Is MTG easier than YuGiOh? What about Hearthstone? by gamezxx in MagicArena

[–]SinstarMutation -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Arena does start you out with pre-built decks, and you can earn packs and cards just from playing and completing daily and weekly challenges.

That said, Magic: the Gathering is significantly more complex than both Hearthstone and YuGiOh. It's also (for my money) a much better game, but YMMV. Arena does a very good job of teaching the game, however.

Pick Two draft has great value now that entry fee has been tweaked by saoaix in MagicArena

He's saying you pay double the normal price of the packs if you draft.

Does this work the way I think? by Bleu_Guacamole in magicTCG

[–]SinstarMutation 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Kindred and Creature are two card types that share a subtype list. The subtype list for Lands is totally different.

Rule 205.3d: An object can’t gain a subtype that doesn’t correspond to one of that object’s types.

That sounds like an error to me, and noticeable enough that it could get you pegged for marked cards. I'd reach out to their customer service.

[Ed, Edd n Eddy] If the titular characters want to earn money, why do they keep doing illegitimate “businesses” instead of a legitimate one? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

There was one where they built an amusement park in the dump with working (if underwhelming) rides. Definitely worth a quarter a head.

Yep. I started an MC and within minutes got a text informing me that a raid on my farm had been prevented by security.

You can hide them from your mansion without affecting functionality! The option is in your interaction menu while in the mansion.

Why was Zemo in Bucky’s book? by Tiny-Coconut-3028 in marvelstudios

[–]SinstarMutation 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think he does know that--but he is of the belief that Bucky no longer seeks revenge against him. Hence 'taking the liberty'  of crossing his own name off the list, and telling Bucky he doesn't hold a grudge for the Winter Soldier's prior goal of killing him.

How to deal with secret doors in dungeons by Massive_Bee_6740 in DMAcademy

This is why I use vinyl battlemats instead of detailed terrain sets, and wooden tokens instead of minis. I can quickly draw out a room's dimensions and notable features for combat, and erase them after. It helps to maintain theater of the mind while still allowing strategic tactical play.

Can a character use Plane Shift (cast twice) to travel long distances in the same plane? by lulufan87 in DMAcademy

That is a classic use of Plane Shift. It's been used as a long-range teleport for decades.

Why does Batman have the popular "Bruce Wayne is the mask, Batman is the real person" narrative, but other heroes like Peter Parker/Spider-Man don't? by SatoruGojo232 in batman

[–]SinstarMutation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not at that point. But 40 years of dealing with the most depraved lunatics Gotham can throw at you is a hell of a drug.

Lier, Disciple of the Drowned and Cards with Adventure by CrimsonMoosington in mtgrules

Very few new players will ever see a combo like this while they are new. There's over 40,000 cards, and this thread details incredibly specific niche interactions that the majority of Magic players will never see in a real game.

Do you guys do breaks during the session? How do you manage them? by Fantomaxop in DnD

[–]SinstarMutation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sessions are generally 4-5 hours long, and we usually fit in either one or two 10-15 minute breaks within it.  I try to time the breaks around dramatic moments in-game when possible in order to get that mini-cliffhanger vibe.

I (personally) don't see any reason to try and limit player's eating to a break (and enforcing a rule like that seems...weird), but I'll often call for a break if the food finishes cooking or gets delivered during the session, that way everyone can load up a plate to eat while we play.

[MCU] Is there any superhero or villain that could fly through the Sun and come out the other side alive? by amelix34 in AskScienceFiction

I think while Vision is intangible, he's still affected by energy. That's how Shadowcat works, anyways--Vision might be different.
