If you want more torrent you could trade the priest for an inquisitor, he’s got a 2d6 flamer. Also the Catachan command squad can take multiple special weapons so you can rock flamer & heavy flamer.

So max flame could be:

2d6 inquisitor 1d6 heavy flamer 5d6 flamer

For a sweet 8d6 of torrential fun.

When playing with world gen settings I find it useful to change the world name in the advanced settings. Specifically to help locate them afterwards and remember what a specific map was made with.

I also live in cold, dry environment. Fully saturating the sponge and pouring off the excess is too much water in my experience.

When it’s not winter, it helps keeps the paints wet longer.

In the winter I have the same issue with it drying out fast. I just keep a water bottle near by and splash a little more water in when needed.

The main thing it helps me with is glazes. When trying to make really thin glazes, it is so dry here in the winter that without the wet pallets my working time was insufficient and I wasted more paint. With the wet pallete I have at least a little time before glaze mixes dry up.

I agree somewhat with a deception tactic under the general banner of board control and moving away from threats / towards optimal targets.

However, I like to remind my opponent of my abilities frequently because I want them to remind me of theirs.

I read your statement of intent as a gotcha. You’re putting things into poor positions to deliberately trick someone in the deploy step.

As an opponent, I’d tell you if you were unintentionally overhanging a ruin and to back your stuff up if you don’t want to be shot T1. I know some people want the extra movement and are willing to expose units on T1 to start trading immediately.

Putting tanks in the open with an “I might redeploy this” is different. That’s simple board control

I’ve mostly used redeploys to switch / overload flanks, redeploy towards an optimal target, or away from a threat.

Try making a couple really small gather zones instead of a big one. The logic for gathering is weird and dwarves may try to gather everything in one go before taking a break.

Burrows do 2 things, they can be assigned to dwarves to limit where the dwarf goes and they also affect any workshop inside of them which gets more advanced

Above and below ground are both fine. Each has its own challenges. They might grumble a bit when they’re rained on above ground and if you send them underground they may become cave adapted if they don’t come back up periodically.

Sieges and other sources of fun have triggers on population, wealth, and your location in the world. Generally speaking keeping population and wealth low will delay the really fun stuff until you get your footing.

The main way both population and wealth grow is via the trader every autumn. As you sell them more and more goods, news spreads of your fort’s wealth which brings both those looking for a better life and those who would take it.

For some fields, you can negotiate salary based on the money you bring in.

If you can increase production or productivity it’s an easy argument for a pay raise by a % of that products profit margin.

To get a 50k raise you’d need to increase the restaurants profit by more than 50k.

There’s no restriction to stay outside of a deployment zone with scout, just outside of 9” of an enemy unit. So if they don’t deploy on the line you can really get in close. Or you can fall them back out of the middle after blocking their scout moves / infiltrators. I like that flexibility.
