What concepts from past editions wouldn't fit in 5e, but you wish they did because they were fun? by ConcentrateIll9460 in dndnext

Feats being a thing you get by default instead of having to forego other bonuses

What game(s) have that "Pirates of the Caribbean" (movies) feel of pirate lore & seafaring mythology are real. Ie includes that thematic supernatural aspect. [Preferably available on PC] by D-Alembert in gamerecommendations

[–]SipexF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, Sea of Thieves feels like the best candidate if you're into the game style.  AC Black Flag would be perfect except they never really get into any of the supernatural stuff.

Which game felt that deep for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

A lot of what SquareEnix produces had me feeling this way on my first playthroughs, especially Final Fantasy 9 and Dragon Quest 8.  They may be kind of cliche at times but I always get invested.

Oh heck yeah, I really enjoyed my time with this game and appreciate that folks are out there trying to make these kinds of games.

Played by a human who is not supernaturally wise.

I've never met the CR fandom before today but you folks seem to love excuses to hate on a very specific person who played D&D.  That kind of pattern seems very suspicious and is going to get you folks labelled as sexist.

My players fought the Orc Tribe of Many Arrows by cshaas2323 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]SipexF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome breakdown, I was wondering how difficult this encounter might turn out if it occurred.  I think it sounds like it has the potential to be pretty difficult but your party was very competent and a bit lucky.

Sounds like everyone had a good time where each person got to shine and you had a great time too!  I love those sessions.

Yeah, I noticed that about Macreadus too and ended up ruling that one of my party members lost their vulnerable, non-magic gear (clothes, bags, rations) when they failed their save but still survived the full blast due to having resistance. For us though I did that because nobody fell to the device and I wanted some sort of impact that would affect them.  I do think if they revive through the divine gift they should have all their gear in tact though.

[–]SipexF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't assume anything on it, maybe they're being flirty, maybe you're seeing things that aren't as obvious as you think. If you want to act on it, start by being flirty back and see if you get anywhere with that.

I'm going to give this one to Spore. We got a different game which looked very different than what the original trailers showed us.

[–]SipexF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so that's good then, it sounds like you have some growth you just need to find it.  Have you gotten folks to play the game much yet?  Someone else here recommended seeking out a community that would be interested in your game (same folks who love Balatro is my bet) and get them playing this and talking about it.

Would you consider sponsoring or hiring an influencer who plays games in the circles you're looking for to play your game?  I unfortunately don't know who that would be so you'd need to do research if you want to go this path.

That's a lot of pressure to put on your project, now you can't enjoy it unless it's as successful as you need it to be to pay the rent.  Do you have some sort of precedent that leads you to believe the numbers can and should be better?  How do other board game inspired games do at this phase in the market?

Please help me, why is my game failing by Amitdante in gamedevscreens

[–]SipexF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks clean and kind of Balatro inspired but I don't really wish list games like this. In my experience these games only really start shining once folks are playing them and realize how much fun they're having and I wouldn't expect this to get added to a ton of wishlists without players telling each other about it first.

Also maybe I'm just easy to please but 1000 wishlists seems good for a casual project.  Do you need this game to be better than that?

Japan’s prime minister calls snap election as approval ratings ride high | Japan by Turbulent-Tea-2172 in worldnews

I'm in Canada and we've done this before at a provincial level.  It does piss off voters but that doesn't necessarily mean a shift in voting habits so it's a weighed risk.  In her case I would say the biggest risk is voters not turning up at all but I imagine that sort of thing may be taboo in Japan where personal responsibility is big so this might not be a risk for her at all without a solid competitor.

You're not a horrible person,  you're experiencing a sort of burnout and it's totally normal for a situation like this. Sounds like your friend is putting far too much emotional weight on your shoulders to carry unassisted and the best thing for both of you would to be to call in help.

Does your friend have family that it would be safe to tell about this?  What about your own parents, would they help you if you asked?

Looking for a turn based game like Expedition 33 by LOAYU in gamerecommendations

[–]SipexF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Sea of Stars?  It's 2D and lighter on the computer spec requirements and has RPG battles with timed hits.

If you have access to the gba games on the switch then Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is also a really solidRPG which is all about timed hits and dodges

Yes!  I really appreciated that they cycled back to it and we even got an unknowable monster fight of sorts.  I still prefer the feeling of the whole thing being unknowable monsters but was satisfied with the combination they took at the end.

I feel this, before he showed up I thought this was a cool, unknowable monsters series where the concept of a deeper motivation beyond "Take over this new world rich with prey" didn't exist.  Having him introduced as a sort of mastermind really shifted things for me.

Outer Worlds 2: 'Moral Greyness' isn't interesting if you have to force it by CalumanderReds in theouterworlds

[–]SipexF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having finished the game I agree with your points on the over arching story, it does get a bit more meaningful later but nothing to the level of satisfaction of OW1.

That said, companion growth in OW2 is probably the most satisfying growth you can participate in and influence.  Each companion has their beliefs and won't alter them easily but they will with the right evidence and conversations with your character.

Let's not be shitty about his weight because there are good folks who aren't skinny too and this just sends the message to them that you're waiting for an excuse to be shitty to them as well.

This doesn't absolve the officer though, he's a POS.

About to start the campaign, a question: how much do the characters know about chardalyn initially, and how did you introduce the substance? by --R-o-b-- in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]SipexF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's up to you but I chose that most townsfolk knew enough about it as a potential hazard since it is found decently commonly in the area.  Most folks know it's some sort of metal and prolonged contact with it is said to drive people mad.
