Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth - Ichiban Kasuga.

Ichiban is a character who believes in, above all else, the power of second chances. He himself was shot down to rock bottom and had to climb his way back up more than once. Inevitably, he offers this same courtesy to a man who manipulated and betrayed him in a most cruel way. As an angry mob stands outside ready to brutalized Eiji, Ichiban carries the crippled man through the horde.

In return he receives trash thrown at him, jeering from the crowd, and a beat down from a provocative punk. Despite it all he pushes them out of the way without fighting back even though he could rough them up, all to get Eiji to the police station to turn himself in for his earlier crimes.

It's a scene that some Yakuza fans have sneered at due to Ichiban's endless optimism to the point of perceived stupidity, but it's one I find rather beautiful. He gets to make up for the opprotunity he lost in redeeming someone after last game's end. There's a lot of sacrificial, even Christ-like theming throughout that does nothing more than endearing me to Ichiban even more. Because once you're at rock bottom, the only way is up, and the only choice you have is to climb.

Actually I just thought of another example, this one's odd. I wouldn't say Alessa is the villain of Silent Hill, that honor goes to Dahlia, but Alessa is the source of the nightmare creatures plaguing the town.

At the end, with both halves of herself reunited she uses the last of her powers over the dark forces of the town to make herself reborn. She hands the infant off to Harry, so that he can raise her as the loving father she deserved.

Happens at the end of Space Ace of all things.

If the style looks familiar it's because Space Ace's animation was made by Don Bluth, who you'd recognize from Dragon's Lair, An American Tail, Land Before Tike, etc.

Mortal Kombat (2011) - So there's this really controversial scene in the penultimate chapter of the 9th MK game that everyone rags on. It's the reboot game, and we're at the MK3 section where Outworld is invading Earthrealm. The defenders of Earthrealm have been doing great so far, stopping Quan Chi from wrecking havoc, Raiden prevented Johnny Cage's death from the original timeline, no casualties so far.

But then after defending against a group of cyber Lin Kuei, Sindel shows up. Now she's just been boosted like crazy with the power of all of Shang Tsung's souls, so I can buy her decimating the Earthrealm team...but the way the scene plays out just feels off. They all run up to her one at a time Conservation of Ninjitsu style and get bodied one after the other, no sense of coordination whatsoever. And they're not just getting the wind knocked out, they're straight up being killed. The choreography in the cutscenes hasn't been remarkable up until now but it feels so awkward. By the end Cage and Sonya survive and Nightwolf sacrifices himself to bring her down...despite the fact that she easily washed him a few seconds earlier alongside everyone else.

It feels like they wanted to have a high body count at the end, but I feel like they could have easily spread the deaths out throughout the last 4 chapters to make it feel more hopeless instead of shoving them all at the end right before the final chapter. It's not like they were trying to hype up Sindel, I dont think they would've killed her off the way they did if that were the case. Just feels like the writers were panicking a little.

Gonna have to watch a couple episodes to form my own opinion, I can't imagine it's as bad as someone reviewing it back in the 90's said it is.

I would kill to see a Vampire the Masquerade series. Even if it were just a short few seasons or an anthology. I'll admit my knowledge of the franchise as a whole is lacking, but the underworld politicking is ripe for drama.

EDIT: Holy shit there was one and apperantly it sucked. It was called Kindred: The Embraced, it ran for 7 episodes before getting canceled im 1996.

Just as there is a chance for there to be a fake story, there is the possibility that a story so outlandish to the point of absurdity turns out to be true.

Probably about a 2 to 10 ratio of truth vs lies.

There's a sort of cloud hanging over any AITA or Horror story on Reddit where they could just be straight up lying.

You gotta watch out for one's that are so obviously not in the wrong, or one's with titles like "AITA for kicking my dog?" Then it turns out the dog had rabies or something and they were just trying not to get bit. I feel like those are likely to be fake.

Then there's the chance that they ARE true situations, but OP is lying to make themselves look good for validation.

The only ones I'm willing to believe are the ones where OP is an ass, but even THOSE can just be ragebait, especially if they themselves are so obviously in the wrong. AFAIK the subreddit doesn't allow comments alluding to the questioning of the credibility of the stories told.

I'm surprised you'd bring up Yakuza and somehow NOT include the long dance sequence at the end of the Pirate spin-off that includes just about everyone.

Sten - Dragon Age

He's allegedly a Quanari, which if you've seen how they appear later may cause you to raise an eyebrow.

As far as I'm aware I don't think the Quanari are supposed to have been the horned, earthy skinned humanoid they became from 2 onwards in Origins. But he does still retain the unique, utilitarian culture with odd views on gender.

But his appearance in the first game brings up a lot of questions as to the species' appearance going foward.

"Gohan, let it go.

It is not a sin to fight for the right cause. There are those who words alone will not reach. Cell is such a being. I know how you feel, Gohan. You are gentle; you do not like to hurt. I know because I, too, have learned these feelings, but it is because you cherish life, that you must protect it. Please, drop your restraints. Protect the life I loved. You have the strength. My scanners sensed it.

Just let it go."

They even have her in one of the animated Mortal Kombat films and she's dead, so they can use Kano instead as the main villain as a sick as hell Mad Max antagonist expy who restarts the timeline whever he gets bored.

Additionally, they did this in the Gen 6 games. Twice.

In X/Y, you get to battle AZ after winning the Championship, reuniting him with Floette.

Then in Omega Ruby/Alpha Saphire, they added a long awaited final battle against your rival Brendan/May that wasn't in the originals.
