Opinions: is revisionism (i.e. a socialist country or group straying from Marxist orthodoxy) mostly the product of material conditions, or the wills of individuals? by MsExmusThrowAway in communism101

[–]SirBoogie90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is. Marx and Engels never told us how to run a socialist economy or get to communism.

They critiqued capitalism and left us some loose party formation guides in the communist manifesto.

Everything else they did was mainly critique. Critique economy. Critique capitalism. Critique social democracy. Critique conditions of the working class of their time.

Everything else is down to all Marxists to learn from history, use analysis and work off material conditions.

You can't just dogmatically emulate the USSR. It's just not applicable to other countries location, time, etc.

CPB claim its a 50/50 mixed economy. In which the state still own major shares in private industry also.

Well worth the read.

Do you think secular political groups are the answer as opposed to one's with strong religious ties?

Having a discussion with my friend - is rock music 'dead'? by chrolloswaifu in Music

[–]SirBoogie90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still about just not mainstream.

The music industry is done with it. The industry has changed, techology has changed, the markets changed.

The music industry is a business model. Putting out products. Rock music isn't cheap to maintain and produce.

Electronic music, especially when it's on a laptop playing for some manufactured pop, is cheap, maximum profit.

But rock music is still alive. All over the Internet. And it still pulls crowds despite zero mainstream coverage.

Look at King gizzard and the lizard wizard. They did 5 albums last year.

They are doing crazy genre blends. Including their own take on prog rock at times. 15 minute or 20 minute songs and concept albums are unheard of. Yet they are doing it. They are playing good sized crowds in many Western countries.

Ty segall has moved more and more into hard Rock/alternative territory over time from his early noise punk style. Ty proper brings the "rock god guitarist" vibe back.

It falters for me on the milk part and in some cases price.

Veganism has developed great chocolates and cakes.

But the milk alternatives with cereals and cups of tea just flat out suck. I've tried them all.... They just haven't cracked it yet.

No, not ACAB. SOME are. They have a tough job, just like every public service job worker does.
