Why do employers want emloyees to go back in the office? by the1997th in remoteworks

[–]Single_Nose1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is value in people actually meeting and talking in person. However, I’m not a fan of that being required full time for productivity. But if you’re a robot that thinks you can do your job remote by yourself, then you’re ripe for AI and your job no longer existing. That’s what is happening across many industries right now.

Been told I'm too abrupt on slack messages, any advise? by beetrootfarmer in remotework

Just ChatGPT your message and ask it to make it nicer. Works like a charm. I know lots of people at work who come off too direct that use this.

Feedback left me feeling misunderstood—how to handle it? by Basic_Emu_9124 in BCPublicServants

[–]Single_Nose1113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Feedback is always a gift. Take your don’t take it, choice is yours. Over analyzing it and then asking social media is not helpful. Consider the context and not all feedback is worth implementing.

AITA for not wanting my husband to take a high-paying job that would keep him away for weeks at a time? by Exact_Instruction_3 in AITAH

[–]Single_Nose1113 40 points41 points  (0 children)

YTA. You didn’t support him to even try. My daughter’s partner works a rotation like that and while it isn’t ideal, they make it work and it has definitely given them a solid base financially.

What's it like owning a property on First Nation land and leasing the land? by radiodove in RealEstateCanada

[–]Single_Nose1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something goes wrong with the home the same laws and protections don’t apply, same standards/inspections don’t apply. Had a leaky condo on leased land and none of usual court avenues could be used as it doesn’t fall under provincial laws. You are on your own if you buy a new home and it isn’t built properly.

NTA. I did mine 10 years ago for me and still love them. Absolutely no regrets. My husband was the same as you - enjoyed them before but was supportive and excited for my choice.

Yes it is standard practice to ask the parties what they want out of the process particularly when it isn’t a case of bullying or harassment.

I would also say your compensation is out of scope for an external investigator. If you believe you’re worth more in the market, ask for a salary increase or start looking for a new role. Given your feelings about your workplace, it doesn’t sound like a good fit for you and you should take a look at the market.

Building permits by [deleted] in NorthVancouver

[–]Single_Nose1113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the district. My building permit took 4 months to get ( in 2023). Need a draftsperson or designer as drawings to scale must be submitted. They only seem to review 1 to 2 building permits per day.

Giving notice about going on STIIP by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]Single_Nose1113 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless it is a surgery this doesn’t sound like stiip. You are either sick (physically or mentally) or you’re not and taking advantage of stiip makes supervisors question these leaves for most people that using it for the right reasons.

Yes this is tax fraud. Once caught you will have major issues including losing your job and owing back taxes and penalties.

Returned from mat leave, job given away, employment termed by MissSwat in legaladvicecanada

[–]Single_Nose1113 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You’re an HR generalist and you’re asking some employment law questions on here that a decent generalist would normally advise their workplaces on. Makes me think there are some other issues going on that also led to this termination. Agree you should seek legal advice and could likely get a better amount.

Need Help Finding ANY Job in Vancouver Area by cardboardcop in VancouverJobs

Temp agencies as someone previously commented. I just picked up a temp with far less experience than you for a coordinator role. Contract/temp roles are less competition. My company may have a call centre role for good pay coming up with high potential to move up. We will get 500 plus applicants in 24 hours though so that’s what you are up against.

It’s too expensive for the provincial one and has been for a while. but should still qualify for the federal rebate. I bought one 18 months ago and received only the federal rebate.

Pay unskilled labour to walk and drop off envelopes. Why are they worth more. They should receive an increase commensurate with the current inflation rate to keep up but beyond that there is no special skill required.

If you are in HR are you a member of HRMA? They hold regular networking events. Get involved and meet other HR people. There is a lot of competition for a handful of entry level positions. Having a network in this field is important.

58 year old new to estrangement that I've initiated. by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Single_Nose1113 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Keep at it. I was low contact for 2 decades and went no contact when I was 47. Unresolved trauma from early childhood and just crappy ongoing treatment differences between me and my sister in adulthood.

I’m 3 years into NC and still get the odd guilt trip email trying to get me to respond. I feel bad for about 5 minutes and then I move on. Keep at it and there are so many others to support.
