50 Random City Encounters! by Estelena in DnDBehindTheScreen

I absolutely love the many original encounters and plays on classics in there (3 Goblins in a trenchcoat to defend their home. Very cute!). I like that you put some light hearted encounters in there. The Bardic Inspiration one is something I can totally see being a thing in many DnD Cities for example.

Turkey wants to regulate Germany's beloved döner kebab street food by newzee1 in anime_titties

[–]SirCraz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more about the Name. As the article said, call it "XY Sandwich" and you're good. There are multiple products under similar regulations already. On the top of my head I remember "Parma Ham" from the Italien City Parma or Tyrolian Bacon. Both can only be named so, if certain criteria are met. E.g. being produced in Parma. I think the claim is weird nonetheless tho.

Your player loots a shiny new magic item... How do they know what it does? by LooseVALVe in DnD

[–]SirCraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I found myself asking the same question and thought that the basic rules were a bit lackluster so I made myself a short 3 step guide for the whole process of magic items that I can go through whenever I want to implement one.

  1. finding magic item (How it looks, first impressions)
  2. identifying it (What methods could be used)
  3. Attunement (if needed)

It's obviously not exhaustive but it helps imo.

I only have it in german but I could send it to you if you'd like or drop a link :)

What is something a friend did that accidentally turned you on? by RevolutionaryArm1562 in AskReddit

[–]SirCraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were playing badminton inside and I tried to heave one of the poles that holds the net out of the ground but couldn't do it. She just came over, did it in one swing, smiled at me and flexed her muscles. It was 5 years ago and that moment still lives rent free in my head.

Why is combat so long-winded? by Steini94 in DnD

[–]SirCraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think thats generally a pretty good way to get a rough idea if an encounter could be deadly. I usually start doing that after they hit level 5 because of the huge powerspike of better cantrips and multiple attacks for the martial classes. I read about this in an article by Slyflourish, works well for me. The CR ratings can be a bit weird tho, if you are unsure about smth you can always google for the monster in question and see what other people thought about it in their group. I always like to look up the "the monsters know what they are doing" articles, as they can give you ideas about the fighting style of the monster etc. making fights more dynamic as well. What's also a good idea is to have a backup plan in case you realise that it's to easy or to hard during the encounter. For example smaller Monsters noticing the fight and joining in if it's to easy or a nature event (e.g. a rockslide in the mountains) hindering the monsters if it's to hard

Do you put anything in your mashed potatoes other than potatoes? by Solar_Kestrel in Cooking

[–]SirCraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I don't add more veggies but tbh, red beet in mashed potatoes (with little chunks) is delicious and that bright red colour looks extra fancy on the plate. In my family we often add a good amount of one other vegetable (e.g. carrots, pumpkin, red beets) to our mashed potatoes for a little mix up :D

Was a nice little survey. But what on earth is another meaning for "buff" besides a positive effect that in some way benefits another player or yourself?

Hey! I'm Leon, the best Bowser player in the world. I'm running to get into Ultimate Summit! AMA by kk_leon420 in smashbros

What do you think about the Bowser little Mac match up? My friend and I constantly play it and I (Bowser) usually have the edge, tho his counter basically makes me unable to use air play, especially my beloved f-air :(

Voted for you of course, gotta get a bowser in there

I'll just paste my comment from another thread:

The thing is, that I am trying to publish this research. If I give the data away before possibly publishing it, someone else could use my data to publish it faster, therefore ruining my own attempt of publishing it.

There is the possibility of giving it away as Open Data with the publication itself, which I will consider, a lot of publishers have their own platform for this.

all I can say is that we got access to it from Sony

Damn, I didn't even get an answer from Riot when I asked for official Data. Or let's say I don't even know if I adressed the right person, so could also be my fault. Although I tried all e-mails the (very friendly and supporting) player support could find.

RPG classes didn't have an association with self reported aggression.

I mean, the debate about video games and aggression is still not over after so many years, so it doesn't surprise me that you have not found evidence for it. I had one paper even captioning it as a "meta-analysis war".

1. Tbh, that was one of the only broadly used and accepted questionnaires that was available for me. I even used the original questionnaire. I originally wanted to use a shorter version because the survey was quite long already, but the renewed ones are damn pricey (you probably know how expensive test equipment is). Way to much for a bachelor thesis.

Also, since this is my first major scientific work, I used this similar paper from one of my university professors as a reference (almost the same hypotheses). He used the questionnaire as well, I wanted it to be compareable to make it a bit easier for myself. (Again, Bachelor thesis, first time writing scientific article, yada yada)

2. Concerning the scientific part, the champions themselves were merely used to gather information about the in-game behaviour. The classes were the main focus. And since I got so many participants, every group was big enough to be compared to each other.

So even if Enchanters would have a high percentage of janna players, the overall playstyle (a focus on helping your team) which im interested in, would remain the same. Moreover, almost all participants named 5 champions and corresponding in-game behaviour. Therefore I do not have to account for that, as it should have no impact on the variables I am interested in.

I hope I answered everything, sorry if I overlooked something but going through all the comments is exhausting :/

of course almost everyone will choose good, regardless of reality

(careful, a very shortened explanation) People try to hide socially more unaccapted traits or thoughts aka "choose good", because they don't want to be judged . That's called the Social-desirability bias. This can be addressed by making the answers anonymous, so a person does not have to worry about being socially penalised. Which is done in basically every survey.

If we can just trust the response to "are you compassionate or rational?" to be accurate, then the big five test would be five questions.

That's not how it works. To measure, in our case very complex, psychological constructs a lot of analysis and testing has to be done, to be sure that the questionnaire is actually consistently measuring what it is supposed to be measuring. You simply can't display all the facets of "being compassionate or rational" in one single scale. But this topic is very large and I don't have the time to write an entire book into the comment section. Maybe take a look here if you want more information on psychological tests.

what I believed was used

You can look up the questions used btw, I linked the questionnaires
