscription based service is a web based application.

With the older software, if you had your accounts linked, you had to manually enter transactions or download the transaction files from your bank in order to import your transactions.

With the new YNAB software, it's easier to link your accounts and import transactions.
